View Full Version : Christmas Cracker of a Weekend
Tommy Trophy

With 6 of the top 7 facing each other this Saturday and any one of the top 3 possibly being the xmas number 1 this promises to be a great way to finish the first half of the season.
Moulton v Leverington
Not sure how bad the injury problems are at Moulton, but Leverington are playing well at present and are always a tough fixture in anycase - draw for me.
Parson Drove v Hotpoint
A win for Parson Drove would put them into the top 3 and very much part of the title race - not a game either side would want to lose (like them all really). Go for a Hotpoint win - just.
Alconbury v Ortonians
Alconbury are also in splendid form, scoring plenty of goals and with the scalp of Moulton still fresh in their pockets. However if we are to confound the general opinion that we are the outsiders in this title race, this is the type of game we need to be looking to win.
Tommy's right, there's definitely some juicy looking fixtures for this weekend. I reckon every single game could go either way and we should not just focus on the top 3:
Alconbury Vs Ortonians (gonna stick my neck out and go for Alconbury to win by the odd goal in 5)
Long Sutton Vs Bels (Bels should win, but Sutton may surprise me)
Moulton Vs Leverington (0-0)
Drove Vs Hotpoint (Draw for me)
PSL Vs Pinchbeck (PSL to win by 2 goals)
Uppingham Vs Oundle (slim Oundle win)
Whittlesey Vs Crowland (couldn't possibly comment in case i shoot myself in the foot)
Wimblington Vs Perkins (hopefully Perkins will return to winning ways)
:snt:
Alconbury v Ortonians as Tommy says they need to win this one and probably will sneak it 2-1
Long Sutton v Bels, Bels to win by 2 goals
Moulton v Leverington, massive local derby and they don't like each other ! Moulton to scrape it by the odd goal
PSL v Pinchbeck, win for PSL comfortably
Uppingham v Oundle, a 2 goal win for Oundle
Whittlesey v Crowland, very impressed with Whittlesey saturday and looking to be getting a good side together again, win it by the odd goal
Wimblington v Perkins, again Perkins by the odd goal
Parson Drove v Hotpoint, need to get a result here to be taken seriously if we are to be title contenders, time to show we can go to these sort of places and get results, there is no hiding places for us anymore
I think there will be a few surprises this weekend
Alconbury v Ortonians
Alconbury win 3-0 they are flying at the moment ,but they loose the points due fielding a illegal paleyr in astrange twist of fate .Tommy Quits, team revolt because they are all upset
Moulton v Leverington
Close this one Leverington to win 2-1 and keep climeing the table in a unspectaculer manner,12 sent off aswell
Wimblington vPerkins
Only one winner here Wimblington Old Boys,Gino quits just in time to take over at ortonians as tommy leaves for whittlesey
Parsons Drove v Hotpoint
Simple this one Hotpoint win 3-0 Matt Leftley Hat -trick
Funny old game aint it

Very good Charlie - you seem very well informed????? However you can have 1,000,000-1 on me quitting before the end of the year, which rather messes up your anticipated chain of events, besides which Roger Daniels would never make a mistake like I did.
Wondered if anyone was going to pick up on the PFA cup game with Alconbury - all water under the bridge now as far as I am concerned - suppose I will never know what they did and didn't know, but end of the day it is irrelevant - I cocked up - was treated harshly - out of cup - end of story - it's only a game of football!
Has no bearing on Saturday's game, though we have won every game since the decision, so have shown a pretty good reaction.
Alconbury have improved significantly since then and to go to a team in the top half of the table and win is never going to be easy.
Hope this more honest, easy going style meets with everyones approval
Not well informed just know a few lads at the club ,and you know that people will always talk after a few pints(coke that is) so is it true can you afford to loose a striker and got down to two (please correct me if im wrong ).
Another thing ,after talking to the lads they seem 100% behind you and desperate to win the league title .so maybe spec has it wrong(wouldnt be the first time would it)

Bit of a tough one Charlie, because as I say no-one has spoken to me re Matt Leftley, and Matt himself was not available last Saturday - will no doubt find out if there is any truth in it when I ring him tonight?
We have a fairly small squad this season, which seems to be working in our favour and though I would rather not lose a striker, we do have cover if needed.
Though we may be quite a distance away from being the best drinking team in the league, there is as you rightly point out nothing wrong with our team spirit and I believe that makes up for not quite having the same quality of player as some clubs.
Who r u Charlie or r u talking to yourself again Tommy :blh: :blh: :blh: :blh: :blh: :blh: :blh:

