Can any body shed some light as to when the draw for the semi-finals of the PFA Challenge Cup will be made? What a result for Coates Athletic on saturday by the way!
I think we proved to everyone that we're more than capable of playing at a higher level. We've got one of the youngest squads in the league and we're going from strength to strength, i really think we can push for promotion this season! Would like to no anybody elses thought?

Eggbert!!
:stpd:
I think you are not far wrong old boy!!
It was a good result for us on Sat and one that was deserved too. Not sure when the draw is but the 4 semi-finalists are....Silver Jubilee (top of Div 1), Coates, Manea and Doddington (all Div 2).
Now gotta get back to the league, Eye have picked up a couple of good draws against Guyhirn and Stilton, so looks like it could be a good game!!
Well done to all semi-finalists. Just to let you know that all the draws for the Saturday competitions are due to be made at the PFA's next monthly meeting on Wednesday 13th December. I will update the draw section here hopefuly when I get home from the meeting that evening.

Does that mean the Senior Cup is pre-drawn Mark?
This season the draws for the first rounds were drawn on the same night in August. The number for subsequent rounds upto and not including the semi-finals were then drawn. The teams qualifying for the next rounds were allocated a number on alphabetical order following the games. In other words it was not possible to see the draw all the way through until each of the previous rounds were complete. The reason this done was so that the leagues could be advised of the next round as soon as possible. ie Saturday night to enable fixtures to be amended as early as they could. Previously a draw may have had to wait up to three weeks to be done. The Saturday Semi-Finals however will be drawn at our December meeting with the Sunday draws being made in January/February
Well Done Coates great result
Gotta now fancy the Jubilee looking at the teams left in the cup!! Jub top of div1 and have a side capable of finishing in the top half of the prem and really should have gone in the senior cup!!
However, cup throws up some shocks and Jub have to be aware of this no matter who they draw in the semis!!
I hear Jubes are struggling at the back.......
Tyler on hols and Now solid and have there guns out!! :gun:
Well JNE, you must have got a whole load of new players from last season. I guess from the Prem. Not sure of the point in that, have Jube got the facilities to go into the Prem ? Or are the new recruits just pot hunters, who are not good enough to win anything in the Prem.
What exactly is the criteria regarding facilities for entrance into the prem?
Can't really see how the league could justify turning down the Jub's application if they win the league this year.
cos the pdfl dont want a pub team in the prem(they'll deny it though!).
when i was playing for the jube the excuse we were given one year was no clubhouse near the pitch and no decent changing facilities available at bretton park. then that season they promoted stamford bels who play at a bloody school!
They have never denied it I don't think jb, it has always been said by the league that they don't want a pub team in the prem which is absolutely ridiculous as the majority of amatuer clubs are in fact sponsored by pubs and wouldn't exist without them !!
As for the criteria to becoming a prem side, well that goes out the window every season, in fact we at AFC Fletton even remarked a couple of weeks ago that it is probably the worst season this year for changing room conditions, pitches etc than it has ever been, there are at least 6 teams in our league that wouldn't qualify for the so called criteria if it was adhered to, can't name them 'cos I'll get in trouble........

Pub teams are for Sunday mornings. Look how many of them come and go. Bricklayers Arms, Peter Pan, Lime Tree, Nags Head and soon the Royal Oak. Same would happen to the Silver Jubillee pothunters when they got in the premier and lost a few games
Completely seperate issue spiderman, silver jubilee have been going for years and I'm sure they would attract enough players to survive in the prem, brickies were around for nearly ten years, nags head for longer (broadgate before that) Lime tree still going (if under another guise), Oak have been going for years and their demise is not confirmed, Peter Pan not alot you can do when they bulldoze the pub so basically you are talking ****e again, I will say for a bit of controversy that Hampton are a side that should never have been allowed in the prem with their facilities although they should be on their playing ability so far.....
Was wondering if Hampton met the criteria. I guess by what you are saying they don't. I remember the Jube being turned down before and surely if they were keen on making it to the Prem they would have improved there application ?
I personally believe that the stability question should always be part of the criteria but have very little sympathy for the Jube who at one football meeting said we should work harder to make our way. Touche.
Not sure what all the criterias are and not too fussed but thought the Hampton facilities were top notch to be fair.....apart from the stink from the drains!!!
I dont see what you have against pub teams Spidey, I know of one or two that would give your beloved Hampton a good going over!!!
Im sure if Jubes did win promotion they would attract more players and the comittee there would have everything in order.
It brings up the question though about the lack of facilities in this place??
Nip the pitch is awful! it was like playing on a mountain side not that i spent long on the pitch but the changing rooms were very good.
and the cross keys was a good place to get a few beers after the game.
Spidey whens your birthday?? so we can all chip in for a stripper for you its obviously been a while and you're venting you're frustration on here. chin up old boy.

