great win for the fitzsjohn lads againt royal mail in the mcCains cup! Was a brilliant match, we should have killed the game before half time but mail came out 2nd half and looked to have taken the match to extra time before matey decided to play goalkeeper and save Eggs shot
great battle and the fitzsjohn lads came out on top :gun:
to the final we go (without ginger balls hopefully)
Fair to say we had a few beers on super sunday
party time :pty:
Surely your not suggesting that you would rather me stop at home.
You need me on ya case. If someone don't keep you in check you'll dribble the ball off down Station Rd before you look up. *bkk*
I must say that Div 3 are flying the flags in all the local cups. The division has been well contested, but any real chance of EMAP overhauling the top 2 went with their draw against Werrington yesterday. I think Fitzjohn have built up a head of steam and could see their title challenge through to the end with the posties finishing runners up.
Div 3 should be proud of producing 3 out of 4 finalists in the local cups, ie EMAP, Brotherhoods and Fitzjohn. And if all the trophies end up in that division they should give themselves a big pat on the back. I reckon Brotherhoods have given EMAP a bit of hope of overturning a very good Lord Burghley team with their result yesterday.
i think that it shows that the "lesser" teams have the more dedicated and committed set of players which really does put the big clubs/players to shame.
I know for a fact that the EMAP team have near enough the same squad from last season and probably explains why they are on for their second successive promotion and cup final appearance. There is a lot to be said for commitment/loyalty and if I was ever a manager this would appear very high on my agenda for running a successful amateur club, as more often than not it allows you to be confident of seeing the same 14 players each week allowing the manager to concentrate on other issues.

poor hempo when will he learn to take defeat, it was a great game and the loser was always going to be gutted but the manner hemps acted after the game was unreal. after the game he struggled to shake hands were as many of the other players wished us luck. then he continued it in the pub, after inviting us for a drink complaining that we was eating there food as they recieved none at our place. we dont actually play from any pub so unless he rolls up at mine so i can dop him a sunday roast i carnt help him out on that one. we are whittlesey lads who use a picth in peterborough. so for opersition to travel back to whittlesey would be stupid. think that after all his time playing he would understand to be a bit gracious in defeat or his it just the whole embarassment thing of early season predictions be an in tresting game in a fortnight.

 i predict a good match when we meet Royal Mail in the league! the semi final was a cracker, did happen to notice matey was a bit upset at loosing :bby:, such as football, only one team can usually win, the run in is going to be very close, were playing really well of late(even this ginger player does one-twos of the corner flag) and most importantly the lads are really enjoying the footy at the minute! im gutted to be missing the end of season run in but im hoping the lads will finish the league top of the pile having beaten brotherhood in the final!
Come on the fitzsjohn!!!!!! :gun: on for the double!
oh and ginger balls, dont get chatty after one average performance, head down and run myabe, but 8 in 3 speaks for itself! :mnn:
Its a shame that the defeat was not taken too well. By all accounts it was a cracking game, but saying that it is gutting to lose a semi-final, especially in the last minute. Was it a contentious penalty that won the game?

no it wasnt a difficult one the ball had gone past the keeper and bloke on line saved it, i no that losing is disapionting but thats football. im not one for whining but if you was being really twisted you could argue that the bloke on the line should of walked if we had missed the pen extra time an all that 10 against 11 would of matterd.but i dont wish to see anyone pick up costs ive always played the game in good spirit and whan we meet in a fortnight will do again if we lose they win the league fair play to them shake hands and all the best. end of the day its only football.
The final will be an interesting affair. Brotherhoods recent revival could make for a good tussle. Anyone fancy predicting how the games will go?

Blue Boys... you've got to play our lads before replaying Hempo's crowd and we're looking to reverse the 2-1 home win you snatched from us (that was a clear foul on me for the winning goal!) so the league run in may not just be decided in your replay with the Posties!!
That's not to mention the Sawtry boys who play both you lot and are in cracking form, could be an upset or 2 there?
Anyone from Brotherhoods read this lot?? got any tips on how to beat the Burghley lads

ha ha i love the banter on here!! gotta say i weren't at all pleased with the bloke that handballed it on the line because it was gunna be my goal!!
shame it looks like gilbert can't play the final although he's been stealing all the glory the last couple of weeks! he keps bangin on about 8 goals in 3 games but ask him how many times he passed the ball to a yellow shirt?! ha ha. like ginger pubes said if it was left to kev he'd be dribbling the ball 2 pitches away tryin to take it round a bloke out walking his dog!
8 in 3, i must have put 6 of em on a plate for him and then royal mails centre half decided to pretend to be goalkeeper when i was gunna score!
Fitzjohn 4 europe!!

carnt believe they now play the final on a sunday used to be friday night, will be a testing game and on the day anything can happen.still think we will pip it will be a great shame if kev carnt play still be welcoming a striker back soon from a 5 week ban.b o t n i no we still have some tough games but if u look at league if we was to beat posties then we could afford to lose a game or draw a game. bit of a cussion, anyway thought we were playing you this week but you have given it a miss or called it off, we now have angel a positive result then 4 games left should b posties the week after then the cup so dont no when we play you hopefully last game. werent a fail was a great leap thats what im sticking to anyway.

