Rutland had the better of the opening 25 minutes and deservedly took the lead. However, the Saints hit back on the counter and Simon Brighty levelled when he responded first to a shot that rebounded off the crossbar. Rutland, who thought they were on to a sure 3 points up til then, lost their discipline. A Rutland elbow was spotted by the referee who decided that it only warranted a yellow card. Rutland lost their shape and the Saints were able to put pressure on at the other end.

At half time, Rutland clearly wern't happy with how they were playing, whilst the Saints took the opportunity to rest. In the second half, the wind picked up and blew right into the faces of the Saints defence. It meant that March spent alot of time dealing with the direct ball. March chances were created only through balls being played on the deck. Although there was a period in the first half where it could of kicked off big time, it was actually quite a good game.

I wouldn't normally write match reports, but it was apoint that ends a run of several successive defeats and takes March off the bottom, at least for a week! :dsc:

This Saturday we play the team whose place we've taken - Sutton Bridge. Subject to their 1st team having a game, we stand a good chance of winning - especially if we get a strong team out.