My friends from Perkins you will not get to SpiderMan. On this occasion I am just expressing a view. Silver Jubilee is a long way from being a well run side Spec and there are things under the covers there that you are not aware off but that me and my paper may have to reveal once we uncover Mr Big.

after playing hampton last week, there changing facilities and so on was ok there is far worse. the only let down was having ti travel to the cross keys for a pint, to get there and have 35 or so turn up from the to teams and spectators to find also that the reserves had gone back. so a busy pub and one person serving.also the fact that there was no food layed on most clubs do still provide even if some charge.
Could be wrong but I thought it was a Prem requirement to have some food layed on and I thought that you had to have a club house. Would hardly call Cross Keys local.
I think that's all gone out the window now CAFC, clubs like ourselves have lost their pitches and base because of company policies and those that are still left will probably go the same way which is why the league should look at changing the criteria or at least clarify it better so clubs at least know what is expected of them to get in the prem, although we still lay food on for opposing sides and if my memory serves me correct, every away game we have had this year food has been supplied, perhaps Hampton just don't have any manners
Certainly helps a lot of teams if the criteria has changed. I thought that the criteria was dependant on the PDFL remaining at this level. Maybe not. I kind of thought that not only was it a requirement to lay on food but also that the opposition are obliged to eat it, if you catch my drift.
I think Mr Chambers could enlighten us as to what is required these days, obviously a clubhouse adjacent to the playing facilities is no longer required which in this day and age is sensible because of fat cat company bosses selling off pitches, as for making your opponents eat the food supplied well that would bring a smile to my face on a saturday afternoon !!
Sorry Spec, not been on for a while!! Will answer people qeustions as best I can -
Jubilee (Sat) are not pothunters just a side made up of local lads who drink in the pub and enjoy playing football for them.
This year Tyler managed to attract numerous players to the side that had been playing elsewhere either in Div 1 or the prem and they have now gone top of the league and applied for the Prem for next year. However, they will need to win it to get promoted and if they manage to do so??They will have to get there in house squabbles and lack of organisation sorted before the league even consider promoting them but they are getting there with new people on board such as wayne, seamus and others and with things on the ptch looking good we do need to improve things off it and we are!!
The 2 main issues for the current sat side and the league are the current facilities and the naming of the team which is currently Silver Jubilee F.C
Now with regards to the facilites it is simple, Jub have the option to and indeed do use ringwood, this is more than adequate for Sat football prem based on what is currently on offer. Large changing rooms, excellent pitch and tea making facilities as well as the option to rope off the pitch and some dugouts. So a move to Ringwood would solve the issue of facilities
The name?? Change it - simple as that - Jubilee North end or Bretton North End!!
Do people want Jub in the prem and that is the burning question :soo:
If they were to be promoted they would finish top half I have no doubts about that as the side in the Pub is excellent and with a few more of the lads who drink in there signing that said they would join if in the prem they would be a successful side.
Jub only just lost to Parson Dove in the league a couple of years ago and finished higher than Crowland who have done excellent also. People like to think the Prem is Great but bar 5/6 teams it is a poor show and improving it through quality sides and ok facilities is what the Committee should be looking to do!!
I for one am interested to see if Jubilee win the league will they be promoted?? :soo:
Sorry forgot to mention Combat - another Jub Stalwart
:dsc:
Thought you all boycotted the pub 2 weeks ago JNE
Ringwood would be ok and I would love to see The Jube in the prem but not as Jubilee North End or Bretton North End, no history behind any of those, why not stick it out with the pub name, the league wouldn't have a hope in hell of stopping you because you are named after a pub, trust me it's just if you have the b******s to fight it
would definately be good to see them there foggy! certainly better than teams like long sutton, stamford bels etc and given a few years there i think they'd be a real force. after all the rivalry we used to have with crowland it'd be nice to see that they were just a flash in the pan with many non-local players who jumped ship whereas the most of the jube team have grown up within a few miles radius of the club and always end up back there.
If Jubilee win the league and the application is in (which it is) then we will do all we can to try and get up!! Decision out of our hands but winning the league has to be done first and I know Griffin Park Rutland Rangers will be doing there best to stop us!!
Fancy us this year though and hopefully committee see sense!!
I Would like to know what certain committee members who use the site think but don't think we will get that?? :soo:
Jubilee appreciates people support though and now down to us!!

think u may have to add a few more names in that 1 son..... i know there maybe a few more teams who are quietly plodding along..
Sorry Eddie, missed you and Deeping off as just writing quick and we played other teams twice!! Good league this year again and some teams easily hold there own in prem!!
May the best team win

Dont get to carried away Yido you need to get there first, Yes you have already beaten 2 Div 1 sides this year but that does not mean you will beat us!!!!!!! I am still confident we will beat you next saturday, but we will have to see what happens on the day. Oh and Im not sure where or when the final is.
Come on the Jube :gun:

Yidos always get carried away when they can smell a final appearance
just like they did a few weeks at whit hart lane "2-0 and you f**ked it up 2-0 and you f**ked it up!"
then they got taught a footballing lesson by the youth team from down the road
Of course Jube have to be favourites. They have to put all their effort into the cups as the league looks beyond them.
We relish the opportunity to play against ex prem players, gives us chance to see if we have put together a squad that can compete at a higher level. Hopefully we can put up a performance like Stilton presumably did. Although they must have been real unlucky to lose 0 v 0 on penalties !!!!! (as per PDFL site)
I'm a bit concerned that again the cups is going to be a bit of a distraction from our drive to get out of lowly Div 2.

