View Full Version : JNE vs Westwood
Biggest Game in Local football this sunday as the old rivals clash!!
Big game for both clubs in terms of title aspects !! Hear westwood had a few missing last week as some working to make sure they are all available this week!
JNE should have good squad with hopefully everyone being available!!
Should be a cracking game and atmosphere. As usual the fans will be out in force and beer should be flowing along with the songs!!!! ha ha
A Jne win following Hatton winning would be a perfect sunday!!
Extremely hard to call this one, both teams on the back of what they would consider a bad result last week will be desperate to win. Expect a really competitive game. 2-1 or 3-2 but to whom ?????? Really couldn't say perhaps best bet is to sit on the fence and go for a draw but somehow can't see that happening. Should be a very noisy Sunday morning, all the best to both teams and I hope the best team wins. Will you be making an appearance as a player Foggy ?
ha ha ha, AAHHHHhahahaha. im sorry. i mean... are you playingfoggy??
i reckon westwood 3 jne 1
I used to think you knew a bit about football Harbs but a 3 1 to the Westwood !!!! I hope not ! I think one goal will seperate the sides. 1 nil to the JNE
you're not meant to reply to that until foggy has had a little go :D
my hopnest prediction tho Big S is a 1-1 but i still have little tyo go on but hear say about westwood as i've still never played them! :(
i used to love this fixture and have been on both sides of the fence. as some others have said and judging by this seasons results/squads i think this is way too close to call.
Think it will be close as both sides trying to get their best 11 out to earn the bragging rights that goes with the game!!
No prediction from me as hoping to be involved although will be making an appearance even if it is just to be a fan!!
Harbs - Nearly forgot you always bottled the biggest game of the season!! ha ha
hey hey hey!
its as if im banned from the fixture i have missed the only game so far racing played them this season and wasnt in the country for both clashes with JNE last season :(

I'll pop down and catch this game I think.
Racing 252

Harbs we still have to play Westwood twice so you will get to play them this season, I think it will be 2-1 to JNE and I am sure there will be some meaty challanges.
Good prediction Racing 252 as we did indeed win 2-1 - with Jay spalding getting the winner with 2 minutes left!!
Bit of a poor game though although both teams gave 100% and the challenges were flying in on a very wet pitch!!
2 sending offs which (in my opinion) where both correct although Mark will be disappointed at getting sent off the way he did, especially when the ref was looking to even things up as the westwood crowd were getting to him!!
Got to say this, I do not understand as to why the referee was appointed to such a game when there are more local refs around who understands the actual game itself between us. The standard was very poor and too many times he was influenced by the crowd on the sidelines for both sides!!
A fierce local derby needed handling a little better and he could have let some tackles go (due to the conditions and game) whilst penalising others which were far more serious!!
Over all a very good win (especially as it was against westwood) and puts us in a nice postion going into the xmas/new year break!!
So who reffed the game Foggy and who got sent off ? Lets be honest don't think the game was ever going to be a classic, far too much at stake. Were both teams at full strength ? Would loved to have been there but unfortunately I had to be at a very poor performance of Emap's.:sad2:

I've never felt 'unfortunate' or oblidged to wach our lads and I wouldn't be at any other local game when the EMAP are playing.
WIN/DRAW/LOSE we'll enjoy the .
We Enjoyed the pre-season one with JNE no end and congrats to them on taking 3 points against the mighty Westwood, makes the Prem title interesting and surely JNE are favourites now? :soo:
Sean what I meant was it was unfortunate that we performed very poorly after previously getting ourselves up there in the mix.Naturally I would rather be at any EMAP game even if we did sell ourselves short.:kissin:
I think Hatton versus Mayweather may have had something to do with it. Plus a missed penalty and a referee who was a complete merchant banker. Oh yeah . . . and the fact that they score more goals than us! :whs:
Sorry mick but do not know the ref name although have seen him about! Just a really strange decision to give him the game considering swanny was there helping westwood by running the line when he would have been a far better person to run the game! I talk in terms of local knowledge rather than ability.
Ricky rosario and Mark Randall both got sent off and will prob admit it that they deserve to be although there was far worse in the game!
Swanny made a great point to me after the game in that - if the referee was being assessed he would have got good marks as he followed the letter of the law although a common sense approach was needed in this game - not a graham poll!!:nono:
cant all be perfect Foggy.
Refs name was Shaun Gray who has been around for a long time and certainly knows his stuff. At the end of the day, people are saying he had a bad game but other people will congratulate him for the way he handled it. ( I wasn't there so can't give an opinion on his performance) With the league struggling for refs as they are I'm glad we got one and got the 3 points !!!

Well said Big S... refs are in short supply so he should be applauded for doing such a tough game, I wasn't there so have no idea about the sendings off etc but some people are saying he did actually have a good game and perhaps having different refs for these types of fixtures is a good thing...
If you get Swanny or Tommy every game then people can learn to influence each ref according to their friendship with him and even knowledge of him???
I would hasten to agree with SHAUN HALAL BOTN. I know that there are refs that I get on with particularly better and in such a small city, inevitably a ref is more likely to favour those who he is familiar with . . . it is human nature after all.

my poit is Shaun from Whittlesey aint gonna be happy with that lot hahahaha - I'm glad my names spelt Sean!
oh and the film A Close Shave is legendary!
Sorry, but totally diasgree with that sean , Big S and Napoli!!
He WAS influenced by others that is the point I was making as he could not handle the game nor the crowd!!
As for a good game! Both sending offs were correct as I've said but if he had got a grip earlier on in the game then these could have been avoided ! Also , there was far worse in the game than what Ricky or Randall got sent off for!!
Quite simply - He was not strong enough!! Swanny or Tommy have never been influenced as far as I know although Tommy might be partial to the odd pint as bribery - God i've tried, but with Shay buying though!!
JNE - I only agreed with BOTN that refs may be influenced by those whom he is familiar with . . . which is agreeing with your point is it not?
Maybe for those 'showpiece' games, a non-local Northants ref would be best? Just a thought. Swanny is a much better ref than he is lino anyhow (plus he missed my handball on the line in the Northants Cup Final haha!).

Common sense reffing needed in all games, not just this one. Bribed by the odd pint Foggy, moi? You must be joking, it costs more than that *brk*

Rematch this week and should be good game !!
Both teams back to full strength with players coming back and conditions as they currently stand should be as physical as always!! :str:

to be fair westwood were the better team in the 1st half and 3 or even 4-1 to ww would have been fair, 2nd half jamie and dwayne came alive and jne ran out deserved winners, as for both having a full side to pick from?? well slightly disagree with that as 10 of the starting 11 for ww YES, but the other one and the 2 subs which were used early on in the 2nd half did ww no favours at all.
overall it was a very enjoyable game to watch and the best side won.
Fair reflection al and good crowd down!! Weather and pitch played a big part as did our fitness as westwood seemed to die in the second half!
Have said before Jamie and Duane are quality together and good to see them back but need good players around them to get them the ball and little Dan Grigas is looking a real good player!!
Forgot to say that played half a match with doggett in Goal as Marcin got injured so was really good to limit them to a couple of half chances at best!!
