View Full Version : WHATS GOIN ON COATES?

Just seen the result from coates game today and seen that they lost 2-0!!
Also found out that Mr Gilbert will not be there for the run in at end of the season due to his army commitments!
Wonder if this means another season in div2 for them. What do you all think?
Hope not cause think they have a team to good for that div but as they say FOOTBALL IS A FUNNY OLD GAME!!
Resut was no real surpise
Guyhirn have been in top form and Coates have hardly played
And really it is only their own players who have been blwing their trumpets on this site
Empty vessels make the most noises and all that
Now it is whether Coates make promotion let alone the title. They have a tough run in
Coates are a very good team when they play as a team. Yesterday NOBODY put the effort in or showed any commitment. It happens. It happened last season in a couple of games. I hope we don't have any more blips. If Kev plays like he did yesterday it aint no loss  but I can't believe he can play that bad again. An average performance from an under performing football team. All change for next week.
All i've ever wanted is to get out of this division and we still can.

You are gonna need to improve before next weeks Semi, as we are on a high after winning our Northants semi yesterday and looking to make make it to the PFA Final as well. Go Jube :gun:
Yes it's going to be real tough to get the lads going after a very dissapointing day. If we were showing a bit of form I would fancy us to give you a game. Promotion is the priority for a fact but there's no point in coming this far in the PFA cup (again) not to give it a good go.

i no as a team we were awful yesterday andhalf the team didn't even turn up but u sayin 'NOBODY put the effort in or showed any commitment' offends me! i give 110% yesterday its a shame some of the other lads didnt follow suit!

im sure u did egg as u did this morning, great result for us this morning. im sure the jubilee boys will be having a think about todays game to prepare for nxt week. as for carrots been a while since u have been on empty vesels and loud noises mate you would no about that wouldnt you
EGG, deffinitely not the place to be seriously discussing personal performances. I could pick as many holes as you like in everyones performance. I repeat that EVERYONE was average or below yesterday. ALL are capable of playing much better and will have to Saturday if they don't want to get a 'six pack of wup ass'.
Much to discuss between now and three on Sat. You just make sure that you all have a good hard think about what was wrong yesterday and you can start with passing the ball to a team mate and maybe we can progress to shooting by Thursday.
I take it you had a good result today.

well well eggy do i sense some dressing room unrest!! Are you saying that some of the players dont give there all :str: Well i think you should name and shame and CAFC dissapointed that you are making excuses saying that the whole team played badly. Maybe Guyhuirn deserve some credit that they played well and made your boys look average :scr:

lets be honest mr harley, why is it such a big thing to you about coates, if u are still playing then you wont off seen them play if your not i no that u havent watched them, there side is built on under 20 year olds who are still learning. most would go past you at half pace :nwy:

Not such a big thing to me just no loads of the lads an love a bit of banter  Nice to see you rose to the occasion and gave me what looks like a nibble blue  1-0 TO JOCK :pty:
I have no excuses Shaun. The REaSON for us losing is that we as a team did not perform as a team, from start to finish. :soo: Guyhirn are a good team but on our day we are better. More to the point I think the lads know it. Still much to play for, I can see Sawtry (wished we had played them earlier in the season) and Manea (who always beat us) having the big say in who finishes where. :blh:
I think we will also finish better than the 4th place that I predicted at the start of the season.
What's going on Coates ! Not a lot Shaun, FIRST game we have lost this season, not bad, not bad at all.
Whats all the fuss about?? So you lost one game all season!! Thats not bad for a start! You have 5 games in hand on guyhirn, win them and it takes you within one point of them, and looking at your next few fixtures they got the harder games and could drop points. 2nd place is good enough to go up ( i na you boys want to go up as champions )!!
Your semi final this week, good luck to both teams..

HA HA! i love the banter on here
in reply to CAFC... kev won't be have anymore no show performances shall we say before i go away and leave you lads for the end of season run in!
Yeah saturday was by a mile the worst we have played since i joined coates three seasons ago! very very dissapointed to say the least, take nothing away from guyhirn they played well and got us on a very bad day!! however on the up side its our first defeat in a long time and its no good on keep looking back, its gone, we now pick ourselves up and play better (MILLION MILES BETTER) against the inform jubilee lads.
League promotion is very much priority but putting yourself up against better opposition is always good!
Im yet to look at saturdays other results and the up to date league table but im sure if we concentrate on picking up maximum points form our remaining matches we will gain promotion regardles of other teams, manea and sawtry will play a big part is who goes up! :blh:
Bring on the run-in and the semi final :gun:

Egg u ledge mate!!! Just like me love the banter and very rarley rise to the bait!! Shame that the same cant be said about CAFC who seems to take the bait all the time!! Maybe you should teach him!! Good luck on Sat mate.
Shaun if nobody responded to your quips it would be a pretty dull place. A lot like Scotland. :stpd:

Great result for the Jube yesterday and fully deserved as we totally domanated from start to finish and everyone gave everything and it was a great performance espically by Bannie & Wilder. The only thing which we didnt do and that we have struggled to do all year is finish teams off and we need to put to start putting more of our chances away, but we have 2 finals to look forward to now and we havent given up on the league so another big push from know to the end of the season and who knows what could happen. Go Jube :gun:

Well done mate, all the best for both finals!!
Saturday's result was helped by the fact that Guyhirn dropped points at Warboys, so it's back in our hands!
Although, i am pretty sure there will be more twists yet and think Sawtry are going to play a very big part in where the title ends up!
We've got one final also so....
Go Coates :gun: haha
All the best mate

All the best to you and your lads to in your final and the league, I think it will be a big loss when you lose Kevin Gilbert as even though we kept him quiet on Sat he looked a great player and you seem to look to get the ball to him all the time. But im sure you will hold on in there and get promoted, Good Luck. We are all looking forward to the finals but we still have 13 important league games as well, so still alot to do. Go Jube :gun:

We was out classed saturday, jube are strong all over the pitch, we were dissapointed not to make more of a game of it, but as Big Dave said the guyhirn result made the day a little bit better! jube had control of the match from the kick off but at 1-0 your never out of it, the second goal killed us! after seeing jubille i can see what the talk is about and sure they will end the season with some trophy's!
i was thankful some of the jubille lads let me out there pocket so i could play sunday
We still have a cup final to win and promotion(hopefully as champs)
Come on Lads, :gun: i need to come back to a trophy
decent bunch of lads and good luck for the final and your end of season run-in!
Does seem Coates may be falling apart nad very quiet on here this week
The question is will they win anything this season after cup final defeat by Doddington and need to be unbeaten in last five games in the league for title
Still if they do get promotion then I suppose they can be satisfied with that

I wondered how long it would take and who it would be to bring this up!!
Noone has been on here because as Manea and ourselves are about the only teams left to play any games it would be a pretty dull read if it was just the Coates lads having some banter wouldn't it?!!
As for us falling apart etc etc...........Yes we were disappointed to lose the final but there were a lot of teams that didn't get there mate, so we're happy!
At the start of the season our aim was to get promotion to Div 1, this is still very much possible. As for the title...we are not even thinking about that as we have got 5 tough games and we can only afford to draw one, so this looks a very tough ask!
We have lost 3 games all Season - one cup semi final to a very good Jubilee side, one final, and once to Guyhirn who currently top the table.......Not bad if you ask me!!
I'm guessing your season has ended Carrots which is why you are interested in us!! Oh well chin up!
Dave- i can't see why you won't get promoted mate, looking at the pdfl site you have got some tough fixtures coming up, but i cant see that causing you too much of a problem.
coates v benwick - very comfortable win
Manea v coates - coates win
coates v sawtry - you should just edge a win here
coates v doddington - how the hell they beat you in the final i will never no, they just a bunch of dirty so n so's ( sorry make that one player in particular!! ) oh yea coates win
coates v manea - coates win
All in all you lads have had a good season, one cup semi final / one final and pushing for promotion i'd be happy with that.
Good luck in you last few games. We got manea this saturday ( farcet win 3-0 )
Bratts
Bratts,
If we are going to talk the talk then we have to :blh:
So if we put ourselves up there , there is always people gonna knock you down.
I have to be pleased with only 3 losses, so far. But how pi**ed am I that for the second season running that we aint got anything to show for it. Not because we are owed anything just that we seem to fail at the big games. i.e. Doddington and Guyhirn. Guyhirn have snatched some real close games this season, they have conceded a lot of goals, but always seem to get the results. Thats what counts.
As for the final, should have been over by half time, even though we lost our leading goal scorer after 15 mins :scr: it was as one sided a game of football as you will see. But did they come out on a mission in the second half. We failed to compete when we needed to and they did a real good job of stopping us from playing football. A real game of 2 halves.
Three more big games and we are out of Div 2. As I said at the start of the season, a real tough division to get out of so we have to make sure we take our chance.
Mate, i know what you are saying as at the start of this season i was saying that we should do this and we should do that and we havent done nothing this season.
The arrival of seb hayes and the lads he has brought to the club have given us a new lease of life, we have won our last 4 games in a row and will be looking to make it 5 with our final game of the season this saturday v manea. If only we played the football we are playing now at the start of the season, we would have been there or there abouts.
The good thing is we have a good foundation to build on for next season and thats what we are looking forward to.

Looking at table, 2 points are needed from our remaining fixtures to secure promotion to Div 1, which was our season's aim.
As Gary said we didn't perform second half against Doddington but to be fair to them they came out for the second with a game plan and they carried it out.
Another below par performance again on Sat but at this stage a win's a win and now we have got to travel to Manea on Wed and beat our 'bogey' team!!
Then we can approach the 3 remaining games with a little less pressure and get back to enjoying our football which will hopefully coincide with a return to form and 3 more wins!!
But hey it's a funny old game!
Morning dave, like you say a wins a win n if you want out of this division mate the score line dont matter as long as you take the 3 points.
We had a good game against manea on saturday and we should have had the game dead n buried by half time, but missed chances meant we had to settle for the draw.
I will go for a win for you boys on wednesday, but i think it will be a close game. Good Luck mate
Bratts
Well I make that promotion to Div 1 after our one nil win at Manea last night. :pty2:
That's the 2 promotion places wrapped up with 3 games left. I thoufht at the start of the season it would have gone a lot closer than that but it'll do for me. :dsc:
CAFC - Pass this on to your lads for me. WELL DONE LADS!!!
Liam text me last night to say you beat manea and that u got promotion
Congrats mate on getting promoted, shame tho cos it means we wont get to battle against you lot next season - unless its in a cup.

Cheers Bratts mate!
Been a tough season - but promotion makes a good one!
Now got to push hard for 3 more games!!!
THEN WE CAN :pty2: :dsc: :pty:
Well done to all at Coates. In my opinion the two teams that are going up deserve to go up. I also think that of the two, Coates are better prepared for life in a higher league. That's because of a half decent res team and Guyhirn may get punished defensively by better strikers. However I expect both teams to do fairly well next season.
Teilo,
The ressies this season have come on really well. Two of the regular reserve players have had to come up to this first team for the last 3 games and have been excellent, displacing regular first teamers in the process.
We have had the usual trials and tribulations with 'firsts' and 'reserves' but the club has benefitted this season and if we manage to keep everyone at the club and maybe grab a couple of new signings then I think the ressies will have a really good season next year due to the overall strength at the club.
