Wow i see P.N.S have a squad bigger than Chelsea and Liverpool together, wonder why all theses players didn't come to your last club tommy "££££££££" and can Fletton have your scraps after 4 weeks please. maybe a coach would be a good investment as well they all won't fit in to a mini bus and are you going to buy some floodlights as well?

Didn't need money to completely dominate the Peterborough League for 3 years Matt.

Also didn't have access to the funds as I do now!

However, it is amazing this obsession everyone has with cash - there were 9 players involved on Tuesday with whom I have not even had a conversation about money - they are just trying to get in the squad.

Now that we have Seamus in place for the ressies I have no doubt that there will be a decent number of players who will play there if they do not get in the first team regularly - but you never know!

Out of interest, where can you view PNS' squad/signings?

I will be putting it on our website when finalised

Tommy - from what I understand, your close season spending would make even Conrad Black wince with embarrasment. If you've got any cash left, I've got a couple of horses I'm looking to move on - interested ? - remember you'll need something to do from March onwards next year when you're at a loose end on a saturday ! :soo:

I seem to have gained a month then Bainer, as it was February when I was going to get sacked a couple of weeks ago - amazing what 1 friendly victory does - apparently the first victory by PNS over March in 5 attempts?

Was a very good game last nite tommy your new look team looked very sharp and organised and will deffinately up there pushing for honours at the end of the season. I would probably agree with your comments in the paper that you didnt deserve to lose but the difference was we took our chances and you didnt!

All the best for the coming season

PNS had a comfortable 2-0 win tonight over a spirited Hampton side who acquited themselves well.

Still smarting from Saturday's reverse at Skegness, PNS blasted out of the traps and forced 6 corners in the first 5 minutes.

They had to wait until the 37th minute to take the lead with a Karl Gibbs shot from the edge of the area. The lead was doubled 5 minutes into the 2nd half with a Steve Phillips header from a Steve Paling cross after Karl Gibbs had hit the inside of the post with a 25 yard effort.

Hampton had few chances to trouble emergency keeper Patryk Gawrysiak who once again did a good job between the sticks and the game rather petered out with both sides content with their nights work.

i see you arranged to play hampton and whittlesey tommy, so why did you turn down the offer to play PSL? or should i say why didnt you get in touch when i asked you for a pre season game? are we to good for you?

be nice to meet you in the county cup, good luck for the season

Because Al our pre-season schedule has been put together by specialists at the University of Football Endurance in New York aimed at ensuring we peak at the right time.

Unfortunately it did not allow for a cruciate ligament injury, a broken collarbone, people who would rather play with their mates or play Rugby, sign on for 2 clubs, ill, working, holiday, injured toe, heel, ankle, sunstroke etc. etc. (same s**t different club) and so the idea of playing 3 teams from higher, 2 from the same level and 1 from lower did not quite go to plan!

In all seriousness Humpy just got their first and Whittlesey was a last minute thing as I wanted to play at least 1 game on the middle pitch which we will be doing Tuesday.

It would be good to meet in the County Cup, and give you a chance to improve your record against me (lol) , but to be honest I am not really interested in that cup, as it would take 6 weeks out of the season to get to the final and would get in the way of the only target which is promotion - not sure the players would feel the same mind you!

Looking forward to seeing how you and Alconbury are shaping up tonight - I will be in 1 of the corners with a pair of binoculars and a disguise!

As Napoleon said Al - "better to be a lucky general than a good one" or something like that.

At least you are recognising us as a UCL side now (quote to Lee about going to PNS or a UCL side!?)

Last couple of weeks have reminded me what an idiot I am for coming back to into this thankless business, but the buzz is just too damm strong to resist!

Glad I didn't convince Joe Duffy to join us - I have got around my 5 right back issue but now have 6 centre halfs - on the look out for a wide midfielder as I seem to have mislaid a couple of those - any tips?

How did you get Chris Plummer to play last night? Is he going to be available for the season or was he just getting rid of a few cobwebs.

Oh, and Foggy needs anger management sessions. Plus, if he's going to jeopardise the team effort by getting sent off, he may as well punch the opposition than throw a few girly slaps in the direction of someone on the floor.

Tommy Trophy
10-08-2007, 13:26
Foggy says it was "showing restraint" he had a real mardi on though all night.

What does he expect from Alex Foster - though the tackle did start on Wednesday.

Not as bad as Chipy though and that was a bit naughty on Phil who did show some restraint - mind you as neither him or Foggy can punch it is just as well that he didn't get involved.

At least Phil was right that it was Jemini that scored 0 points for GB in the 2003 Eurovision Song Contest (like he did on the punchbag Saturday) with Cry Baby. Did you know that it is 10 years since Katrina and the Waves won with Love Shine a Light?

Thank you Andy for your kind words!! And yours Mr cooper!! Was in a mardi and you know why - I WILL prove you wrong!!

I thought I showed some restraint as was not happy  with a very bad tackle. But what annoyed me more now was his attitude when reg spoke to him/us, when he balantly just said yeah I know i did it, i meant to do it and was not sorry about it - idiot!!

After 18 months of not playing seriously due to a broken leg I did not need a tackle like that!! And coincedentally, alex "the idiot" foster actually played in the game when I broke it!!

Chippes was a very bad tackle also!! But "zero the hero" did not know what to do!!

Fair play to reg though who knowing I was steaming handled it brilliantly!!

none better then thackham on the wing tommy, but only if can you afford him? he is getting £50 pr week sure if you match it you have a chance, young coxy is worth a shout if you can get him to play. dale martin whittlesey not bad either. but im guessing its a little dig yeah? very good young man!!

