As i sit here weeping into my bowl of Sainsburys own tomato and basil soup (other supermarket varieties are available) i cant help but ponder over what the scoreline would have been if we had our 'original/pre xmas' reserve team out.
This is the problem with playing at reserve level, if the firsts want your players, your screwed.
It was our first game since the xmas break with a few new players thrown it at the deep end and the fact is we were a mess...losing to one of the worst teams we have played against (no offence Werrington) they deserved to beat us, battling for everything and on their part i hope they have gained some good confidence going in to their next match.
I think we have lost around 6 good players to our first team, im not moaning, all credit to them as the firsts are on a great run, but i can' t help feeling like ive spent the weekend with Gary Glitter.
It does not bode well for the rest of our season, the only thing to nearly cheer me up a little was the fact that i scored a 'thunderbolt' header from a massive 6yards out, normally i would celebrate this by performing 3 somersaults and a triple backflip naked as me, goals and headers do not normally end up in the same sentence.
My retirement is nearing.

Slim... I heard much the same from the 'new' EMAP lads that played in that game for ya - from their accounts you lot moaned all game amongst each other and blamed all the new lads for the mess!!!! Not good by the sounds of it mate and I wish you all the best sorting it out.
Dean and Kev played 90 mins yesterday for us against a very good Racing 252 team in the cup and they were both superb - to be honest mate those 2 should murder a Werrington Res side if the rest of the team is performing and bonding etc??
feel free to drop me a PM if you want a chat about the EMAP lads, it may help them feel part of things there and perform better for ya??
As I said - Good luck yeah.
Cheer up - you'll bounce back and all will gel together again in no time at all :o
Slim - you got to remeber mate first game back for you lot for about 6 weeks, new lads coming in, got to give it time for lads to gel. Must admit i was surprised when braggy phoned and said you had lost cos on paper you had a strong side out...it will take time, and braggy's 1st game in charge as a MANAGER!!! STICK it out you have a cup to play for and it will come right!!!

Hmmm, yup there was alot of moaning...but it was at and between everybody and the new lads were not singled out for losing us the game, anybody that knows me, knows ive got a big mouth but in a positive way and try to do nothing but encourage (just a little hard when we were that poor).
I know deano and have played with him before, got a good engine and runs constantly for 90mins and thought Kev had some good touches and gets stuck in, but everybody was below par Saturday, new and old, and yes i am including myself, hardly touched the ball, Olly and Vinnie were the only 2 players that had a good game for us.
Your lads have not played for 6 weeks which includes a christmas/new year period that would have played a huge part, not trained and largely dont know each other. Jap is a fantastic young right sided player who was on the bench I think for that game? and is definately one to keep an eye on. Seriously in time get that "Gel" thing and fitness sorted it will only change for the better - and sooner rather than later I'm guessing.
The race night at the end of February will do the world of good for the club with all the new faces that have come in, in terms of gelling and bonding (maybe not the fitness bit tho!).
Keep with it! He who dares...

It was always going to be a tough game for us after not playing for so long and a new lads in the squad that didn't know each other. There are things that everyone could have done differently/better including myself but no excuses, we played badly (couple of good performances) and deserved to lose. We have to learn from that and not let it happen again!
I'm sure the lads will want to put things right and put in a good performance against Pinchbeck this week.:xxx:

Dicky - Think it may be a little different to the last time we played you, especially with so much changing at our club.
I did back Wimblington to beat you in your first game against them as they are a good strong side, but you impressively turned them over.
At least we can try and finish the game with eleven players this time and all enjoy a beer after!
