WHITTLESEY UNITED chalked up another three points with a convincing 6-0 victory over Parson Drove on Saturday at The Manor.

The home sides impressive form of late continued with a side hungry for another league scalp sweeping away the challenge of the visiting Parson Drove.

United started very well taking the game to Drove early on, Smith went close before getting his just rewards when he lofted the ball over the oncoming visiting keeper to open the deadlock. Midfielder Matty HERON then added a second half way through the fist half when a great ball into the box from the impressive Bob DART was latched onto by the energetic midfielder to make it 2-0. Whittlesey continued to control the game and their dominance was paying dividends with SMITH adding Whittlesey's third of the day moments before the half time whistle, smashing home after a mazy run in the box.

The home side were playing well but not to their full potential and were told in no uncertain terms at the break that they needed to kill the game off early into the second half and ensure that the visitors did not find a way back into the game. Whittlesey played some good passages of football throughout the second half, and striker Micky BURCH slotted home from close range after some persistent work in the box to make it 4-0. Young substitute Luke QUINCE came on as a sub early in the second half and his pace and constant hard work were rewarded when he smashed in an unstoppable twenty five yard volley from a close range to make it 5-0.

The dynamic Matther HERON later added a third when he ran through a depleted Parson Drove midfield to slot home from close range and finish off a very satisfying day's work for the home side making it 6-0.

Whittlesey look to be gaining momentum as the season continues, another excellent win was greeted with a degree of satisfaction from the boys who can now enjoy the christmas break before an important away match at Ramsey on 30th December, here's hoping for another three pointd

It's just a bloody shame it clashes with our annual event.

Hey Tom - nope, no call from the Sun - but did get a request from the Masochist Appreciation Society, seems they wanted to use the picture as a recruitment poster -( anyone who thinks that running a football team is all just a bit of fun take note!!!)

Have a great Christmas mate - and if our boys don't win it I can think of nobody I would rather see topping the league come the end of the season, even though Al got his Butts prediction wrong.

Catch up with you soon no doubt :snt:

I apologise Al, oops sorry Carefree that my little sidekick Barrel hasn't had the manners or the good grace to respond - probably overdosed on pizza
On the assumption that you believe that there were 1st team players drafted in - as manager of the reserves my primary role is to ensure that there are reserve team players available for the first team if required - However with my Blue Star roots very much in evidence, I ensure that the guys I have playing for me are as much a part of Whittlesey United as any 1st team player- to this end I wouldn't dream of dropping one of my guys just to accommodate a 1st team player because the 1sts didn't have a fixture -this excellent result was achieved with my "usual" reserve team players.

no need 4 comments like that chris :stpd:

its not always a case of dropping res players 4 1st team, but if needed that is wot the stiff's r 4. well done great result, wld say that if u did add 1st's 2 the team u may have lost

Spot on Al - methinks that its the crass attitude evident in Judgy's comment that helped to hasten the end of his mighty Ortonians - Point being that I dont give two flying fcuks what the rules say - my view is that the club has to be about each and every player and not just the "superstars" - the day that changes at Whittlesey will see me on the sidelines as Judgy now finds himself - though hopefully not quite as bitter

i noticed that u edited your comments chris, not like u 2 change your views????

we all know the rules about how many players we can now play in the stiff's thanks.

blueboy understands why i asked how many 1st played in this game, in case u didn't it was because of the win margin and done WITHOUT any 1st team players made this a fantastic result 4 them.

is that now ok with u?

Al the result or scoreline was no real great surprise. Parson Drove are struggling at present
But more importantly old Bluestar has some good young players in his squad. Young Matty Heron looks real prospect surprise he has not played more for the first team unless I saw him at his very best
Also good to see Tim Gale still doing his stuff. I heard March Town were chasing him even at his age

Wouldnt have to chase him too fast Judgy! - Joking aside Tim is still going strong, and I hope still enjoying his football, certainly still doing a job for the team.
Would like to think that there are several of the youngsters who will go onto better things, and yes Matty would be one of those.

Apologies for not responding sooner, i haven't had the time to access a computer over the last few days too busy eating as Bluestar says!

As Bluestar rightly states our team for the 6-0 win over Parson Drove was made entirely of the usual reserve team boys. Our picture in the ET last Monday would prove that.

We have a good young side with players who are developing by the game.

One year ago we were bottom of the league, with no win all season. Now we are doing well in the league and still in the latter stages of two Cup competitions. That is a credit to the lads themselve and especially Bluestar for keeping the faith and bringing in many excellent young prospects who have helped develop not only the team but the whole club.

Some of the football that the lads can serve up is a delight to watch and i think everyone at the football club is enjoying their stuff at the moment.

Lets hope 2007 brings much of the same.

Regards, Barrel

Mr Judge - having read your match report all I can say is that we certainly wont be calling you in to understudy Barrell - with your years of experience in the press thought you would come up with something other than a pale imitation of what my little mate produces each week- and to think you had a cheek to call his reports boring

And yes I have spoken to the committee and they would like you to join our club, its obvious from our results yesterday that we are in need of a new coach, and the same offer applies to the one we made to you previously - we have arranged for a dental appointment next Wednesday when all of your teeth will be removed, and seats put in - with a lick of paint you will then be able to take up your new role as Whittlesey United football coach! :snt:

Have a good New Year all  - and win or lose enjoy your footbal

And to my very good management team - Barrell and Cozza and to my young and not so young players (especially you Hof) - thanks for brightening up my Saturdays, and for making me realise how much I love the game - lets enjoy 2007 :pty:

Tommy - having played against you, been in a game or two where you have refereed ( very well if I remember!) I can think of no one else whithin the PDFL who deserves to be involved with running the leagues top side - and If we cannot win it ( still havent given it up yet!) I can think of nobody I would like to see win the league, or who deserves it more - I hope that 2007 does it for you mate.
