Whittlesey maintained their 100% start to the campaign with a 3-2 victory over a visiting Holbeach side.

The visitors came with revenge on their mind, with the 5-0 home reverse from Whittlesey still fresh in their memories.

The home side started well in what was an even contest between two good footballing sides. Daniel Fletcher in the home goal produced a wonderful treble save to keep the scores level as the visitors attempted to breach the Whittlesey back line. On 30 minutes the deadlock was broken was wing back Ryan Smith smashed home a close range volley in expert style to put the home side ahead. The scores were level going into the break.

The second half started as competitively as the first, but Whittlesey added a second when Micky Burch cooly lofted a ball over the oncoming visiting keeper. The defecit was reduced though when the Holbeach forward got half a yard in the box and smashed home. Whittlesey were holding out for the win while the opposition pushed for an equaliser, midfielder Matty Heron made it 3-1 to ease the pressure as full time approached, however the vistors were awarded a dubious penalty when a Holbeach player went over in the box. Tempers threatened to boil over as the Whittlesey players were incensed with the officials decision and felt that it was a soft decision. Order was finally restored and they despatched the resulting penalty to reduce the arrears again.

The boys held out for a 3-2 victory to chalk up another three points and despite the scoreline were worthy winners against a good Holbeach side. No game this week and then three Saturdays where we play three cup games in three cup competitions, before returning back to league action.

Nice one Ben, think it was far more comfortable than the result suggests, although fair play to the Holbeach lads, they have improved since our 1st meeting. By the way we were 1:0 up at half time, so should remove the scores were level comment

Hope training goes well tomorrow mate, have a good weekend and I will catch you next Tuesday - Spanish golf /beer permitting

P.S. give Micky his :chl: before training!!!!
