View Full Version : New Look PSL "not a good side"

After reading the E.T tonight notice that Crowland Town manager said "PSL not a good side" presumed that ths was either taken in wrong context by the E.T or whether it was just a the chap from Crowland being a bad loser? Me personally can't see how you can watch you side get beat 4-1 and then come off and say the other side not a good side. Well Done Bratts and Lee not bad 4 a team that "is not a good side"
(The site has been quiet after most games called off last weekend thought I'd cause a bit of controversy)
Number 9 - was waiting for some one to put sommit on here bout that before i passed comment myself. We battered them - yes they had a few chances, but didnt cause us any problems... i think the guy is just a BAD LOSER. People have to remember me n lee have come in and near enough had to put an entire new 1st team together in the space of 3 weeks. Most of these lads have made a step up from reserve team footy into peterborough prem and to be honest i am surprised they wasnt playing in prem b4 now.
My first game in charge was against fletton n we was unlucky to lose to them ( even though they were the better team 2nd half ), then lee joined me and we played deeping n beat them 3-1 ( yes i had the likes of jamie, dwayne. chris brown availble ), then we play crowland, a team that have been together all season and me n lee put out a team made up of RESERVE team players and spank em 4-1 ( should n could have been double that ). These young lads have proven they deserve to be playing in the prem as far as i am cocncerned.
Now i not saying these lads will set the prem on fire, but they have come in against all odds n played fantastic. Who the f**k is he to say we not good enough for prem or not a good side. We may not be a prem title winning side ( well not yet anyway ), but give us time n we will be a top 5 side!!

Bratts to be honest mate wen I read it I thought what a p1llock! What is wrong with being gracious in defeat these days? Hope it works well 4 u mate!
Thanks mate - to be honest its comments from people like him that will be the ' mojo ' for our lads to prove them wrong. I am gobsmacked on how these lads have been playing and i hope they continue to play how they are. Tough one this saturday though.
What a mug! I am happy to be joining up with 'not a good side' this week, because if 4-1 is 'not a good side' then I look forward to the team becoming settled into 'a good side', then the scoreline may be worse for muggins. This . . . coming from a team with a chequered recent history of players/managers coming-and-going? Everyone rallied around to help them out and they come out with those comments? Pin the article up on the changing room wall Bratts - they've done our team talk.

Bratts, comments like that are what put fire into your lads and they will come out smiling. When people make comments like that, it only feeds the fuel to perform even better.
Just ignore him!

Bratts I agree with what ur saying right across the board belive there are many quality players in the combination divisions for whatever reasons. But I'm sure many if and when given the chance they will only do there selfs and there respective clubs justice. Fair play for showing them the faith and although won't happen overnight stability and continuity will eventually bring success.
Fact is people are going to judge us as "not a good side" simply because the names on the teamsheet are not known or "popular" yet. I heard them all on the table next to me after the game running off a load of players we havent got now - and? Piece of advice to them would be to stop looking at other peoples teamsheets for so called names and take a deeper look at their own. If their gaffa has said publicly their not up for it - well then dont pick um mate take 11 reserves who are!!
He done more talking in them two or three lines in the paper then he did the whole game in dugout.
4-1 :ner:

Lee your right mate- just because there names don't jump off the team sheet, that means f**k all obviously the lads you have brought in a more than good enough which explains to wins on the trott. Good Luck
Is Luke Thackham coming to PSL with you?
In time he should be. Couple of admin bits n pieces to be cleared up I think.

You guys seem to have made a good start to life at PSL.
As manager of Ortonians we once won 8-0 away at Pinchbeck and their manager put in the paper that there were 6 sides in the league better than us (including Uppingham!) - I think we ended up winning the league that year - only take notice of what anyone says about you if it is nice!

