WHITTLESEY made it 4 wins out of 4 with a thumping 5-0 victory over visitors Ramsey Town on Saturday. The boys started off well and should have been 2-0 up after 5 mins, Hibbo had a shot cleared off the line and Matty Heron produced a fantastic save from the visiting keeper.
The deadlock was broken on 15 mins when good work from Micky Burch out wide created an opportunity for Hibbins who cooly tucked away the opportunity. Whittlesey pressed for a second and duly got it on the half hour mark when an excellent free kick was flighted into the box and Hibbins headed home for his second.
The boys had played well but needed to keep the ball better, and that was emphasised at half-time. The front pairing of Burch and Hibbins continued to work well and cause the visiting back line problems, it was soon 3-0 when a goal bound effort from Burch was deflected into the net by the Ramsey defender. Hibbins then made it 4-0 with a great header and wrapped up his 12th of the season with 5 minutes remaining with another fine header. Lots of credit to the Ramsey keeper who kept the scoreline down with 4 superb saves.
Myself, Bluestar and Cozza could not have asked for a better start from the lads, and as we sit top as of this morning its a good feeling, but it is still very early days and there is a long way to go, it's an old cliche in football but is very true at Whittlesey 'one game at a time'.
Next week we turn our attentions to the Cambs Cup and a trip to Stetham Hotspurs