I'm hardly likely to want to publicise a player potentially being unhappy and looking to leave am I half-wit?
Believe it or not there are 1 or 2 people who choose not to abuse me every time I post, though given the number that do no matter what I say is it any wonder I don't just choose to use a stupid name like Bitch and be done with it?
I have had my fun with my alter ego's and been exposed - not used them for weeks and won't again - always been more than happy to put my name to my opinions and probably always will.

well i was in nottingham watching david grey i still have my ticket's so me not being available was for a genuine reason and yes i think a few people no that i am not happy with my football at Ortonians and that has no bearing on Tommy or the players you ether suit a style of football or you don't and i am struggling to find my confidence there. Tommy knows what's happening severn days have gone in for me and i did ask for a transfer 6 weeks ago and have done my best to try and get it right i hope this clears this up i apologise for this issues coming out in way it has .
Well this makes a change ,well done matt for getting on here and putting the record straight (so are you going) clubs will always have ago at unsettling other clubs players and this seems to be the case with this ,

Blimey Matt the wormed turned fast there!!!
Only agreed to transfer you 15 minutes ago - and ahead of the completion of the 7-days to allow you to play Saturday.
Hope it works out better for you at Hotpoint, though we are left pretty bear - just another of those challenges that life throws at you!
Matt going leaves you bare??!!
Thought Robbo said on a previous post (in the war of words with Spec) that you have already filled the space?
Robbo does not know wot goes on at Ortonians he is just full of s**t
offside that's not very nice now is it . yes I did say that we had filled the gap I would like to say good luck to Matt on moving to Hotpoint I wish him all the best great lad nice family ( crap drinker ) .don't really think it was the style of football that did not suit him more that we could not play with two forwards that play in the same way. as long as you keep playing like you are playing for the oak that will do for me.one more thing Matt expect to wake up one morning and fined two cockerels in your back garden lol,,,,
the thing is offside I know who you are see you soon
matty going to Hotpoint what ever happened to players staying and fighting for there place. but will you get in at Hotpoint matty i would say that Hotpoint have a better front line than ortonians.what i have seen and herd its your defense that needs sorting out spec.but if a player comes along like matt better in your squad than tommys squad.so tommy robbo i think you have lost out here.but you have a replacement.so who is he do we no him ?????????? :snt: merry exmas to you all
I think matt has made a brave choice ,as with every player he is not guarented a game but do hotpoint need him !Matt is a great players and will be a asset to Hotpoint .
As for Ortonians they will be fine ,they are one of those teams that score goals from all over the park Kaye,Baines,Fogg,Rasen,Pailing to name but a few aswell as Bloden and Ayres scoring and creating ,so really cant see to many problems .
But the big Question is why has Matt left what did he feel was so bad a Ortonians
Matt,
Robbo's right your drinking has got to improve now,you was terrible on sunday.I hope your finishing is better on saturday than it was at training last night too.

well Darcy after 10 pints of cider and a dirty pint a double gin all in two hours had to do a visit to the church good lady not impressed i got lost in the ****ing church and could not find them how ever she then took me to my local italian fantastic more beer and then on to the blue boar by which time you were probably at home making mince pies and playing scrabble sorry i must of missed you at training well didn't notice you any way . my chickens are fine without a cock thanks robbo and all the best to your self for the season.

To the boss i think i have done my fair share of fighting fo my place and having only missed one game since signing and starting in over 90% of the games the reason i have left is not that issue and will i get in hotpoint well what ever happened to players fighting for there place well that's exactly what i have to do now and only time will tell but im confident i will BE OK .
Good luck at hotpoint matt only have to put up with ya sundays now!

Replacement for Matt signed tonight - 24 hour turnaround!
Player with a proven goalscoring record at this level and played higher. He can't play Saturday so will be revealed after xmas.
Players come and go all the time, and Matt follows Brads & Darcy as what appears to be our annual present to Hotpoint - time you gave us 1 back?
Unfortunately might not be the last piece of business we have to do, as 4 of our players are being actively courted by other sides, though at least they are from higher football - don't have a problem with that at all - have coped when Kevin Childs, Jon Patten, Ian Fovargue, Lee Tyler & Aaron Bannie took similar paths in the last couple of years.
Life's tough at the bottom of the ladder!
Well tommy come on who is the big signing ,As for youre players attracting UCL sides there is only on who would fit the bill and thats Bainsy ,maybe you are deluding yourself because of the loss of yet another player

Blimey Matt the wormed turned fast there!!!

