A couple of tasty fixtures still to play.

Royal Mail v Fitzjohn Ingle as the title decider in Div 3
EMAP v Lord Burghley in the PFA cup final at Focus

Any thoughts and/or predictions??
I'll go for a 3-2 win for the Fitzjohn boys and have to side with EMAP to win 3-1 in the cup final.

Very good but unfortunately I did that last sunday and it was fence posts, thanks to Farcet got them done nice and early which enabled me and my mate to have a liyttle pub crawl last sunday, can't use that as an excuse this Sunday. :soo:

Went to watch Royal Mail vs Fitzjohn Ingle, 5 - 0 to Mail, very , very one-sided. Hempson 2, Locke 2 and an own goal that Hempson will try and claim.Mail could have had at least a couple more, my old mate Chris missed a couple of chances. Mail played some very nice football, Hemps linked very well with Crotty and Locke. To be honest Fitzjohn on this day were not in the same class. The Mail keeper was never really troubled. Best of luck to Hemps and his lads for the league.

We lost 2-0 to a decent Lord Burghley side, they out played us to be fair and deserved the win... 0-0 at HT but we rarely troubled their keeper - they're a good set of lads for the most part but some of their travelling support really were 1st class idiots - swearing/shouting and drinking all game from 10am within earshot of many families - One genius when confronted (not by me) and asked to stop swearing replied "well my effin kids are here"... he was asked to leave and promptly calmed down and was not heard from again...
Congrats to the Burghley lads - I hope they win their league.

I always believed that consumption of alcohol at Chesnut Avenue was not allowed. I have even seen carrier bags full of booze confiscated at cup finals. I have even heard of teams threatened with disqualification because of fans being drunk and drinking at Chesnut Avenue. I do not blame the teams themselves but proper supporters wouldn't put their team in jeopardy. We have even had it at Scarletts and it is not something to be proud of.

Yeah it can be a problem but to be fair, on the day there wasn't obvious alcohol consumption - but it must have happened because a few of their supporters were well out of order, at HT I think a few officials had words and it did calm them a little ...
But at 10am in the morning I doubt the residents nearby were too chuffed at a rabble from Stamford blowing air horns and swearing repeatedly at the top of their voices
One of em did make me laugh though when he started mouthing off to our centre back (Hamad) saying he'd knock him out etc, those that know Hamad will appreciate how comical that was - he's a boxer and not a bad one at that!

Bring on Fitzjohn this Weds, league game.

It was a concern on Sunday at some stage. The referee reported the behaviour of one individual to myself at half-time. As it is the responsibility of each club to deal with their spectators Lord Burghley were asked politely to deal with the individual concern. This they did and I thank for acting correct. I personally then had the honour of having to spend the whole of the second half in this individuals company. Apart from blowing his air horn at me once he found out I was an official of the PFA, (his protest I think) he was fairly well behaved. The scoreline had a lot to do with that.

I believe there was some alcohol consumed and whilst I am not condoning as it should not happen. I believe however that in the circumstances it would have been highly inappropriate to have used heavy handed tactics to tackle this problem at the time. In my time attending these finals it always seems to be Sunday morning matches that throw up the problem of alcohol. There is to be a reminder placed in all of the remaining programmes that alcohol can not be consumed on the ground and any offenders risk being asked to leave. I would therefore ask all clubs still to play in the various competition to convey this information to their supporters. After all there is planty of time for celebrations after the games.

I think it was dealt with very well but as you say the scoreline helped the cause, If we'd have scored 1st I would think your job may well have got a lot more difficult!!!
Also you mention Sunday football having more of a problem with Alcohol?? I dont believe that for 1 moment, take the recent PSL v Moulton game, more beer consumed at that one than the beer fest

Thanks again to all at the PFA and the Burghley team, both behaved in a sproting manner and should be applauded.. the Stamford fans -errrrr nevermind

Shaun

Based on previous problems we have encountered Sunday mornings are often harder to handle. The issue with PSL etc should be addressed by the club itself. Anyway well done at the weekend as you say the game itself was played in a fantastic spirit. They way it should be played

PSL etc are decent enough lads, I was just saying the amounts of Alcohol I've seen drunk on a Sat afternoon watching games far excedes the amounts I've ever seen on a Sunday morning....

Shame you didn't win mate, but never mind. Hopefully make it 3rd time lucky having been defeated in 2 cup finals in 2 years.
It's 'cos i didn't play! HAHA only joking
Sorry i couldn't make it down to support you and the lads. I'm sure you had a drink afterwards regardless!

plenty of supporters from both teams drink during match's at most PSL home games, the reason for this is because our club house is next to our pitch, but i assure all that no one drinks beside the pitch as someone is always standing on the gate which leads to our pitch to stop this happening. on occasion a few do get passed by hiding drinking under their coats ect and if they get pointed out we politly ask them to go behind the fence to drink.

Fair enough Al, but we are all supposed to be adults here and sneaking through the barrier is both unfair to club officials and childish. It concerns me that some people only seem happy or infact capable of watching football with alcohol inside them. Don't get me wrong I like a beer or seven but I also prefer to watch football with a clear head

Cheers Foxy, we're thinking of chaning the team name to Runners Up FC   and yeah of course we all piled into town to drown our sorrows - maybe we can tempt you back for the new season and actually win a final this time???

Regards drinking at PSL - come on Carefree, I was at your home game against Fletton and within plain sight of anyone who actually cared to look were many many PSL supporters with bottles of bud etc in hand, being extra vocal on the sidelines whenever there was a tough tackle etc...
It didn't bother me too much as I knew a few of em and had a good laugh with JNE lads but to say people 'sneak them in under jackets' is a bit much, When I stood near the gate one lad bundled past me taking a gulp from one bottle and holding another in the other hand
Fair enough the PSL boys played some cracking footy and deserved the win plus the league by the way it's looking but the point a few would make is that bringing your team as the away side into that atmosphere can be very unsettling to younger players perhaps??
Just my point of view and I give full credit to Tommy and all concerned at PSL for a cracking season - winning the Northants cup must have been fantastic for all the lads!!!

we just do our best to stop drinking on the sidelines, sometimes people do slip past with drink under jackets or sometimes in their hands, but maybe on the day you refer to, brain(gateman) could have been fetching a ball from the carpark which he does or something else while this person sneaked thro with a couple of bottles.

fair play lads, I know it must be a nightmare to try and control but I stood by the gate for a good 30 mins or so and the beer traffic was constant, it wasn't a problem to be fair and most were simply enjoying themselves but your 'gate keeper' must have been having an 'off day' perhaps
It was a good game to watch by the way and your lot deserved the win I thought....

by the way if any Saturday teams fancy arranging any pre-season friendlies we'd be up for it -
can't hurt to hammer a sunday side prior to next season can it :soo:
