View Full Version : Sawtry v Farcet (Disciplinary Appeals)
Interested to hear from any lads from Farcet reference the last game we played and the subsequent disciplinary matters.
Me and the other lad sent off for Sawtry both appealed (writing letters with big words in end everything) and have apparently received a further 3 weeks on top of our original week ban!!!
All this after the ref spouted off in the ET as well!
Is there no justice in football?
We too was appalled at what the Ref spouted off in the paper, but after discussing the matter with the player getting sent off ( me being the other one ) we didn't pursue it any further. Like yourself we got a fine and both recieved 7 days ban ( which was over the xmas period ) and left at at that.
We still put a letter into the Hunts Fa regarding the game and the ref, but just accepted the ban we got!!!

Moral of the story - be good little boys & you won't have a problem :soo:
If offered a 7 day ban for a sending off, always take it. Have seen too many times bans being increased on appeal.
Sports Sec If you'd have witnessed the game itself you wouldn't have believed it and I'm sure the Farcet lads will back me up. In all the years I've played I've never seen 4 sendings off and (I think) around 15 bookings in one game.
And it wasn't even a dirty game!
Just received my letter through from Hunts FA about my charge from the Farcet farce - 3 weeks and £30 fine for bringing the game into disrepute - what a joke. Seems my eloquent letter of appeal did no good whatsoever! There was someone that day who did bring the game into disrepute and it it certainly wasn't me!!!
I totally agree with you 2morrow, the game was not dirty at all, it was competitive but not dirty, have to be careful what you say about ref's so lets just say it wasn't one of his better days.
But as teilo said, you better off just accepting the 7 day ban and not appealling aginst it.
Cheers bratts. I originally got a 1 week suspension for the actual sending off (already served), the additional 3 weeks is for the disrepute charge I think we would have got the additional 3 weeks no matter what the FA have to be seen to back up the ref or they run the risk of losing them.
I know what you mean about being careful about what you say but I don't think we're being controversial just truthful.
By the way, best of luck to you working with Seb. I work with him for the county side and he's a good lad and a good coach, well not bad anyway!
Cheers 2morrow, i have had one of the lads that play for me help out, but he prefers just to play the game. Hopefully with seb here and the plans and enthusiasm we both have hopefully we can turn things around ready for next season.
Our aim for the rest of the season is to go unbeaten, we have the players to do it, we just need to get the performing. But we need to walk before we can run!
Well good luck mate, and try and take some points off our promotion rivals will you!
We will do our best mate, although saturday's game agianst March st Mary's going to be a tough one, if we were playing like we was this time last season i wouldnt be worried, but they are flying at the moment and we need to perform our we will be on the end of a hammering.

Lads in refrence to the sendings off, have to agree its best not to appeal as always ends up worse (in most cases), seems the lower league FA think that we have world class refs and they can do no wrong. :gun: Dont get me wrong there are some decent refs out there ( not found any yet) :str: Maybe it would be a good idea if like the refs have the league clubs (from prem to comb div 3) have a monthly meeting with some refs present to discuss some of the problems teams are having on this matter as after all no body likes to see any player sent off, never mind 4.

Morning Jock - congratulations on the nipper mate :bby:
made one or two appeals over the years - never won one yet, just occassionaly though its nice to be able to get a few things off your chest, and what better place than in front of the disciplinary committee which, if memory serves, used to resemble a mortuary waiting room!
F**k I am getting old mate , been running teams for the best part of 30 years but at least that gives me some experience on which to base my observations and I still subscribe to the view that give an official a modicum of common sense and you have a fighting chance of getting a good referee, and you are wrong Shaun there have been some, recent examples that spring to mind Mr Harrington, Mr Flynn and the gruesome twosome, Mr Sherwood and Mr Sutton for example, its when they have had the common sense bypass that problems occur, cos you cant just run a game via a rulebook - although I have to say the F.A. powers that be haven't helped the referees by their constant changes made to the rulebook.
And lest not forget us, players and club officials - God knows we are a difficult bunch at worst and not much better at best - we ultimately have to carry the responsibility for our behaviour, but I do miss the days when you could have a laugh and a joke with the ref - can't remember when that last happened -
Best of luck today my boy, big hugs to Kel and the bairns.....

Thanks for the congrats Great Unlce Mick :bby: , and calling me Jock now eh! could have done with some luck today as lost 2-1 to a very average stamford side after a very impressive 6 game unbeaten run( fletton 1of those scalps), speaks volumes when i tell you that some 1st teamers played today as there game was called off and we lost! Not blaming them but as you well aware does interupt the team a bit when this happens but hey that football for ya, :soo: Spoke to maby to and seems you boys didnt fair to well today either which was a massive surprise as did expect you to give them a bit of a hiding! Anyway you still in 1 cup so all the best for that and of course still to play us at home yet which comes with some serious bragging rights as i sorley found out already this season :hbgr:
Catch up soon and kelly and bairns send there love! :bby:
