Would seem the grass isn't greener in the UCL as a number of last seasons stars are returning back to the Premier Division.

is it because they are not good enough? or miss their mates? or they hate to train mid week?

answers on a postcard please and send to: never mind the bollox, psl, lincoln rd, pboro for the attention of moaning old man.

Bit of all of them I would say Al - I have learnt it is generally better to look up or across rather than down, though as with everything it is about getting the balance right.

i think you have to look at pns ambition to see why

they have applied for promotion to the ucl prem but will not get the ground requirements met by 31 march

with no lights next season again no wonder the players are getting fed up with broken promises

tommy is a great bloke and good manager but the club again has let him and the players down again

move on tommy and get a club with ambition

come on pns let us know why you have pulled out of buying stneots town old lights and if you finish in the top 2 this season you wont be able to go up
good players dont hang around to be runners up maybe and not get promoted

Not sure you are on the right track UCL Watcher - players not getting in any side will always move on, and we have not lost anyone for any other reason lately. In fact we have just improved our squad by re-signing Ronnie Fortune and Adam Scotcher is finally fit.

Fact is that the lights situation is a combination of factors. Firstly my personal situation has changed very quickly (starting up my own business) and secondly the total cost was going to be over double the original estimate.

The club have let no-one down and remain committed to getting lights and moving forward, which in fact is shortly to become compulsory at step 6 level. It is just that we are having to explore alternative routes for funding, but I agree we have a challenge to get that completed by March 31st this year. Mind you bearing in mind our league position that might be a little academic - enjoying the very different challenge and have no intention of going anywhere.

What do you enjoy about it Tommy ?

Not always turning up knowing you are probably going to win - makes the victories that much sweeter. Football is of a pretty decent standard to be fair and the grounds etc. have improved quite a bit in the last couple of years at this level.

Certainly not the after match drink as the PNS team (1 or 2 two obvious exceptions aside) make the Ortonians side look like alcoholics. Not sure if young people are getting more boring, but aren't young people getting boring?

The drink thing might have something to do with the lack of drinking facilities at chestnut and the fact that we have to go to Scarletts!!:(

As for the team and ground. I think tommy has found it quite hard to attract the players he wanted and this has caused him to be a little miffed and the latest (indifferent) results prove this although I know that the players are trying hard to turn this around and I am sure we will!! Top 3 is the aim as at the start of the season!!

Club is struggling for the 31st March that we can not mistake but it will hopefully sort something out sooner rather than later and we will get some lights up and a stand and progress to where a P'boro club needs to be!!

I am sure that once in the next division PNS will attract the sort of players they want and also they will have learnt a lot from what is turning out to be a difficult season!!

Also gotta say that Shay and Philly doing a great job with reserves as they currently sit second with games in hand. - well done

Unbeaten in the league for 10 weeks Foggy, but by my standards draws are indifferent I suppose! Defo bring your coat Saturday

sam kingston is the latest of many over the last couple of months.

i had Thomas from yaxley with me on Saturday but after checking the rules found i couldn't play him as you can only have 1 player who has played for a UCL club in the past 4 weeks. the other being brett.

after this weekend we will have a really strong team again, but it has to be said that far to many changes each week isn't good for any team. and even harder when your are the current champions.

there is still the pfa cup to play for, but in hind sight it could be a touch to much.

looking at last seasons team there is only Randell that has been ever present, joe and gareth play maybe 1 in 3 games, keeper richie roberts out for the season, with others having been on long time bans, and then this season kingston, thomas, thackham leaving for yaxley, garwell to st neots, quinney to pns, bellamy to huntingdon, leishman out thro injury.

so no shock really about where we are in the league.

my contacts are good but most don't want to play level 7.
but as recent seasons have seen im pretty good at finding the best kids playing locally and nearly all the UCL sides have my old kids playing for them, deeping, yaxley, blackstones, pns, st neots, st ives, holbeach and then there are others playing in other level 6 and above sides in other leagues and of cause Plymouth Argyle.

tom dobrawolski was our 7th keeper used this season. enough said.

*mock* SAD MOANING OLD MAN :blh:

League and Cup Tommy and as you rightly say to many draws!! Big couple of weeks for us now and not sure about my coat - You better ring me!!

Al, agree you will have a good side after xmas especially with Jamie and Ben back to name just 2.!! Players just not comfortable moving up to UCL for a variety of reasons but not doubt good enough! Anthony been Yaxley's best player i hear and Brett doing well also.

Good luck mate and Merry Xmas to you and everyone else!!

After the way you told me he was playing Seamus and those couple of players I have passed down for Saturday, surely he is going to get the Spanish Archer this week?

Foggy - its too many draws not to many (Bretton eductation coming through) - gave up after a couple of your typo's - cheers though for the bench warming pledge on Boxing Day and I will let you out to play the following Saturday - if your missus says its alright of course.

Good luck to our stiffs in their big game Saturday - 1 point off the top with a game in hand after coming bottom last year.