Tommy Trophy
10-08-2007, 15:02
Actually it wasn't Al - sorry but I am a bit out of practice with my sly digs after my year out but promise to try harder - no doubt you have a warm welcome in store for Luke - as you know we are only paying expenses to our players in line with HM Customs & Exise regulations and never have been able to compete with Alconbury whose depository of cash is legendary.

At least it is only a player they took from you Al - they had our entire website away! (oops sorry - know this is taboo now!)

forget thackham on the wing tommy, how bad was he tonight?

he should never have been allowed to played as he owe's psl money.

im gutted should have had 25 goals :bst:

Well done Al and all at Sports. In a one sided game right from the start Sports dominated throughout and in my opinion looked very sharp.I thought Brett and Anthony got a lot of good things going.Anthony being the stopper and Brett creating a lot.Front 2 as sharp as ever and so impressive.Solid at the back to.A very impressive performance and it looks like Roger and Barry have a lot of work to do for Alconbury to be challenging for honours this year.

Tommy Trophy

I thought Thackham did ok actually as well as the number 6 in midfield who scored the Alconbury goal - apart from that not so good. You have to feel a bit for Roger who does not deserve to be on the end of something like that.

PSL looked different gravy and I am glad we did not have a friendly with them! Joe & Ben looked at ease, midfield balance was good - thought Quinney had a very good game as well as Bellamy and forwards shouldn't really be playing at that level (but don't want to open up that debate again!!)

Would be nailed on to win the league if it wasn't for the suspensions, but have to be strong favourites none the less

carefree

one decent cross by thackham which no one got on the end off, gave the ball away countless times, lost 95% of the 50/50 tackles his ronaldo steps overs then losing the ball cheaply to young Daryl Todd, Todd had him in his pocket the 1st half so he switched sides for the 2nd half, then Randell took care of him  poor free kicks 2 str8 at the wall with no effort, ummm not a bad proformance, but saying that i'd have him back at PSL tomorrow i think nerves got the better of him no joking.

Roger put the team out so does deserve it.and was very lucky it wasn't alot more!

bainsey should not have signed for you tommy but he did because he respects you, (i know he has left now but you did get him to sign), reason why my lads signed for me.

Anton Sgroi will come in for ben, and i have a replacement ready to fill jamies boots, bellamy will only miss 2- 3 league games due to the cups and league rep game and i also have his spot covered.

the difficult one could be 8th sept v Fletton with Duffy,Lawrence, Bellamy,Rankin, Graham all out suspended. so if we can manage a point will be happy.

PNS drew their final friendly of the season 1-1 with Whittlesey this evening. After a bright start from the visitors, PNS took control and Eddie Patten scored after 27 minutes when Whittlesey failed to clear a corner.

The 2nd half was much more even, with Whittlesey equalising on the hour with a James Pucillo penalty after a rash challenge on the edge of his box from Dave Beeney in the PNS goal.

Chances were few and far between after that and both sides will take positives from the game - PNS for their first half control against the wind and Whittlesey for how strong they finished and look like a side who will be back challenging this season in the Peterborough League

I agree that Whittlesey look definite title challengers for this season. Very well organised last night. Slight worry about the fitness of some PNS players though.

I'd go along with that. The second half was dire half of football. I thought Whittlesey won the midfield battle, as they should have, since PNS were very narrow in there with just the three. Even more so for Speechley spending most of his time bitching at the ref and assistant for every decision, rather than moving the ball early, controlling it or getting caught in possession. Gibbs had a quiet game, not liking the physical approach of the Whittlesey centre halves an Teddy was anonymous second half.

Motm was the short(ish) CH for Star. Sorry, didn't catch his name.

Agree with the fitness thing guys and the 2nd half comments - this was a case of the result being less important than getting 90 minutes into some players who I would normally have taken off.

Our problems in midfield have been well catalogued with Baines and Kilby flying the nest late in the day after we had agreed with McPartlin that he would go back to Moulton and with pretty much every player on the books being either on holiday or injured through pre-season it has been a tough ride.

Replacing a whole side was always going to be tough and it might take us 5 or 6 weeks to get everything working as we want it etc. and we will all have to be patient. I appreciate that this might mean us playing catch up following some tough early season assignments, but I am working hard (but fair!) in trying to entice the couple of players I believe we need to make us serious contenders

Andy

Don't get me wrong, Tommy, there were positives to take. The defence looked pretty well organised and solid - your 'keper didn't have a lot to do.

PNS won 1.0 yesterday. Unfortunetly I was sub so can give my views on the game

A good start from PNS with us looking like we were going to get off to a flyer, However after 15 mins Rothwell started o take control and for the rest of the halfwe were abit all over the place defensively and could easily have been 1 or 2 down at halftime. Rothwell also missed a penalty in the first half although Beeney had it covered!! :nwy:

Second half and again we started brightly and could have scored but we also seemed to slack off after 15 mins and allowed Rothwell to get back into the game ( there front 2 were really lively but thomo at the back was very good) Into the last 15-10mins and Rothwell had gone and with PNS finishing strong and a couple of subs making a real impact we hit the post and bar while missing a couple of really good chances.

Into the last couple of mins and we win a pen after some good work by wayne morris and steve phillips put it into the top corner after picking himself up from being fouled.

A good start with some good performances going forward but PNS will have to improve defensively to figure in the title race but with the excellent eddie pattern to come back in I'm sure they will.
