Yes I have too heard that Emneth Seniors have folded. Not sure whether this is the case also for their reserves. Or, if the reserves haven't folded, whether they will move up to the Division 1 proper. All will be revealed...

You still at Real March then Sparky?

Both teams have been pulled out of the league. Emneth's manager Martin Petit will now take charge of.... Real March!!!

Unfortunately as i have already said michael anderton weear yellow boots. i am the lino. i announced a few weeks ago that i pretended to be michael anderton. i get dropped every week. so nothing new their, michael anderton will keep his place in the team coz he's better than most of the emneth players.

but maybe real march might win a few more games. we have benwick this week then stilton and eye.

i'm sure will enjoy the challenge.

The results may improve, but the poor discipline levels and the card count will rocket. Have been told several of the better players will move on Wisbech Town Res.

Felt sorry for the bloke who had his nose flattened at Werrington because he was new this season to the team. However Emneth under their different guises have played tough for a number of years.

Several years ago one player connected with the team tried to break my leg with a two footed challenge (from behind) after I went past him. He chased me for ages. I won't forget it as I couldn't walk properly for 3 weeks! Have also been spat at and had knees in my nether regions. Sad thing is, most of them are skilled footballers.

I've signed for Estover Park this season in the Cambs 5B League. As they are a new team we go into the bottom league and are currently unbeaten. The good news for me is that we were due to play Emneth in a cup, we now miss that pleasure.

Teilo, I'm sure you have your fair share of 'interesting' games in that league. Personally I think you will always have the odd one or two teams that will gain themselves a bit of a reputation and I am happy to say that I can probably name only 4 teams in the last ten years in the P'boro league, Emneth Seniors (recently), Griffin Pk, Bowling Gn and Wisbech Loco.

Griffin Park and Bowling Green were pretty much the same family...urm i mean team, i think...

i have fond memories of playing them for the first time when my chin was split open by a mini Arnold Schwarzenegger. After being headbutted backwards apparently he 'went for the ball' but their lino who was abit peeved at being lino once again (sound familiar Sparky) told us he picks out one player a game.

Oh the memories... :batr:

 The only one I would add to that is... Park Rangers of Isle League fame. So far, (touch wood) the Cambs League has been relatively trouble free. That said, I had no real issues against any other team in the P'boro League apart from the Jube of old.

Sparky, yes Mark plays on the left side of me whether it is at full back, or left-centre back. The website is www.estoverpark.co.uk Another team to take advantage of the club website. He was on about asking you to dual sign as your yellow boots would look good in our kit!

Slim Bratts, you are referring to a player called Andy Peeling I reckon. Blonde, straw like hair?

i love playing in games like that i dont particularly like the injuries etc that come with them but they are high strung games and very enjoyable.
eye played a corby side that wer full of hungry animals!
im sure if they read that they wouldnt take offence either as its true, only five minutes into the game i put a big but fair challenge in on one of their players who decided a knee in the face was the best reaction which the ref missed then when i stoof up he told me how he was going to eat my face... really set the tone for the game. i think these sort of attitudes generally only come out at the start for intimidation and if they are loosing and frustrated which was the case in this game when the hungry face eaters partner in crime in the middle took a leaf out of the ULTIMATE WARRIORS books and closlined me in my own area ref gave me a free kick but felt it best to stay away from im.
funny thing about the game is they had a lad about 4 1/2 foot tall up front and as small as he was he was ready for a rumble with anyone.
definately something my team can have a laugh about for the rest of the season.
Typically after the game their whole squad were good hosts, although perplexed to see us join them for a drink after the game saying no one has joined them for a drink before!

Harbs - thanks mate you have revived many happy days and memories for me, and the team I ran and played for for many years, Bluestars....

We had plenty of games along the lines you have described. Fortunately we also had plenty of lads who welcomed the opportunity to test "other" skills. Park Rangers and in particular the Stagg brothers would testify to that!
We also had a rather interesting trip to Holland, in which for one particular game it seemed our opponents had drafted in some karate exponents just for the day - still have the game /fight on video - and like you have described, their faces were a picture when we turned up for a beer after the game

Don't condone or condemn, just different circumstances, different attitudes and a different game - but made so many mates for life - God I love football :nwy:

Teilo - It was not him, but i do remember the Worzel Gummidge lookalike as he ran the length of the pitch to have a go at me for giving him some cheek (that was the only running he did)

Top bloke off the pitch though

This is now bringing back so many fond memories, played a Sunday morning game down the A1 just past Huntingdon a few years back, turned up, there was a fan club of about thirty all drinking cans of Stella at 10 in the morning. During the game they pelted us with golf balls...we lost about 10 - 0

A team called Wisbech Loco are going to be nuts really; isn't Loco Spanish for crazy? !! They aren't that bad up there, bark is worse than the bite - the worst ones are in Corby by far. Had a knife pulled on me before - on the pitch by another player from his sock! Then again, I'd be pretty ****ed if I was born in Northants and had a Scottish accent too!

Slim - i remember that game well, played in the middle of a park, there trophy cabinet was on the side of the pitch

The guy that split your chin was bald, loads of tattoo's and his front teeth were missing...i remeber playing at the back n marking some rather LARGE BULL ( GENTLEMAN )...i dont think i have ever come off a pitch with as many aches, pains n bruises as i did that day, we went back to the BOWLING GREEN for a drink n it was like being around completely different people.

From Fenland Citizen

In that game Emneth players were intimidated by people drinking on the touchline and, in a separate incident, a Werrington player is to face Peterborough Magistrates Court this week after allegedly punching Paul Clarke and breaking his nose.

Pettit said: “We have struggled to get players to play at Peterborough since and the league have taken no notice of our complaints.

Now I'm probably not the right person to get involved in any debate about this as I have been warned by the Cambs FA about "my future conduct" after an altercation with Martin and Griffin Park. However the words above are so hollow - struggled to get those guys to come to Peterborough? Martin who are you trying to kid? For years you have fielded teams that pride themselves on intimidating the opposition on and off the park.
Paul Clarke was sent off first game of the season against us and threatened to torch the ref's car. He didn't strike me as the sort of person likely to be intimidated easily.
Surely there is enough left at Emneth to continue one team - they put two teams out last week - now suddenly they fold because the manager leaves. Let's not kid anyone here - this has come about because Martin
got an offer and he wasn't really welcome at Emneth (according to the old guys at the game - and they're building new facilities there). If every club folded when a manager left what state would the league be in?

Anyway enough of that - Sparky - we could always do with a lino here mate - we'll trust u with the flag and buy you an ice cream float after the game. You know it makes sense....
