From Fenland Citizen 06/12/06

Griffin Park lost out in their top of the table clash with Deeping Sports...and are to make an official complaint about referee Norman Vasey's performance.....

''We should not have had a level six referee for a game like this. He just never had control of the game and gave them a penalty and there was not even a foul. Deeping were supposed to be a good footballing side but what they were good at was drama. They were diving all over the place. Four of our players got booked for making protests over decisions but not one of their players got booked yet Ton Chilton's legs were black and blue'.

Possibly the most interesting article from this weeks paper.

We were scheduled to have Mr Vasey as our ref I think up until last minute (Gedney Hill v Ketton) the Deeping game was maybe seen as more of a priority, Im guessing the proper ref pulled out hence why they got him ??

Sounds of it, it worked in our favour ??

In my experience, when playing Griffin Pk, they are not very keen when you take the game to them. They are not used to losing and unfortunately when it's going against em they have 3 or 4 players that try to intimidate players and officials. Of course this may not have been the case against Deeping and I know Sparky aint quick enough upstairs or downstairs to get anywhere near Tom.
