Went to see the above Hunts Senior Cup Semi yesterday and witnessed a fine game with chances galore at both ends.

Matt Leftley scored an absolute beauty from a knock down from Glen Bolden in the first half. In fairness this was a little harsh on Woodlands who deserved their win overall, but the manner of it will be a sickner for Spec and his team.

Equaliser came with about 5 minutes left with a simple tap in from Chris Hutchcraft after a bit of a mix up in the Fletton rearguard where keeper Simon Patterson had performed heroics all afternoon.

Winner came deep into stoppage time from a Glen Gilbert back header from a free kick and Fletton barely had time to kick off before the referee, who showed admirable little man qualities throughout, blew his whistle.

You could tell when the equaliser went in that some of the Fletton boys knew the game was up, and it was hard not to feel sorry for a number of their players for whom this represented a chance for a great swansong to their careers - including the manager.

As for Woodlands, they have made a mightily impressive impact in their first season in the premier and once they get over their naivity will be a serious title contender next year - in the meantime they should have nothing to fear from St.Ives who I think are a distinctly average UCL side.

On the title, seems like Moulton are getting very close, though they still have a number of tricky fixtures to overcome. You would have to be very hard nosed not to feel pleased for them if they do, after so many near misses and for good old Gav & Phil they could be picking up their 3rd winners medals in 4 years! PSL are certainly not done with yet though and still have a number of chances to have a glorious season themselves.