Is that why you never take notice of any1 Tommy!
from what i have read it seems like just a case of bad losers to me, have to say well spotted no9 as we all know u love to cause a bit of controversy!!! well done PSL if you won 4-1 every week with the opposition saying c**p like that im sure it will be a gud un!!!
Gotta say i love this football lark and the banter, it just ads to the fun of the season. As good a start me n lee seem to have made at psl, we have a long long way to go yet to get the team performing how we want it to. The good thing about having some one like lee running the team with you ( apart from the fact the contacts he has!!!!) is we both bounce ideas of each other and it makes things so much easier. We have no pressure what so ever this season going into games as teams will look at the team sheets n think who the F**K is that, The pressure is on everyone else as they will be expected to beat a team of so called ' no names '. The difference is these lads know they got to make a name for themselves to earn there respect in this league which will make them fight all the way in every game.
Thanks Tommy I've learnt already only to take notice of the good bits cus they come few and far between in local football! Sure there are people edging for us to fail for one reason or another as there is for you no doubt I imagine because of the 'high profile role' you got with others envy. We giving it our best shot its guna be difficult this year regardless of the couple of wins we have had up to now but, hopefully we can build a side next season capable of challenging for honours with a few additions to the squad.
Have they got your lights sorted yet? ! Be gutting when you finish top two if they aint done um.
PS
Best thing about having someone like Jimmy is because he's himself:kissin: Lol!
Can you feel the man love in here?

Number 9 obviously not replying to you as I don't listen to anything anyone says!
On to Plan G on the floodlights and not given up hope for this season - at the moment top 2 is achievable but seems a long way off unless we start scoring some goals and not relying on young Karl Gibbs (who has 17 - next best 3)

Bet you say that to all your boyfriends Lee!
Shane - Scatters - Deboo - Bridges. They are the names (well as i know them - i also know a few other names they are called as well :)) of the psl reserves who do belong in the prem and there are a few more who i am sure could hold their own in that league.

Didnt Say that Tommy did I.:soo:Your advice to Bratts and Lee was to only listen when some one says something nice. Cant remember anyone ever saying anything nice about you. :flip:Sorry just had to clear that up.
Now you know thats not true Justin just the ones that matter! Lol.
Who you got Saturday Justin? Should have a strong side now looking at it on paper...
Lee, i think they away at werrington reserves n like you say they should be able to field a very strong side, be good to see our reserves boys back playing after a long lay off........

Depends on the weather i guess for most teams as to whether there are games, though we need one as we havent played since before xmas, so there will be a few bellies to run off!
On paper its a good squad for Saturday and we should win, though dont know what all the new chaps signed are like and im sure Werrington will be up for causing an upset.
Just hope the rain stops :(
You and me both! Kev, Hanny, Sid & Dean (if that's who have signed) are great players with bite and determination, who will serve you well. They have been playing for years and will get you goals.
Raph..spot on mate the only one to sign is deano n hopefully will get that done today..if these boys listen to braggy ( he's had good coaching from me :speak: ) he will get them playing well together. With these signings we should hopefully see our reserves climb up that combi div 2 table ( no pressure lads ). Lets hope rain dont stop play this saturday.

i don't know what the crowland manager is moaning about :mabub:? they lost 4-1. surely thats a good result for him?
what a crap team beating moulton 2-1 away!
i went to the game today and the only "names" in the PSL side were joe duffy and jamie graham and in a fairly even game they deserved the win and had a perfectly good goal disallowed too. winning goal was an absolute cracker from jamie with a deft chip from 25 yards out that pinged in off the post beautifully.
jb - firstly mate sorry for not returning your call, i had a weekend off work n the misses insisted we go away for it. Great result for LEE today who took the team on my absence!! This is the beauty when you have a guy like lee running the team with you!! You na that when one of you aint there theres someone left in charge that will get the result. We have been in charge for 4 games now winning 3 of them. Like i said these ' NAMES ' may not be that well known but the lads keep playing n getting the results they are getting they soon will be. WELL DONE LEE N LADS.

ummm just be careful as ucl managers read this forum :whs: lol.
Absolutely delighted for the lads, what a winning goal!! Lol. Was a bit concerned with how quiet the changing room was before the game with new guys coming in etc then having to change our system even before a ball had been kicked. Those fears soon went come half time! All credit to the guys they worked hard from Start to Finish and got what they deserved.
Good debuts for Raph, Sharpy and Ricky they have gave us right headaches for next week now.
Lee - usually my headaches come through too much:bub:( as will be the case tommorrow ). But i glad these new lads will give us a headache for another reason now. It makes out life harder as managers but its great for the team, long may these headaches continue. I dont usually get like this but i would love to be playing crowland next week so we can SPANK them some more ( purely on the comments that there ' jose mourinho ' of a manager said ).

