Mate, at least we get referees 99% of the time on a Saturday . . . try playing Sunday mornings in Peterborough!

yeah i will be honest mate i couldnt be a erf its a hard job but some one has to do it so im more than grateful we even get these guys give upo their spare time to be shouted at for 2 hours then criticised if they make wrong choices.
the sending off situation is a prime example in our game but the ref was good enough to say he felt it was an accident and saw no intention to halt the strikers movement towards goal so felt it didnt even warrant a card.
fair play to him but it happens the other way too when it shouldnt.

fair enough i'm not ungrateful by far, as u say harbs i wouldnt give up my time on sat aftrennon to be shouted at by bunch of lads, but still some of the refs have been far from the standard some of us r playing at! i know we r not pros but we all like to think of ourselves as decent players, if we didnt we'd be in teams in lower leagues! we all look forward to sat afternoons and its a shame sometimes cos it frustrates us! Ex. we had a ref at march this year who didnt wanna use linesmen!!!!! whats all that about??? he said he knew when a player was off!!! maybe its just my personal opinion. i'm not after an arguement i'm just seeing views from other people

thats cool mate, your not alone with your opinions but i have come across this discussion in the prem on a number of times in the last few years.
the issue is not going to go away unless those who think they can do a better job--- do a better job.
but like i said its not something i would be able to do so im going to stay out the firing squad oin that one :)

Oops didnt think id posted that :tpd:

As a ref myself, it really grates on me when players all moan and stuff about the standard of refs, as without them we wouldnt have Association football that we all adore.

Haha, I remember you now! You have a point about the refs though . . . I don't think that we have any bad referees - just some that are not as good as the others. I think that more ex local-footballers should take up the whistle and give something back. Look at Swanny for example (not for too long though, your face will stay that way if the wind changes, haha!).