CAFC the league is still our main priority and it is not at all beyond us so not sure where you are looking as we are only 7 points behind the leaders with a game in hand and we have to still play them twice, also both Rutland & Deeping still have tough games against Netherton, Chatteris & Griffin Park so it is still there for the taking!!!!!!!!!!
Although the league is our priority like any team we want to win all the compertitions we enter in so we will be giving a 100% and looking to make the final no matter what, so it will all come down to who performs on the day and takes there chances as you have proved you can beat Div 1 teams so we will not my any means be underestimating you and we will be up for making the final.
Good Luck

Looks like our Semi Final wont be next week now, due to our Northants Q/F being cancelled today and I am led to believe this has to be played next week so our Semi will probably be put back until the following weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well if that's the case it won't be the following weekend either. As our Cambs cup game will take priority that weekend !!!!

Thats correct it is 4th May @ Chestnut Ave 6.30pm kickoff
I hear this has gone to a replay ?
Suprised that Manea held the Jube and when is it ?
It was abandoned in extra time due to the light, and I think will be replayed after you play Manea. So you can almost guarantee a weak Manea squad for their game vs you - it would be stupid for them to do otherwise.
why are saturday cup finals not played on saturdays? extra time and light has always been an issue at this time of year so why not play them on saturdays?
or is that too logical for the league :soo:
Replay is Friday 18th May, 6:15pm kick-off, Chestnut Avenue.
It's also a big ask for Manea to get a full strength side over to Peterborough for a 6.15pm kick off on a Friday evening. They took a lot of support over to the game last Friday so hopefully they can get exactly the same squad and support out.
They have a very vocal support over at Manea as I found out a couple of weeks ago. Did they play well, I thought they would struggle to stop the Jube in midfield.
They seem to have had some really good results and some really bad ones this season.
I don't think they were helped mid season when March Town had one or two Manea players playing in their 1sts. I think those are now back with Manea. Mark Wales, although now in his mid 30's, in his pomp was a strong March Town player in a half decent side. Saying that, I think Manea are quite capable of being stopped, as the seasons league table has proved.
If he is the geezer up front then he stands out a mile, he is an excellent footballer. Our defenders will have to be on top form to stop him from scoring.
It will be dissapointing to get this close, but it's been a good chase. Guyhirn must have looked at our fixtures and thought they we would have slipped up by now, I did. :whs:

Good point. We have tried to play the games on a Saturday as we do successfully with the Minor Cup. The trouble is that it would take up another two Saturdays and as the ground is used for a UCL side it would mean that they would have to play away three weeks on the trot. we have to consider other users of the centre.
In the past the Challenge cup kicks off at 6.30pm and is usually played on the first friday in May. This season it was going to be changed to 6.15pm. However you have to consider the travelling for the clubs. we at the PFA received a request from Manea to delay the kick off until 6.30pm. This was agreed. It is sods law that we were guaranteed a dull evening, It was poor light for most of the game. Ideally these problems will be avoid once floodlights are installed, hopefully soon. In the meantime a contingency rule change will probably have to be proposed. This would allow extra-time to be shortened to say 10 minutes each way or replaced all together with Penalties. This was used to good effect in the Johnstone Paints Trophy this past season.
Finally Manea played exceptionally well on the night, whilst Jubilee played well short of their potential. Hopefully we will be in for another cracker next Friday.

I cant see Jubilee playing that badly again.Once the midfield was changed Jubilee got on top.Danny played what looked like a lone striker role as i saw no support alongside him.Jubilee to win the replay and a much better performance next time.Oh and Mark, remember 1982, best laugh of the night

cup finals dont have to be played on the main PNS pitch do they. i know the UCL rules mean they cant share changing rooms so thats probably the issue. but why not wait until the last week of the season and then the next few weeks after that? you could easily get in 2 games on a sat afternoon.
when are the floodlights going to be going up at chestnut avenue? that would obviously solve the problems.
Hopefully before next season's finals.!!!?
What was the Manea v Jube replay score?
Teilo, i think the jube won 4 - 0, not suprising if that scoreline is correct as they have a quality side. I think manea may have taken them a bit by surprise in the intial game, but knowing ja he would have made sure is boys were better prepared for the replay.

That was the correct score 4-0 and it should of been more to be fair, Manea were lucky to catch us on a bad day in the first match and it wasent gonna happen again. It was a good end to a good season for the Jube, next year we will be pushing for the Div 1 title under our new name. So for the last time Go Jube :gun:
whats the new name to be?

It doesn't matter what it is jb as long as they don't have a pub name in it. That way the "people who decide" might see the light and finally let them into the prem.
yeah i know that from past experience! just curious as to what the new name would be.

The new name will be Bretton Park Rangers as from next season, the Sunday team will be keeping their original name for the time being.