Not sure if you have transferred out yet Matt - form needs to be in within the next 10 minutes - not getting cold feet?!!!!!!!
If you noticed during the summer I never got involved in saying who I was signing etc. - as people have a tendency to change their minds quickly around here - never assume I have a player until they actually play for you, but he has signed. Obviously not in your league - your return of 9 goals in 17 games was more than acceptable, even if things had dried up a bit in the past 2 months - I just wonder who is going to be left out for you?
Charlie, I can GUARANTEE that quite apart from Baines we have been made aware of other higher clubs interest for 3 other players - and these are just the ones we have found out about.
Naturally I think a lot of all of our players and think they could ALL play higher if they so wish - and I sincerely hope that at some point in their careers they do.
How many goals has Lee Ayres GOT
Tommy Trophy
15-12-2005, 14:50
Mr Ayres has managed 53 goals in 95 appearances (=0.56 goals per game) which is of course comparable with Mr Leftley (0.53 goals per game).
Heard that our Mr Judge signed the transfer form for you Matt. In traditional Ortonians manner you will now be subjected to endless abuse until you return your tracksuit / training tops - hope at Hotpoint you get something a little more substancial to keep you warm on a Saturday afternoon!
New signing all done and dusted - have sent him away to a secret hideaway for xmas where he will work on his fitness and come out all guns blazing New Year. Put that alongside the emergence of the 2 teenagers and the return from long term injury of Paul Attfield, Nicky Robinson & Kylie Ellis and things are looking pretty rosey if a little competitive for us in January.
New signing - it must be Robbo centre forward and I think he scored a goal at one time or is the new signing his bother nicky
matt leftley
15-12-2005, 16:06
well i would like to think my goal average was a little better than the legendary mr ayres only started in 13 or 14 and was only aloud to complete 3 full games im sure you will give me some true figures on that though tommy don't need much to keep me warm apparently hotpoint have real benches and they don't fall down in the wind wow thank you mr judge for possibly saving me another intolerable weekend ow and a big cheers to spec :pty:
So Tommy if when you play Hotpoint and the final score is shall we say 3-3 and Mr Ayres and Mr Leftley both score a hatrick does that mean you will according to your stats try to claim a 1.68 - 1.59 victory?
Marvellous you hear nothing from leftley all season and now he moves clubs he cant keep off the site . Nearly as many posts as goals I thought he was coming to whittlesey
Interesting to see how he gets on from now at new club and perhaps Whittlesey later on
The fact of the matter is both Mr Ayres and Mr Leftley are very good strikers,Leftley likes to play of the shoulder off the last man and is very strong and Powerful and also has a good eye for goal ,Mr Ayres is a back to goal player ,very good with ball at his feet and bringing others into the game (i think they call it a link man )never thought he scored as many goals as he has ,that suprised me so obviousley he scores a few.
matt leftley
15-12-2005, 16:25
well offside i have been on for a lot longer than you think my friend i do have a hidden identity as for whittlesey well not sure about that one and i will not be leaving hotpoint any way i can assure you, nice to see you boys are plying a lot better now anyway

15-12-2005, 16:29
Good maths wftamu (what does that mean?) - at least that would be closer than most of our games! (oops sorry delete that from your memory banks - agreed to a truce - love Hotpoint - love Hotpoint - my spreadsheet does not go as far as goals per minute on the pitch I am afraid!)
Matt unfortunately we worked out that keeping you on for 90 minutes was going to cost us £113.48p a game in oxygen and resusatation equipment plus having an ambulance crew on stand-by each Saturday. One game whilst you were down injured Wills implanted a redomiter into the back of your neck which alerted us to imminent cardio meltdown.
We also placed a touchomiter into your boots before 1 game, so we could monitor the accuracy of your first touch - unfortunately we could never get the bloody thing to work properly, as the needle kept going off the scale.
All the best for Saturday fella - hope you start banging them in for Hotpoint like you do on a Sunday!
I cant just tell you, so i'll give you a clue 6 words, current chant at a certain club, ? ? ? ? ? United.
I will give you an extra word each time you guess if you get it within 3 tries i'll buy you a beer next time i bump into you, if you dont you owe me one.
This could be bigger than Sudoku!

15-12-2005, 16:47
well i feel confident thanks tommy and am looking forward to it as well so hopefully the goals will follow. when you cover as much ground as a fit guy like my self does it no wonder i need oxygen as for my first touch i can not say allot at the min had a little plea to god in church on sunday mate how ever still looking sharp when im in the box and doing it on sundays the service is very good they pass to you when your in the box its amazing good luck for sat mate hope you stuff them really after the pfa cup fiasco.
Hey Matt dont tell me you left cuz they wouldnt pass to you!!

15-12-2005, 16:54
Who the **** are Man United - quite simple really - so a beer it is - don't think I have forgotten you abused me on the Hotpoint subject - still I can find it in my heart to forgive you - who am I to start complaining about being abused anyway for Gods sake.
Can you play football - what are you doing Saturday?
Tom i work for the same company as you and going by you internet use ,you are a bone -idle as they say
matt leftley
15-12-2005, 17:09
it was a standing joke mate is not the reason i left but nobody would denie that a certain player would not pass and it was unbelievable sometimes
Come on spill the beans matt
Nobody likes a smart arse, think i was a bit too generous with my clues, but a bets a bet so you will have a pint of beer coming your way, i would practise ducking if i were you!
Sadly i work most weekends so i've got a ready made excuse for not being good enough to get into most teams!
Got this weekend of so i think i might take in either your's or PSLs game.
Matt know you were a very good player when Perkins won the league but think Ayres has the call on you now
But you perhaps can do a job if the players round you are very good like the Hotpoint lads. Mind you Goodayle is very much like you in stylre but a bit quicker and a better finisher. Bad loss for Whittlesey
Offside you are spot on with that observation, Ayres is far better all round player ,matt cant expect to be a reguler starter at his age and fitness (even know he is still a good player) .
I think he is one for coming off the bench
matt leftley
16-12-2005, 16:10
you really do sound like tommy r you connected in any way and why the debate on who is a better striker. well at 33 i will be in the top three hot shots for the season and have not had a prediction wrong for many years i know my capability's and set my own goals and keep them to myself usually i do not brag to make my self a better player either the records are there for all to see and speak louder than words this is my first season back at prem level for four years and have not played a great deal in those years either so to get this season done and in a side in the top three is a good start for me. mr ayres is a very good player and have never doubted it so i expect him to up there at the end as well ow and i myself look to start. but as you as you say im a bench player so if achieve what i have set from there shame on all those who finish behind me. :gun:
Nothing to do with tom ,i admit ive had the odd drink with him (who aint)but throughtout this matt i have never doubted your ability (please read through previous e-mails )jsut pointing out it is a brave move ,you must admit that, but there is no so called "who is the best campaign "at the end of the day you and ayres are completley diffrent players (even though he never passed to you)
matt leftley
16-12-2005, 16:48
who said it was him who was not passing? and you have not knocked my ability, did not say you did. brave move no a challenge yes, i am not fitting in to the football there so had to do some thing and play with 5 or 6 of the hotpoint lads on sundays and am loving it so hopefully it will continue there.
Matt fair play to you mate. It is good to see that you have still got the appetite to play regularly from the start. As I said to you after you had cracking Charity Shield back in August I felt that you had lost that urge to play and in my words had become a bit of a miserable git. I think you agreed? Good luck to you for the rest of the season. You have played at Hotpoint before haven't you?
Having read your posts Matt I hope they have a big door on the dressing room at Hotpoint or you may have trouble squeezing your head in
Have to disagree with previous comment by Charlie that Matt should expect to be benched due to age and fitness. Last season (and for the past 6+ seasons) Tony Saunders was Crowland's top goal scorer (admittedly it was division one, although i'm sure he could have performed at prem level for a number of years) and he turned 40 this year!! If you're good enough you play as long as your body allows you to.
I'm sure Matt Leftley will be amongst the top goal scorers in the league because he's a strong player and seems to be in the right place at the right time, plus he's got a rocket shot on both feet like Jimmy Flloyd Hasselbaink!! If he earns his place on merit, he should keep it.
Did Matt score for Hotpoit or Ayres for Ortons
Tommy Trophy
18-12-2005, 13:02
Ayres notched our 2nd goal, and with Glen Bolden getting the first it was a good day for our strikers, especially with our new signing watching on.
Debut for Kylie Ellis, who replaced Darren Fogg when he broke his leg and for Darren Green. As with Mr Leftleys departure moved quickly last night to secure a replacement for Darren, though he hopes to be back by the end of the season.
Alconbury will finish around 7th or 8th I think if they are able to get that strong a team out every week - pretty decent side though their treatment of Mark Baines was shall we say a little agricultural!
Very good wins for Hotpoint & Moulton mean it is very tight at the top. Just hope other sides don't fall away in the 2nd half of the season like they did last year and that it stays this competitive right to the wire

It was good to see Moulton back to winning ways against leverington yesterday, will be a tough few months without our 2 main center mids and the winter break is more than welcome! :snt:
I thought you struggled yesterday against a useful Leverington outfit. A rush of blood to the head on behalf of Brendon, who was correctly dismissed had a big effect on the outcome of the game. Mind you Locke's goal was pure class and was worthy of winning any game let alone just settling the result. It promises to be an exciting remainder of the season when you all return fresher if not a little heavier in a fortnight. Enjoy the break.
