Well I can't complain with yesterdays result. Was a bit nervous having seen the score last week against Bretton.
The lads really took it to em in the first half. The Sutton keeper made a fine save in the first couple of minutes from Crofty after good work from Gilbert. Another good cross with Chris rising like a tin of salmon and heading over. It didn't take too long for Gilbert to supply a killer cross for Rob to poke in from close range. The second came via a move through the middle with the ball breaking to Daz Birch and the defence calling for off side and a smart finish back across the keeper. Unfortunately I then get distracted with a head injury to Rik which needs the attention of the proffesionals (not Bodie and Doyle for those old enough to remember), but just before Rik decided to hit the deck we did manage to see Gilbert supply another killer ball for Daz/Defender to poke in.
I now miss the first 25mins of the second half and by all accounts Sutton went for it with 3 up front and a fair amount of pressure for the Coates defence. Storm weathered and a few long range shots I return to see 2 Coates lads off injured and us pushing forward. A long range shot from Stu saw the keeper fumble and Gilbert to knock in the rebound. Bout time he stopped day dreaming. Sutton were now starting to look tired on a hot day and Heron was starting to make the defence work hard missing with half opportunities a couple of times. In the last 10 mins he did mange to out pace and muscle the Sutton defence, finishing well for 2 goals.
All round a good performance. Some sharpe off the line gathers from Liam. Some good defending against a lively centre forward. A sweeper that rounded the keeper (Beresi style) and fluffed it. And a couple of unnecessary kicks off the ball that we didn't react to (good boys). Rik in casualty for 5 hours for a couple of stitches and a few beers after a good game of footy. Jobs a good en.
