Its bad news for Sunday soccer that Glen Adams has quit reffing after the disgraceful behaviour of two peple on the Royal Oak bench last week. The decline of sunday soccer will fast track if anymore referees pack up and I do hope Glen has second thoughts.
And if he does take up the whistle again I do hope he sidesteps any local games involving Netherton as I think because people know he is big fan of the Posh boys that too many decisions are questioned. And in many cases he has got it right but players will still be believe he is favouring
Netherton.
You will be a huge loss Glen and do not let the actions of the minority spoil something you do enjoy doing.
Without wanting to cause uproar, what was it that the players did that was so bad?

wasnt the players at all . . even the oak players were disgraced at the teams behaviour .
yes it is true that glen best drinkin mate nev is our supporter etc but i dont think for one minute whoever refs a game thinks or sways for any side . refs make bad mistakes all the time , refs get it spot on , thats life get on with it, most the players do so why supporters feel the need to hurl abuse is beyond me .
soon there wont be any refs, netherton only have 2 refs all season , glen and reg , now its only reg .
so when reg has already got a game , who refs netherton ? cant be swanny as people will accuse us again . maybe people should play the game instead of the ref . does anyone know of a game where a ref has been so one sided?
i hope 2 glen takes bak the whissle . if not its a sad loss to the game

It is very sad and the last thing that the Sunday Morning League needs right now as it appears to be suffering a very public death.
The Royal Oak's time honoured way of dealing with these all to regular "incidents" is to close ranks, but to be honest it is quite impossible to defend the 2 guys involved from the Royal Oak on this one. In respect of the flare up, they were actually wrong in anycase. Darcy is new to management, and hopefully he will learn from the experience and behave appropriately on the line in future - I think an apology to Glen personally would be the least that the club should do.
The league also deserves some criticism over the Oak v Jubillee game, where a committee member has felt a need to get personally involved in things that don't concern him, as well as making a scandalous accusation against Tom Flynn that were subsequently rescinded - one way or another the train appears to be running out of control!

Ah, clears that up then, i took it as being players, as they were on the bench.

As a fellow referee i was saddened by the news that Glen had packed up but being a spectator at the game fully understand his decision.Nobody officiating a game deserves berrating and being abused.I hear things like, Glen likes Netherton better than anybody else.Glen is a referee and did his job with no favours to Netherton at all.....ever.Does that mean i like Jubilee more than anybody else.......Not on your life, i have no alligance to anybody. Some people are very narrow- minded to even suggest otherwise about officials. For Gods sake we are not going to get everything right just as footballers dont.So please just respect the referee cuz thats what players require from us.I dont want to see the PSMFL pack up but it will if some people dont get their act together.
Its also the case here in London, Sunday football is rapidly getting worse, referees dropping like flies, i have not refereed for well over a season now, purely because of the agro, seems most players have rather a large chip that resides somewhere in the shoulder area. Also having a spectator running onto the pitch to punch one of the players, i reported it to county, and nothing to this date has been done, so i felt it was time to stop. I have been out assessing failry often, and the standard of referees isnt too bad to be honest, just lacking in numbers. Im sure this may well be the case all over the country, and something needs to be done to stop the demise in sunday football, but we will need the help of all involved.

The Spalding Sunday Football League is on the decline too! There were 4-5 leagues last season, now theres only 2 and most of the teams struggle to get 11players for kick-off!
