Just to let you all know that PNS training starts in earnest next Tuesday July 3rd at Chestnut Avenue (7pm) - all decent players with true ambition are invited to come and have a look at what we are all about.

Friendly schedule is: -
Tues July 17th - March Town (Home - 6.45)
Tues July 24th - Holbeach United (Home 7.30)
Sat July 28th - Bourne Town (Home 3pm)
Tues July 31st - Blackstones (Away tbc)
Sat Aug 4th - Skegness Town (Away 3pm)
Thurs Aug 9th - Hampton Athletic (Home 6.30)

Big boost for the reserves is that they will be playing on the fantastic main pitch next season and we are looking like having a really strong 2nd team that will be aiming for promotion every bit as hard as the first team

Goodness me Tommy. Did you not learn enough lessons when you went to Skegness with Ortonians ? I heard you're still paying off your drinks bill to keep "prodigal son" Baines and his counterpart Mr. Fogg in beers !!!!!! To be fair I thought you'd be able to afford 7 quid for Foggy's share !!!!!

3 bottles of Hooch for the boy and 4 Mars bars for Foggy did not put too big a hole in my pocket to be honest.

Ear still aching from literally 3 hours I spent on the phone last night reminding everyone about training start date etc. and a couple of interesting conversations with people I had previously written off.

Comment around other players with ambition to match that of the club is very relevant - wonder how many people will turn up that I have not yet spoken too?

Come on Tommy - You know better than that. Time to change your standard response to that question - Poor!!

Anyway told you, getting fit for the coming season and looking forward to dougie running me into the ground!! And looking forward to skeg again, this time you might get a lift home afterwards instead of thinking your superman!! And you might see your lady at the ground again - what was she? That s right 96 :wed:

Coach booked for the Skegness friendly - should be a good game and interestingly they have applied to join the UCL next season already.

Looking forward to meeting up with my floozy and hope that she still has all of her own teeth still - and that she still has a pulse (or recent pulse)

Will try and have the ban lifted on the 4 people who were turfed off the water slide and that they have raised the weight restriction on the dodgems for your Foggy. Also trying to find out if the classy lasses from Yorkshire are going to be there for the ****ed Family Robinson to enjoy!

As for the weight restrictions! Seem to remember the dodgems were your idea? But no one go on with you!!

Just make sure you can make yourself beautiful for your girlfriend!! Her teeth, perm and all

As for the Robbo's - Don't want them hanging around me like last time - Nicky wanted me as an honour family member at one point - Wonder Why? Same again Nicky?? :soo:

25 at first session last night - about 8 missing through work, holiday and even 4 injuries!

Some new unexpected faces as well as no shows from some I did expect - nothing changes!

The guys behind the scenes also had a meeting with the PFA last night and things are moving forward off the pitch as well.

Having missed out on a couple of targets, could have 3 big signings lined up for the end of this week - fingers crossed and watch this space!

Good session tommy and like you said some old faces and new. Session was harder than expected but as I said in another thread - needs must!! Found it hard but expect to and will get better - usual foggy duck out in the Game after a bad call :soo:

Credit to Dougie and Jon as good session and always encouraging even if they do not like you - eh Ayresy?

Another 3 signings? There was a lot there last nite and some missing - Gotta be careful you not sign to manyTommy, although you know what you are doing - i think!!

Peterborough Northern Star website has now been created at www.clubwebsite.co.uk/peterboroughnorthernstar - stick it in your favourites why don't you!

Nothing much on there yet but will build it up.

This is actually free to set up and is easy to administer, so anyone who fancies their own site should do it

Yep seems easy to add content - I added all of our 1st and reserve team fixtures to xmas in about 20 minutes last night

See that Perkins are playing Rothwell Corinthians at home on July 28th which is the same day as we play Bourne at home - might have to send Vince Siccardi Chief Scout extrordinaire down to watch unless Al you can change the kick off time so that I can come!

Tomorrow is our first "friendly" against March, but as I am fielding 2 different sides in each half is really being treated as a first blow out, especially with Mark Baines, Ricky Speechley, Paul Hill, Gary Roddis, Jason Doggett & Steve Thompson all unavailable through work, holiday or injured reasons

Hi Tommy
Im sure if the domain address would be of use to you Adrian (The Chairman) would have no problems registering it your way so it diverts to your new site. But it is his domain as he purchased it so would have to be done via him.

He's on holidays at the minute if you would like me to try and sort that for you I shouldnt think it would be a problem just let me know Cheers mate.

£1 to get in last night!