simple really! don't change a winning team, make the others fight for their shirts. god luck next week v fletton
I'm looking forward to it already.
The game on saturday was close, personally thought a draw would have been more than a fair result but fair play to psl, but let's be perfectly honest, there was only one reason psl got the 3 points and i doubt he will be playing next week, won the pen, scored the pen and won the game, simple as.
By the look of psl they will do well and should stop worrying about this name thing too much, if they're all enjoying it surely they've cracked it haven't they?
No 3 - i wasnt there myself but heard it was a close game, and yes JAMIE GRAHAM makes a HUGE difference, yes he won n scored the pen and yes he scored ' what i heard ' as a cracker of a goal for the winner, even though he got the goals there are 10 other players on that pitch that have to help get JAMIE these chances. Your right he probably wont be there next week, but i am sure our other lads will do just fine. I agree with what your saying about the ' name ' thing, they only reason that comes up is cos there are a few people that think we will only amount to sommit if the likes of jamie are playing for us and i think thats unfair on the lads that have come in and done tremendous in such a short space of time. All the best for the rest of your season.
bratts u picked the wrong game to miss m8 it was a great display from all the lads involved and a deserved 3 points. every one gave 110% from start to finish and hopefully we can keep this run going untill the end of the season. im glad us new lads have given you and lee a selection headache and i hope u get many more in the future he he he

Bratts your right it takes more than 1 man to make team even if that is Jaimie Graham. Why was he available to play last weekend?
Jamie was available cos eynesbury's game was called off ( wish there game was off every week lol ). The lad is simply brilliant, you can never replace a player like him, but you will get lads that will do an outstanding job for you to make his loss a little easier to bare. We got a tough cup draw this week v AFC Fletton, if the last game was anything to go by it should be a cracker of a game.
Totally agree that it takes more than one man to make a team and as I said psl will do fine, but my point was that if the ball had gone to any other player the game would have finished 1 - 1, this is not being disrespectful to anybody, just a fact.

no 3 sounds like a touch of class finished it off with deciding goal, but rest of the lads no doubt worked the b0llocks off to get him the ball and defend Jaimies class but sure PSL will be fine without him.

not me mate:lol:
Nor me, I have a great finish!
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaatttttttt? Somebody wake this lad up he's dreaming again. ?
A bit hard to do it from CENTRE HALF ON A SUNDAY MORNING Mick Belson. How come I never made your ET dream team either ?? !!
Slim Bratts
22-01-2008, 13:21
Me neither. My current form since the New Year is 100% goalscoring record....well, thats 1 game - 1 goal.
Jamie Graham is absolute quality, but dont think he was playing in goal, in defence and in midfield.
If you noticed Raph my dream team was made up entirely of blood relatives so you didn't qualify. Not unless your mum was in Majorca some twenty odd years ago. That was the second dream team I have done in the E.T. you didn't make the first one either.P.S. remind me how many games have you played for EMAP this season? How many at centre half and just how many goals have you scored ?
Due to disciplinary suspension, sexual tourism and the pursuit of social activity - not many games! I scored six for Castor in a handful of games though, but you have a point!
Bad day at the office yesterday for Sports. Our kit arrives at 1.30 (Kick off time) so can have no warm up. Then the lads put in a very poor days work which resulted in a deserved hammering. We did not show anywhere near the same work ethic and fight we have in the three previous games although missing Jamie, Chris, Joe for obvious reasons along with Jay thro illness it was no excuse for the lack of effort shown in that perfomance. The lads who came in done themselves no favours and fortunately for us we can bring our new signings in to side next week as cup tied wont be an issue and we have to hope for a huge improvement on this showing.
Does that include me too then Lee? I thought that I did well when I moved back to my preferred area of the field. It was a bad case of a 'lack of fight' from many of our team.
We had no fight in the middle of the park and was getting walked over. When you came on you got stuck in which is what we asked of you personally. For the team as a whole it just did'nt happen. But hey never mind we live fight another week and shall be fine for saturday when those cup-tied players can play again.
Okay mate. Well I am in Naples this coming weekend, so good luck to you boys - I hope that we turn over Uppingham and put things back on track :o
I was kinda hoping na 1 was guna come on here n mention saturdays game!! Did actually happen or was i dreaming...if i was dreaming it was the worst FCUKING nightmare i have ever had....was we ****e or was fletton simply to good, personally i would say both...we played for about 15mins of that game and fletton played for 90 and gave us a good lesson in prem football....have to say yesterday ruined my whole weekend....
