Spoken to the council this morning - after the 'slagging' they got last time for cancelling all games, they have decided to leave it up to the referees on the day! :soo:
We are at Leverington who I believe are in charge of their own decisions and been out that way this morning and you wouldn't have thought that there had been any adverse conditions at all anyway, so I am hopeful we can play
Only problem with leaving it to the ref is that you still have to pay them if they call it off (i understand) which is absolutely scandalous!!
Should just call off and then leave it at that!! :soo:
Agree spec that weather elsewhere not that bad but private pitches are different. Everyone has to go to work on Monday morning and players safety is paramount. I broke my leg due to similar conditions yet our reserves got called off and rightly so but Mr Judge got slated for it!!
Another weekend off not gonna harm anyone!!
Yeh just make a decision and call em off early doors.Gettin all the players there comitted to playing and then tell em to go home again.Waste of time.Even worse on a Sunday morning when that happens!!
I know weather forcasts aren't always right but a bit of common sense should surely be used.
Then at least we can just make the decision to get :bub: haha
Oh and Harbs. Any time you need diggin out of those holes you make Im sure we can borrow a digger from off the parkway....they are only going to waste seeing as no work is ever being done!!
Will do Nip, only thing is neither of us can use them as i dont have a driving license and incase you forgot you are banned!
i think it was how premature the council were last time in calling the games off. at the earliest it should be done on friday night and i think a sensible time would be about 10 sat morning. at least on sat morning you can usually make a pretty good judgment on whether the pitch will thaw after a few hours or dry up on a nice clear sunny day.
the council should also stop tarring all their pitches with the same brush. some pitches can be shocking after a bit of rain but some can be perfectly fine. 3 pitches at werrington(at the top where the oak used to play) are almost always in fantastic condition no matter how much it rains. individual decisions should be made at each venue.