No problem with money Spec - everyone in the first team squad on match day gets paid and was very clear that not everyone is on the same deal - I got quite creative around appearances, goals etc. so a like-for-like can not be made - everyone aware of this - however the really important stuff - the footie!

Nothing to read into either side that was selected and was nice that both actually won.

Result irrelevant in friendlies, but I suppose better to get off to a positive start and winning 3-0 better than losing 3-0.

Start to get more serious next week after another training session on Thursday and who knows the manager might even get a chance to watch the next game!

Good result last night for PNS. Strong opposition in March although they did seem to struggle in the 18 yard box. Good turn out too for local people. Many old faces on show. Even your mentor Mr. Judge putting in an appearance. He did drive off at speed when Wils mentioned him getting the beers in !!!!!!

Good run out last nite and nothing really to be taken out of it apart from our first time at kicking a footie in earnest!!

Was a few there last nite and expect a few more next week for Holbeach as local (ish) derby!!

Tommy watch a game - that is Funny!!

Expect it to get a bit more serious now with us having a big squad and people well aware that it will be getting trimmed down game by game!! Hopefully, I am not one of the unlucky few that will be told not good enough!!

Was good to see you have a run out Darren, looked easy enough for u at the back,I thought the game started off at a fast pace.Must admit i was more impressed with the second half team than the first.Favell and Gibbs worked hard and closed down well and their pace will hurt many a defence, if selected of course. Was totally disgusted with the attitude of a few of March players, had it not been a friendly 2 players would have been sent off for foul and abusive language.March thought they should have had a penalty and a "goal-line clearance" from a corner was also said to be over the line by a number of March players who then decided to call the Lino a f*****g cheat for saying it wasnt. So i was glad to get back to reffing but Jesus, earplugs needed most definataly.

Andy
18-07-2007, 09:36
I saw the second half and, friendly or not, Tommy, I'd have called the players for the **** they were giving you. Especially the March captain, number 8 i think. He called you at least three words beginning with 'C' when arguing about a tackle where the Star player blatantly got the ball.

Foggy, you looked ok at the back. Never seen you play there, before. The forwards in the secind half impressed, apart from Favell's dirty rap on the ankles of the March right back. Eddie Patten looked good, too.

PNS should be playing Holbeach tmrw nite with a 7.15 kick off. Should be another good run out and as we have 3 games this week it should be a good week for us.
Unfortunately some can not play tmrw (inc myself ) due to injuries or other commitments but with Whittlesey and Bourne also to come this week there is plenty of opportunity for people to prove themselves and stake there claim for a first team place.

Andy

Damn this forum is quiet.

I'll be off to Chestnut Avenue for the first half, tonight. Will be a good test for PNS. Holbeach are a pretty decent prem team and, since Creasey has returned, will have a bit more experience in the management ranks, possibly freeng up Shaun to play a bit more.

I see that seamus is your new reserve manager which has attracked me so i will be comming along to training, but it doesent say much about the reserves? ie friendleys, if there will be 1st team oppertunites as such.

I guess my main concern is, obviously there's always a gap on saturday football were there is either 1st team players or reserve players refusing to make that switch when asked! im not sure if this is the case here?[/b]

Lost 2-0 to Holbeach last night but were as unfortunate to lose last night as we were to beat March 3-0 so in a sense a bit happier as I found out a lot about the squad.

Had slightly the better of the game and chances all the way through, but gave away 2 bad goals (the 2nd with the last kick of the game) which is a lesson it itself, whilst Tom Roberts was inspired in the Holbeach goal.

Holbeach look as if they will be half decent this season, had a harder edge than us and Nimmo and Childs (on loan from Stamford) who scored the goals showed their quality.

For PNS the 3 forwards (Gibbs, Favell & Phillips) all played very well and gave the Holbeach defence quite a few problems.

Lots of other decent performances as well as some not so good, with players getting 2 further chances to impress v Whittlesey in our "possibles" team on Thursday and the 1st team fixture v Bourne on Saturday before we start picking the team seriously v Blackstones next Tuesday

Andy
25-07-2007, 07:27
Saw the first half and Holbeach were fortunate not to concede. That said, the PNS assistant ref gave a few dodgy decisions and the pitch was a bl00dy disgrace. What you'll learn, Tommy, about players playing on a meadow i don't know.

PNS beat Bourne 2-1 which was a result that slightly flattered our visitors who arrived on the back of an impressive victory over Spalding in the week, but were very much 2nd best until the last 15 minutes when the PNS changes started to have a negative impact on the shape of the side.

We took the lead after just 5 minutes when Dave Kilby rounded the keeper and finished well and the rest of the half was all about good missed PNS chances.

