What a treck people.
For all that have yet to travel to REAL MARCH use a Sat Nav, saves time petrol and stress.

Day started off strange for us we did get there on time this week but Dean Clarke forgot to bring the footballs so we had a ball less warm up which isnt ideal for a game!

short of a winger Eye were happy with the turn out and confident we could do a good job against the much talked about Real March, be it good or bad.

All seemed to be going well passing and talking even some nice meaty tackles but it would be Real March who would take the lead from (in my opinion) a free kick given from a good tackle? The ref felt it was a foul and the wall lined up to prevent the spot kick assasin scoring on our near post. Which is exactly what he did. Now i would say he got the ball up and down to score an excellent free kick but from the moment it left his foot i thought our no:1 had it under control... as i turned not thru fear of being whacked in the face so you can scratch that from your minds but purely because the ball gluided over our heads i notice our keeper not expecting such a precise shot also watched it sale over his head into the top corner.

this did promt a retaliation i will hold my hands up and say at times not a good one, as the half ticked on we missed chance after chance frustration was setting in and as you would want from your players Real did spring some good counter atacks on us many of them coming from the right hand side, Mr Anderson who i am sure is just recovering from the kicks he kept getting mainly from Ebbo.

Anyway we continued pressing and 5 seconds b4 the half time whistle dean Clarke climbed above his marker to head home the equaliser. good timing for us and a royal sacking for the Real boys.

the second half started at a fast pace both teams fighting for control and Real March had the first chance of re taking the lead from some good work on their wing yet again but with their strike force just missing their chances.

for me the game changed when they made a tactical change they put mr Anderton up front removing him from the right wing. strange move as their whole team seemed to be on auto pilot to play the ball out to the right but with this part of the pitch now being un occuppied Eye found the opportunity they needed to start playing football and soon enough we edged ahead with a well worked team goal, Spencer Clarke scoring yet another for the season.

so far i have neglected to mention our right winger Glen, who was sensational that is the best word to describe his performace because he was terrorising Real's left back with his direct approach and speed and then end product almost every time! Resulting in eyes third goal, unfortunately for the tired centre half it was his own goal when a low hard cross was forced in the box he bowed his head only for the ball to strike the back of his neck and loop into the top corner.

I cant help but think that too much change is bad for a team after seeing how well Real March played and reading recent posts from the one and only "Sparkster" with a few games under their belt with the same team we played i am certain a mid table or better finish would be on the cards for them.
Real introduced a young Central midfielder from emneth and he was very good linked up well with an older guy in the middle and again good distibution mainly to the right wing while Mr Anderson was there.

Either way good luck for the season guys tried hard but in my opinion the better team on the day won, Well done to The Eye lads for not pressing self distruct after a very frustrating 45 minutes, maybe where the experience of a few players came in... mr Brown, 3 Clarkes, Mr Hepburn.

But how were the 'box nets'?

I bet there were a few horrible thoughts creeping in when they took the lead.

mr anderton is looking for a new team if there are any offers, he doens't have the internet at work so i said i'd let people know. harbs has even said he was good at attackingand was the main threat from real march.

if any teams are intrested. good report harbs hope you do well in the season,

I think it's due to Emneth Seniors taking over down there Gazza and Sparky's face not fitting, along with numerous others from what i hear.

Michael anderton is better than most of their players. he just wants to win some football matches, harbs may or may not agree as he has played against him, he's a handful and would be a better player if he played with other players who had some quality!

to be fair he's to godd for a reserve team.

teilo how about your team

i will agree with that he really would be a good attribute to any team and i will give you some advise as well, if you want to play aim higher you could get in a prem side. all you have to do is ask around and you can easy get a try out in one of Peterborough prem squads.

oh BTW the box nets were pretty cool i will admit that but sack the lawn mower! the grass was about a foot long around the posts :D

and we were perplexed more than anything we went out with the mentality that we were a strong side and played like it so it was hard to swallow especially when our strikers were mis firing again for 45 minutes!

Sparky pm me if interested or contact Mark Flattley. It will take a period of time to get a transfer to another Peterborough League team so you may as well find out what we're like. We did lose our first game last weekend but had three of the first XI missing including me with ligament problems. Our team clearly need another goalscorer with Peachy the only one scoring on a regular basis.

I think the boys would miss you on here though...
