View Full Version : injuries
Afternoon all! I recenlty broke my left leg and dislocated my ankle in the 2004/05 Peterborough Prem season. After five days in Peterborough City Hospital, three ops and belly full of pills I'm back training. Despite the surgeon saying I won't play again I am trying harder than ever to get back to my old self. Is there anyone out there who wishes to tell their horror stories and how they coped?
I wish you all the best. We probably lost one of our best players due to him brekking his leg twice in two years. I havn't got any horror stories but don't try to get back too soon.

My worst horror story was having to share a car with Alan Wilson all the way to Dereham for the rep game this season.
Playing wise, once broke my right ankle after 20 minutes - played on and scored from 20 yards (with my left!) stayed on before coming off at half time and went to hospital next day. Also played 6 days after an operation on my left knee - they don't make them like me anymore.
(This is the best opportunity for comeback and abuse I think I have ever set up - don't waste it!)

Presumably it was the men in white coats who took you to the hospital the next day Tommy!
Tommy, Sharing a car journey that long with wils is a carrer threatening injury.. people with less ability than your goodself may not have ever recovered from that!!

Great first post Robbo - really interesting (it was Hanks who said wils?) - please do not contribute to this site again unless you are going to be either: -
a) Funny
b) Accurate
c) Interesting
d) Topical
e) Controversial
f) Thought provoking
See you this afternoon!!!!
(Need to find out how you play Texas Holding whatever it is called before tonight)
Sorry Robbo, i will see to it that i only call Alan by the more respectable title of Mr Wilson from now on.. Which is probably only fair as he is very old!

I broke my right fib on sat and after being taken to hospital and having a 10cm break confirmed i was admitted for an op to have the bone pinned and a plate inserted. The doctor expects me to make a full recovery although it will be a long and painful process before i am playing again!
I would like to say a big thank you to alan wilson and all alconbury officials who were extremely helpful to myself.
Also, all the players and management at Ortonians have been tremendous in there support for me and they have my full support and thanks as they try to win the league. Good Luck!!
