It's the class of the big two this sunday down at chestnut a. JNE desperatley need/have to win to keep any hopes of winning the league alive.

Heard lots of grumbles in oak squad about argueing between themselves and lack of effort ?? Will they suffer another defeat after northants.

What do people think??

Hoping obviously for a jne win but hard to see as we can not seem to beat them!! but will be down cheering JNE on!!

Looking at the league a JNE win would be best for us and westwood but having played both sides twice this year cant really see much past a draw or oak win. But u never know and hopefully JNE can win and open the league up further.

The big two?
Surely you have to actually WIN something before you are considered a big club!
Just remind me Foggy, how many trophies have JNE won?

As Darren said, JNE never seem to beat Oak even when Oak dont seem to have their "strongest" team out. In the last game apart from a great Bannie save Oak didnt really trouble Jube.Jube missed a host of chances and unless they can convert some of those chances i can only see Oak winning by the odd goal.If Jube score early on then the game could be a lot different with Oak having to then chase the game.

Thanks Glen for reminding me we have more runner up medals than anyone else!! Been consistent without winning anything and still going strong is sign of a good side and can still be regarded as a big side in a poor league!!

Feel this year is our best chance as league not strong although missing important players such as jamie graham, steve phillips, seth etc...

Not Glen actually Darren, i wasn't having a "pop", just thought that Netherton and the Westwood have as much right to refer to themselves as a "big" side" as JNE do.
Also the missing players excuse doesn't wash as all the other sides have been missing some of their better players at various stages of the season!

Sorry my mistake!! Not saying westwood and netherton are not good sides but been consistently oak and JNE in top 2 in last 3 years with nags thrown in. Westwood and Netherton not done it consistent enough to be classed top two although netherton did surprise everyone buy winning the cup with an excellent performance.

Just my opinion!!

personally i think oak have won the league , unless jube can pull of a big win . on the otherhand it helps us in our quest for runner up spot if jube lose . . . either way points get dropped . good luck 2 both teams :gun:

Same old, same old.

Even without a couple of the injured Hotpoint Galatico's, Oak were far too good for JNE as usual. Micky Graham best JNE player in midfield first half and Garwell (or Garfield as Billy insists on calling him for some reason) was quite dangerous.

Foggy sent off for throwing the worst punch I think I have ever seen, Tyler spent more time on his arse in 90 minutes, than I do in a 5 day week in the office, and Micky Parnell will be for ever grateful for the advice given by Smick about heading the ball down. Won't mention Mr Leftley's other half as she looked pretty scary, but will mention Darren Fogg's windmill impression with his crutches when complaining to Reg that apparently the free kick from which the Oak scored the first of 4 goals was taken from 2 yards further forward than it should have been.

Some meaty challenges going in from both sides, but good entertainment all round for a blooming cold Sunday morning. Good idea for the Sunday League to make teams play at Focus - they must have a "bung" deal with local residents for the 26 footballs that each team needs.

any Sunday scores anyone?

couple of Div 4 ones I heard.

Hampton beat Ebeneezers 7-2 ?
Emap beat Halcyon 3-1 ?

what about the other divisions?
Star Inn?
Power League
Prem results?

Come on lads lets have a little more Sunday morning footy chat!
what about Fenland Police v Royal Mail.... a real clash of the Titans that!!!
have heard several Limetree 1st team lads are dispursing to other teams (we got one and are chuffed we did as he's added steel to our back 4).....) - oh and how come their reserves field a team week in week out but their 1st team can't??? surely rules dictate the reserves have to step up to fufil 1st team fixtures 1st????
any other news for us in the Sunday leagues? looks like Oak have stepped closer to the title again then?

another topic I know but any news from Sunday afternoon teams? PIS, Artemis?

right Sunday ramble over, back to my dinner beside the fire!

people left the limetree as they complained at not getting enough games in the prem(a problem a lot of people have but apparently the top 2 leagues will be merging next year which will be long overdue)! i wasn't there at the time but if they'd put a bit more in and won some cup games they'd have had plenty more games. i think most of them used that as an excuse cos they kept losing and couldn't hack it in what is currently a really poor standard prem(most of them left to go to werrington village who were bottom of div 3!). limetree are better off without players like that cos when you go up in to the top tier of your leagues you need people to dig in and grind out results and help the team progress(many years at the lord westwood has shown me this and they're finally somewhere near where they desrve to be). the problem with the reserves there is that they dont want to play prem football they just seem to want to stay in the easy league which has been noted and will be sorted out one way or the other in the summer(in what way i do not know but have been told this problem will be dealt with). i joined them from netherton to help biffa out then he went and quit!(thanks biffa!)but it was down to family reasons so we had to respect that. as far as the player you signed i have a feeling who it is and he told me he jumped ship because he thought the team were going to fold and didn't want to be left with a possible fine and be left in limbo until he was free to play for someone else(which is understandable). we are slowly getting a decent team back together and have signed george goodayle, simon patterson and john pimm recently who all played last week against woodview which we lost 5-4 to a goal in the last 5 mins but only had 10 men and hammered them but in the end we just ran out of steam. we will be fine very soon as we are only a couple of decent players short of being at the standard of netherton for example so hopefully it wont be too long until we're sorted!

Could not resist could you tommy!!!

Agree oak were better side and deserved to win but will with argue some of your comments.