Karl Gibbs fired in from close range 1 minute into the second half following good work from Phil Anderson, one of 8 2nd half substitutes, but the changes did not alter the shape of the game as PNS continued to dominate.

Bourne pulled a goal back with 10 minutes to go which sparked some panic in the PNS defence, but they held out to secure a comfortable win.

Onto Blackstones on Tuesday which will be a sterner test, with everything geared towards Rothwell Corinthians on August 18th who themselves enjoyed a 2-0 win against Perkins yesterday so must be half decent

JNE
31-07-2007, 12:04
Another Game for PNS tonite as we travel to Blackstones which could be our toughest test of all our pre season fixtures. Tommy has had the difficult job of whittling the squad down and he will take a first team squad tonite for the first time.

Whilst it is possible some more players maybe surplus to requirements, tonite will be the merry band of players first get together as the first teamers for PNS.

Tom will prob experiment again tonite as he gets an understanding as to where he sees people playing and looking at new formations but whatever he does it should be a good run out for us. Skegness on Sat and another chance for people to impress with the league getting ever nearer.

Enough of my blabbing on :blh: . I will post a match report tmrw - in my lunch hour!!

Tommy Trophy

Drew 2-2 with Blackstones this evening going 1-0 down after 12 minutes and equalizing through impressive 2nd half substitute Steve Phillips who added a second after Blackstones had retaken the lead from a corner in a game described by Blackstones boss Tony Lowther as a "proper game" which I wont argue with.

Fellow 2nd half substitutes Gary Roddis and Jason Doggett also played well in what was a much improved 2nd half showing after a frankly dissappointing 45.

Big S
01-08-2007, 09:04
Agree about the first half Tommy. Thought Blackstones were slightly lucky with there first goal as some uncharacteristic hesitation from the defence left Marcin at the strikers mercy. Great comeback against a side being tipped to do well this season in the UCL. Thought Ricky and Ashley stood out in the first half along with Steve P in the second. Roll on Skegness !!!!! I'll be thinking of you lot when I'm on my all dayer in Stamford !!!!

Lunch time!!

Not a bad result last nite after a very poor first half performance!
We were not good at all and we seemed to struggle in all areas of the pitch for some unexplainable reasons!!

Much better second half (although stones changed a few) and after a little Tommy rant at half time, in particular the communication seemed to be much better. Some players done there chances no harm at all whilst others will need to improve.

As said before though it is about getting it right for the first game of the season and we are aiming towards that. If we can eradicate the silly errors/goals (both last nite) then we will be in good nick for the coming season!!

Skegness away sat and another chance for people to put there claim forward for a place in the team!! Also a drink after so a team bonding session also!! :bub:

Good day out to Skeggy yesterday and a cracking night - unfortunately the team forgot that there was also a game to be played and turned in an abject display that resulted in a 2-1 defeat against a very strong Skegness Town side who won the Lincolnshire League last season and should have won by a wider margin.

Ashley Favell scored in the first half with a follow up to a Karl Gibbs shot, but the 1-0 half time score was an injustice to the the hard working home team and they duly scored 2 second half goals despite the heroics of Patryk Gawrysiak, the midfielder having to don the keepers gloves in the holidaying absence of Beeney & Lubniewski.

Apart from "Paddy" and Eddie Patten the rest of the team were dire and the good pre-season experienced by the side thus far was washed away in the space of 90 minutes - back to the drawing board!

Having said that the 2 hour coach journey and crash that we had with a dozey woman driver near Boston that had us all stood by the roadside for 20 minutes - finding the pitch covered in sand after the recent floods and a seaside wind that could not make up its mind which way to blow did not help - however we were not good!

it would seem that there must have been a goal keeper convention somewhere as many teams this weekend struggled to get a keeper, we spoke to 6 keepers to come and help us out against Deeping Rangers just to give 3rd choice psl keeper richie McGaffin a break, 3 games in 4 days for him. but have to say he did his claim for 1st choice no harm as he did well again between the stick for the 1st team for a 2nd time in 3 days.

Tommy - Get your facts straight before posting stuff about me and what I may or may not have done with the PNS website and domain name. By the way the name is Adrian not Mark! I registered and paid for the domain name and I set up the website, again paid for by me. No one at the club seemed interested in the site until your silly remarks appeared on this forum. In designing the new site for Alconbury it pointed to the PNS domain, something I was going to change once we had our domain registered and up and running. I would have passed this to the club if you wanted but now feel a little ****ed. As you seem to have loads of dosh floating around perhaps you would now like to pay for it!!!
Always willing to talk.
