I've just heard ALL council pitches (for Sunday games at least) have been cancelled this weekend -
Werrington's being cited as Water-Logged.
Anyone else heard any more on this?

I just got this from someone at the council - it was emailed around most (I think all) council football pitches this morning...
Why does it take so long to filter to the people it matters most too - us!

EMAIL from P'Boro Council (un-named source I hasten to add and I'll deny all knowledge of it and say i made it all up if anyone gets moody about it  )

Dear all … 12/1/2007…. My colleagues and I have carried out inspections of the council football pitches/sites and with regret we are advising that the recent / ongoing and persistent wet weather conditions have resulted in pitches becoming very wet … soft …muddy and in some cases with standing water.

Because of these adverse prevailing pitch conditions carrying out programmed pitch maintenance operations has been impossible, indeed even marking out has been and continues to be a real struggle. Unfortunately all these factors will have a major detrimental effect on the immediate quality of pitches ….. the standard of football that can be played….. the potential health and safety of participants and the long term implications of pitches ware and maintenance .

We have therefore with regret taken the decision to cancel all matches on council pitches for this weekend (13/ 14.. Jan, )…. Taking this action will rest pitches and hopefully with drying winds, lengthening days and possibly a little sunshine the pitches will very soon be ( in-all-reason ) in a suitable condition to allow appropriate maintenance operations to be undertaken and indeed be available for safe and proper use .

We hope this meets with your approval and that a full programme of fixtures can be resumed as soon as possible indeed preferably next weekend. We do apologize for any inconvenience but we do feel our actions will benefit all parties in the long run. …. Regards ..............

Game v Thrapston is on at present Mr Speechley. They are to confirm in the morning but all looks ok.Just wish i had a f*****ng team to go there.I cant stand players who let me down or leave for f**k all.Complete and utter wan***s.Makes me wonder whether its worth it.Makes me want to jack it all it really does.Top of the league, some of em couldnt give a toss.To say im not happy is an understatement. And for all you tossers who have let me down or left, i want to win it and f**k you right off.Losers.

Does anyone know if Leverington is considered a council pitch?

Sorry to hear the news Mr F. Are you able to disclose who has left and where they've gone? Can't understand their mentalities though, I know we amateurs play to enjoy the game but at the same time we want to win things, and although cups are great achievements the league always takes precedent in importance. Surely people should be fighting for their place in the starting 11, not fighting their way out the door :soo:

All the best in your game tomorrow, i hope you give 'em a spanking