I was not sent off, reg deemed to think that me on crutches seemed to be some menacing force to him and he stated that he would be reporting me to county although not playing til next season and so can not see the point in that, just frustration at our poor performance and lack of passion/effort as well as his bad decisions got better of me!!

Secondly, freekick was moved forward 15 yards and made a big difference for delivery into the box although we still allowed a free header for the goalscorer!!

Thirdly, too many JNE people not playing as a team and thinking they are good enough without actually doing anything. Mickey was running by players to make tackles and he is late 30's and some others are teenagers!! Not right.

Fourthly, u talk of oak missing players, jne were missing myself, steve phillips, jamie graham and seth. all would have made a difference!!

No excuses at all though as beaten by a better side!!

One last moan and sure you will agree. No point playing at chestnut if have to share a changing room and the pitch was a disgrace. Ringwood and werrington are far better!!

No problem Darren, thought whichever of the Spalding brothers it was playing was lucky not to walk for the abuse he gave to Darcy whilst running the line.

Darcy said he was going to mention that to Reg when he went round for dinner later this afternoon. (didn't Darcy used to be a player somewhere, or so someone said this morning?)

Agree he was harsh and should have been booked at least!!

Was going round for dinner also but reg came over and told me that I would not be welcome with him and darcy after doing windmills and asking him if he would be brining the drink!!

Was very frustrating for me and cheered up only when see kat going mental!! Hope matt mananged to calm her down or she take it out on him - go on kat!!

Feel sorry for shakie as puts all the effort in as i'm sure you appreciate and players let him down like that but think nothing of it!!

You're right there JB, i made the decision to transfer out the week that Bif decided to step down from Sundays due to family reasons (fair enough). Wasn't that i couldn't hack it, just wasn't enjoying it and true, i felt that LT would fold shortly because we only had the bare bones each week. Strange scenario really, we won Div 1 by 16 points last year, scored the most and conceded the least, ran Oak very close in the Semi Final of a cup with most of the game having Bif up front due to injury (not a criticism against you Bif if you read this), lost in the final of another cup, but then we get to the start of this season and a handful of players decided to give Sundays a miss and stick to Saturdays (plus the constant injuries of Mr Sementa - he doesn't have much luck bless him). We could quite easily have gone on to become one of the top sides in the Sunday Morning League. Felt that i was loyal to LT in my time there, can only remember missing games when i was on Hols and was one of only a couple of players who went back for a drink after the game. Don't feel that Woofer had, or even will have, the resources to entice players but JB you've done a fair job at present and i applaud you for that. Good luck for the rest of the season and i'll be pm-ing you for post match analysis!!

Regards to the Reserves they are good mates that have known each other for years and they have no desire to play for the 1st team because their reasons for playing are to play together, plus they are a bloody good side and have won every league game so far!

Glad to see a discussion for us Sunday lads...

my point about the LT Reserves and not stepping up to fufil 1st team fixtures is still valid though ...
I understand the Reserves not really wanting to step up as they want to stay together,
but from a league perspective surely the reserves are there to back the 1st team up?
If you're walking div 4 then I'd assume you have lads that are good enough to go into the 1st team?
or why not just swap the teams about maybe? have the Res fufil the 1st team fixtures and the 1st's drop down to 4th div?
It's surely frustrating for teams in the prem having their games cancelled then wathing LT res strolling div 4? i thought I heard something about a league ruling that says 1st team fixtures are to be fufilled as a priority then reserves after???
Anyway the LT Res are a decent bunch of lads and we enjoyed playing against them earlier in the season - we went down 2-1 to a last minute goal that was flukey to say the least...
We're also fortunate to have benifitted from signing Hypia from their 1st's so no complaints from us... just doing my bit to keep the ball rolling for the Sunday lads..

you're totally right about the res's-they should step up to the plate when required which is one of the reasons i've been told it'll be sorted. with regards to div 4 being walked by the reserves and swapping places they wouldn't stand a chance. the reason i say this is because once they weren't the "big fish" and struggling to get resultes i'm sure the same thing would happen and they'd clear off to another team in an easier league(like most the team before me who went to werrington village).
with respect to div 4 teams and clubs i am a defender but a few years back i joined a team in div 3 with about 10 games to go and was one of the leagues top scorers so i think our res's would get a big shock in the prem although the few that have done the decent thing and come into play have done excellent but that was in a team with plenty of prem experience. hyypia i don't blame you at all for leaving. as i told you just after you left we will be seeing this season through with a few additions(you know what area they're from but i dont wanna drop them in it with their present clubs by naming them) and then with myself and the other 3 players that i earlier mentioned who i got to sign we should all know enough people to put a decent side together for next season.

oh and hyypia if you're lucky you can come and wear a subs jacket next season and run the line whilst waiting to come on! only joking mate you know you'll be more than welcom to come back.

on a more positive note in about an hour and a half my ban will be up so at least we'll have 11 instead of 10 next week!

Oak v Jube
If more of Jube's players played for the team than for themselves they'd have a better chance of beating the Oak. Look at someone like Ashley Favell - I can't imagine right-side/right-back is his favourite position but he gives it everything and that kind of commitment seems to be what sees Oak always come through on top against the Jube.
Funniest moment was seeing the Oak's Foggy run most of the length of the pitch to get a challenge in only to slip and fall over just before he reached his target
