so what was underhand in our game v fletton then spec?

all your strikers were in the club after drinking with us, i didnt see anyone covered in blood or with a bit of ear missing? (ET miss quote maybe???)

i got told in the club house (by your own players) you had a few plans yourself, like getting matt to wind ben up to get him sent off? any truth in that? not that im bothered by it.

i thought they both should have seen red, matt for diving and holding his face trying to con the ref to get ben sent off and ben for reacting to it. i ve seen them 2 at it before, a bit of a grudge thing between them i think.

there was nothing underhand in how tommy, pat or myself instructed our team to play football.

I didn't mention underhand anywhere or at anytime Al and neither did I use the word tactics, I was simply questioning the reasons why your management team continually put up with allowing a certain player to get away with what he did on Saturday and even at one stage encourage it to continue. I've seen it happen on other Saturdays and I've seen it happen on Sundays and because it had nothing to do with me then I didn't offer an opinion, it was my players on Saturday and after seeing what went on on the way to the changing room at half time I felt as though I had a right to protect them.
I went to see the ref at half time and asked his opinion on what had gone on and I'm sure you realise after your altercation with him before the game what a waste of time that was, his reply was "I have to see it to do something but he is getting on my nerves". I then told my player not to get involved and let the ref deal with it, end of story.
I don't offer an opinion as to who should or who shouldn't get sent off I just encourage my players to play football or go somewhere else, I've always been the same and I will never change which is why in this day and age football as it's fast becoming is not going to be for me.
You probably deserved the win because of the way we sat back and let you come at us and you did it well but that won't be the way I will remember what should have been a good game and that's the worst thing about it

Watched the game and I thought PSL deserved the points,Brett Bellamy made the difference when he came on and the injury to Glen Bolden meant lacked pace up front. As to the referee he should have given a penalty to both sides and as he stopped the game because he saw Ben push Matt to the floor off the ball he should have sent him off, if he didn't see why stop the game. The incident in the second half Matt should have been booked for the tackle on Brett, Ben sent off for his reaction no question. That said I thought it was a good game and PSL answered a lot of questions coming back from a goal down. Nice to see Ben & Matt laughing about it all in the bar afterwards, both managers should be proud of their teams as it was a good advert for local football one of the best games I've seen this season.

agree underhand wasn't quoted in the paper but tactics was.

thanks for that wils, i also thought it was a good game of football.

ben and matt were as bad as each other. yes ben should have been sent off if the ref had seen what happened (which im sure he did). did you see what matt did to upset ben? and then made an attempt to get him sent off by throwing himself to the ground, when it was clear the ref was not going to send ben off matt got up smiling! tactics maybe? if not by spec (which i doubt) then it was by matt. maybe if you had seen this you would also agree that he also should have walked.

im also doing the same as you spec, protecting my players. didn't see what happened at half time or hear about it from anyone either.

but i did see ben and matt laughing together in the club house. (thats if matt is the striker in question?)

this is a judgement only on the game and players, i hope that its not a reflection on our friendship spec? as for me that won't change over a game of football? hope you feel the same way.

My friendship with you will never change over a football match, that was never in question, I offered my opinion on what I saw and you did the same and I appreciate your reply to my last post.
It's actually nice for once to be able to discuss something controversial in a proper way on this site without some third party coming in on it and stirring all the s*** up.
Hopefully see you later albeit at something we would both be rather not attending

Hopefully you'll be allowed out longer next time Al, although if you get in the same state as Uncle Remus did last night an hour of your company will do
A good constructive chat and a new kit to boot!! shame about the circumstances though
