This weeks match report peoples....
i will be totally opinionated here as im sure Raph will be on here to give his comments on the results.
With it being a very windy day you could be forgiven or thinking its going to be a case of who ever score the most with the wind will win as ever it seemed to play its part in the first half, with Eye having chance after chance to take the lead, unfortunately Dean Clarke just couldnt find the back of the net no matter how close or easy the chance seemed. Especially when it was 2 yards out with the keeper laying down but some how the ball found its was over the bar.
A fantastc debut wing performance from Leon who has been waiting for his chance to get a game... admittedly up front but with the team keeping up such a good winning streak any chance of playing is fine with all the players no matter what position you start at.
he gave Castors right back a torrid time and even hit the bar with a 25 yard effort which i believe the keeper just got his fingers too.
the score stayed at nil nil after 45 minutes and with an inspred 45 from the castor keeper and centre backs they went in at half time believing no they had the wind it was their turn to pile on the pressure.
i will also say that i think mr Raph should have received a red card for a deliberate bad tackle from behind on Leon who for the 5th or 6th time had flew past the castor full back... and using a little bit of experience and naivity Raph took Leons legs out while he was still 40 yards away from goal but a one on one and last man is what it boils down to!
A yellow card was produced... you lucky boy :)
The second half started how the first half had finished and the wind seemed to be making no difference. a few Castor players stating that typically the wind seemed to stop!
Eye passed the ball around to make numerous chans but we just couldnt score... then the break thru and it happened on a counter attack. Castor giving us a taste of our own medicine for a moment passing the ball around but commited a few players forwards then once the attack broke down the ball was passed to clive brown who slipped the perfect thru ball for myself to run onto and Dean had pulled off his man, i played the ball in 6 yards out and the ball span up off deans boot but fortunately span straight in the net!
We had a few players on the bench despeate to get on and when they got on - Wes and Glen they were able to continue the tourment for the full backs and soon enough one of Ebbo's runs were picked out he brought the ball down on his chest and volleyed home to put eye 2 - 0 up.
Lewis also managed to get on at the back but on a very cold day he found it hard to get too involved but the job was done so he spent the last 10 minutes freezing his butt off :D ha ha.
Eye were well worthy of the 3 points and the winning streak continues les hope it does for many games.
We were able to move another 3 points clear of Stilton due to cup but they won yet again and the more they win the harder it is going to be to stop them! Yet another good 3 points for Manea and war boys smashing their opps as expected, also dodington loosing to Langtoft means there is now 6 points from 6th to 5th and Stilton in 5th with 2 or 3 games in hand on most teams so the league stil extremely competative!