 Eggbert, records speak for themself mate! my goal scoring record dont lie! although i must agree the man with the dog would still probably tackle me
on a serious note, gutted to be missing the final which looks likely(not given up hope though) and the next match against the posties!
with or without gilbert i predict the fitzsjohn boys to have another super sunday cup final day  what you think egg?

blueboys.. we called our fixture off this cominf Sunday months ago, 7 of our boys are off to Amsterdam, I don't think they'll be in any state to be playing football some how
Good luck in the final and I'm glad we have an exciting finish in the league ahead - see you in 2 weeks
Sounds like a cracking league and plenty of banter!!
My Tip for title is Mail (Just) with Fitzjohn second and Emap third. I know a few mail boys and they are really hurt by defeat at the weekend and will be gunning for revenge against fitzjohn next time!! Fitz are a good side made up by coates players mainly who I have to say have not impressed me so far this season when I've seen them!! Kev a good player but playing below himself and likes the limelight - Playing against better players I would like to see him!! (Yoda speak) and believe he missing towards the end of the season?
Emap got great spirit and I've chatted to BOTN and had a good laugh with him, think there aim is to win the cup and have a great chance!!
Good luck to all and is only my opinion but cracking end in sight!!
I too would like to see Kev play against better players. Do you know any Foggy :soo: To be fair to Kev he really really enjoys his football but he aint no Billy Big Biscuits, yet. I'm sure the Whittlesey lads deserve a mention as being part of the Fitz team. The squad pretty much consists of 4 Prem players, 1 Div 1, 5 Div 2, 2 Comb 3 and 3 who are too old to get a game anywhere else  no offence. Not sure about Tilly. So not really a bunch of 'superstars'. It's a good team who enjoy a laugh together on a Sunday morning and would probably be better if a few more could get out of bed. Kev out Shep in, different but effective.
In my opinion, for what its worth is that Fitzjohn will win the league, Royal Mail will stay second on goal difference (two tough Sawtry games coming up as well as FitzJohn). I also think Fitzjohn will sneak Brotherhoods by the odd goal in the McCains final, but I would not be too surprised if it swung the other way following their result against Lord Burghley.
I think Emap will win the PFA, as JNE mentioned, they have a great spirit and which could prove too much for the Burghley boys.
A clean sweep for Division 3 I think!
CAFC - never mentioned anything about superstars so you must have a complex?
Just an opinion and I know Kev is a good player and enjoying his footy but if Coates do go up this year (hope they do) then he should play with them, if not then he should look to ply his trade for whittlesea in the prem!!??
What about it kev? :soo:
As for Div 3, good division but to many trophy hunters me thinks, interesting when you all go into div one next year!!

foggy thats not very nice,i joined fitzjohn back end of last season when my younger brother said they could get a team out. we played the last six games with the bear minimum, i wasnt going to play this year but was asked to help out the player i was helping played for the original rec side and has played sunday footy for about 15 years and this will be his first trophey. start of the season we had 14 players 3 of which only play sundays and the rest from coates. then added a couple more we have got by this season on a squad of 17 and have picked up momentum as the season has gone on. on paper the royal mail side and emap side have players playing at a higher level and the sawtry side play at coates level. we are a similar side to what u mentioned early when we was talking about your cup game of mates playing together, with kev being away we may only be able to get 13 players for the final thats what a small squad we have had this year.
I would not put EMAP in the category of trophy hunters. I can't think of any EMAP players who play in the Prem or Div 1 of a Saturday, or have played at the highest level on a Sunday in recent years. I do know their left back plays Div 1 in the combination, but thats it.

Blue Boys... hello mate, certainly the Royal Mail lads may have a fair few boys who have played at a higher level and maybe some still do, but of our squad we have just 1 playing regular Saturday football out in the sticks and 1 playing Oundle Res... we have 2 or 3 ageing lads (myself included) who a good few years back played the odd game in and around the Sat Prem but were by no means 'well known' - the rest simply play a lot of 5 and 7 a-side and all good mates wanting Sunday football as much for the social side as the footballing side and we've formed the current Emap side to fit that profile.
All good banter though and as we've already said a cracking end of season in sight.. I'd say perhaps you boys and the Posties may go up a league or 2, we're hoping to maybe climb 1 division as we did last year and make steady progress. Going to watch Posh saturday if anyone's about for a

certainly dont think i like the limelight, or im a billy whatever you said  cause by no means do i stand out in divison 2, im another coates player who loves a kick and a  with the lads after, coates lads are a great bunch with some decent young players, in terms of me playing higher or against better players, coates are going to be just one divison below w'sey next year(HOPEFULLY) and i dont see playing a league higher compensating for the laugh and enjoyment of palying with CAFC boys! even though on a weeknd back ill be with the reserves :dcr:
however thats saturday talk!
back to sundays..... the fitzsjohn lads have got a decent young team togehter, made up of coates whittlesy and some others! we turn up steamin, apart from me :whs: and have a laugh.we have played our last 4 matches(including mail twice) without shep who has bagged over 25 goals i do believe, so i drop form my centre foward role :sosad: and shep stands back in for the run in, i fancy mail and fitzshjohn to take the top two spots and emap to finish a decent 3rd, i hope the lads grab the league and definalty the cup so i can come home to a :pty: and a nother super sunday! :alc:
