yes mate we spanked them 6-3 then had a can of stella thrown through our changing room open window and told we should wait until we go to their place. not to sure if it was the players though maybe the people they brought with them although they are all a bit nutty apart from lee the manager who is a decent bloke.

We have got them on saturday, they sound like a bunch of one eyes to me
Cheers Donk. One eye's enough as long as we keep it on the league.
Could quite easily come on here throwing insults after every game but whats the need. The stella thing was a local of Langtoft I am told who had come down to watch one of his mates play for us.
Anyway, once again well done to Langtoft lets see if they can last the pace now they are there.
no offence intended Lee.
p.s. Stella might be a bit too strong for some of our boys, a can of shandy bass would be more appreciated

No way he would have been recognised on the side lines had he been local, seriously it wasn't a problem we all laughed about it as it came through i hardly think saying that your players are nutters is slagging off mind.
Donk just to help us I hope you beat them if you are just pumping the ball forward make sure its not on tokx's head and you might be ok.
You need a quick forward to play off the other Centre half mind and dont let their right winger shoot coz he can bloody shoot!
you enjoy it whilst you're there! we will be back on top after our little blip away at uppingham.(i hear they are netherton's bogey team away from home but personally in 3 visits with psl res's and 1st we ran up cricket scores against them so i was very dissapointed!) we are in the fortunate position to have an "A" team to call upon if we're struggling and our first team aren't interested in nicking our best players so come the end of the season we should have no excuses if we don't finish at least runners up as we have the best team and club set up in this league and probably in the whole pdfl.
have yet to play langtoft or gedney so we will know much more after that.

JB,
No disrespect to the sides you have played so far but you havent faced any real strong opposition we have had to beat alconbury who are excellent and the same goes for Pinchbeck who spanked their league last year, then a great win this weekend scoring 6 against a team who had only let in 3 all season,
I want to see you beat some of those boys before we consider you competition!
8-2 against psl res's with four 1st teamers including robbie osker and abbas not a strong side? i think so!!
Langtoft_United
16-10-2006, 10:18
Means nothing if their hearts not in it!
The teams we have played so far have squads that will stick together all season Gedney definately have team spirit as do Pinchbeck, I'm only pulling your leg I know you have a strong side and will be hard to beat, but as we are a much stronger side than the one that beat you lot 2-1 on your own patch last year.
watch this space! we have a trick up our sleeves and all will be revealed within the next couple of weeks!
i know your pulling my leg and i'm pulling yours!
oh and i wanted to get to 200 postings to get to world class!
How tempting is it to delete your posts? Hmmmmmm im getting itchy fingers

can you delete about 6 points off their total also please?
god we dont play netherton until the new year could have it wrapped up by them...
you wouldn't do that to an old mate would you ross?!
i have so much more i could add but i want to keep my status!!!!

Oh look, my finger slipped
See you have put table on here langtoft must really feel going top is a huge achievement?
Donk... Is Langtoft implying you play "Pumped' route one football? Your better than that no?
The fact our keeper's baby died this week should maybe excuse why he wasnt on his game. But he insisted on playing and we wanted him to play and do not regret it one bit he's a big part of our team and this and other events were maybe why our team spirit was clear to see. The poor lad even got a fat lip for his efforts.
Good that a combi league can mean so much to people lets keep it football... pm me Langtoft if you want to try and conclude between us the stella thing?

When you have been with a team like Langtoft who are always in the shadow of Deeping Rangers / Sports Yeah its a big thing to be doing well if it only lasts one week we are going to enjoy it. We have a great spirit to in our team and as a club we want to improve on league positionings and be as high as possible.
Thats awful news about your keeper and I'm very sorry to hear that it really is awful.
Finally Donks team scored a cracking (maybe a little lucky) goal against us in the 1st 15secs of the game with route one football. Keep it up lads!
Some weeks Lee when squad dictates it we end up playing the long ball, we took early leads against both langtoft and netherton doing this. But against PSL last sat with what was probably our strongest team of the season we over played it, we could have seriously been into double figures before the end. Looking forward to the game this weekend we should have 90% of the same team out so should give you a game, do any of the crowland lads in your first team ever have a run out for you?
Not really Donk, the two teams are quite stable with player numbers at the minute maybe why we have started well in the reserves as the lads I have, are there week in week out playing together.

gotta agree with you there Donk .. i felt embarressed to walk off that pitch with 5-1 defeat.. really ( although woefull finishing comes to mind ) 15-1 would of been a true figure of how 1 sided it was !!! JB you might have whooped our asses 2 weeks on the trot .. but you have gotta bear this in mind .. i have played 7 leagues games and 1 cup game this season .
I have NOT had a proper keeper in goall all season, and without taking anything away from the teams which have beaten us, i have had some crippling injuries in the first few games, and it has killed me !!!!
We even played the northants cup game away at islip with 8 men !!! yes 8 players turned up ....!! and we still only let in 9 goals ! the lads turned in a great perfornamce 2nd half .. 7-0 down at half time .. yet we still scored first in 2nd half !!!When i have a full squad i'm confident that we will take points off the high flying teams in the division !!
Well chuffed for you Langtoft ! :sm:
You have done well so far this season, and its nice to see some of the "non front runners" sitting pretty at the top !!!!!
look forward to playing you this season , although i must have a keeper or it could be a criket score
biffa i was actually stating that you had a strong side in the first game as our unbeaten start(like we had last season at psl) was being mocked by langtoft and i just wanted to point it out. but as already said in this thread just a bit of leg pulling and good quality banter.
could see from our cup game against crowland that they would batter someone soon cos they have the perfect players to play "route one" football very effectively and gave us a scare whilst we nearly got caught out giving some of the fringe players a start and disrupting our usual team.
we're coming to get you langtoft! :gun:

C'mon JB ... you know that there is no such thing as favourites in the last 4 ... i mean .. u put out satmford bells res in the last round ( div above us)
we put out deeping in rnd 3 (3rd in league above us at the time ) and then 2 weeks ago knockout chatteris res ( 2nd in league above us ) so really who ever draws perkins , can produce the the game of thier lives and kick out anyone.. you know on your day JB that u have a VERY strong squad !!! correct me if im wrong !!! Pino has done wonders with that team and u have proven that TWICE this season !!!
I think Gedney will be dark horses as to no-one really knowing what the are like after their swapping and changing ...we have started to buck our idea's up and players who have been tapped up by other clubs ( mention no names ) have decided that they can see the light at the end of the tunnell and decided to stay !!!!!!!!
dont you mean players that were begging to leave!!
at the end of the day a psl revival helps our title rivals drop points so its good for us as we've already got our six points from you this year
keep up the good work and we'll only have ourselves to blame if we fail this season!
oh we've beaten moulton and bels from league above so not too bad for a team who haven't played anyone any good hey langtoft? mind you as i've previously posted we perform against the good sides(hence the 6 points off you bif) and really under perform against the crap sides so you may get 6 points off us on that basis langtoft! :mnn:

Well the league table is kind of lying at the moment as I believe we have to replay our game against Kings Cliff so your not as close as you think JB.
This league is more exciting then the prem haha think you will agree that Kings Cliff have done us 2 favours in a week with smashing Gedney and Pinchbeck.
Also Wimblington are defo up here with us,
PSL this weekend glad to see their 1st team have a hard game so hopefully wont let their stars go.

STARS ???????? :nono: :nono: :nono:
That's not what we are about langtoft, we dont go raiding the 1st team just cuz we have a top of the table clash !! we are here to nurture the up and coming talent that tommy and co discover . just like mr atkins !! you know him don't you !! *snk*
He is a prime example of the talent that psl have this season !! 5 goals in as many games !!
we have played higher teams with the bare minimum 11 players of mine this year in the cup and :batr: them !!
without any 1st teamers ....
come what may this sat , it will be a great test for my lads to see how we fair against the top of the league ..
why do you have to play kings cliffe again ?? :conf:

Yes Matt is a quality player and I'm happy to have him. He wouldnt have played this weekend 7 days or not but I definately would have done the same thing.
A wrong name was put down against Kings Cliff on the 1st game of the season mix up with signing on forms, it was a honest mistake we even lost the game 4-2 but Stu scored twice.
Instead of losing points as actually we didnt cheat we were fined heavily and made to replay the game at our cost.
End of season Jobby I think.
regardless of the impact it may have at the top of this league replaying a game where the team in the wrong lost is ludicrous and sums the pdfl up!
surely you should just get fined and let the result stand :soo:
whether it involves us or not the pdfl will have a lot to answer for if you get a positive outcome of that game and it ultimately costs another team as it will have basically been a second chance rather than a punishment.
Langtoft_United
06-12-2006, 15:36
We are surprised too, however we were fined alot more then normal which defo hit the club hard, also I don't think it will make much difference we will have won it by the end of Jan
mmmm we shall see!! bif i think you'd better tell mr langtoft how easily the wheels can fall off when you're walking the league and not even dropped any points by this time of the season.

Am I reading this correctly?
A team fields an illegal player and loses the game.
They're caught after the game (may have been an innocent error but it dont matter surely!) and are fined heavily...
But wait a minute they're asked to replay the game and have another chance at 3 points?
If I were in that league and near the top I'd be livid!!!
They lost the game so the result should stand PLUS being fined.
I think I'd be looking for any connections to the team in question and the PDFL, friends or family doing someone a favour perhaps... It has to be because if that's what has happened then it's a farce...
Being fined says they have been found guilty - getting a replay and a chance to overturn a loss is rewarding a guilty team :soo:
Langtoft_United
06-12-2006, 15:56
It wasnt the case of an illegal player / cheating just the wrong name written down due to the manager being away and a team full of new players being around the man in charge.
The players had the same 1st name it was just f up on the admin side, we had 5 subs on the bench there would be no need to play an illegal player anyhow.
The decision was strange but the outcome still hurt us
Back of the Net
06-12-2006, 16:00
doesn't matter how innocent the error was...
The PDFL fined you so that says they found you guilty - yes?
If found guilty for that game then how can a replay hurt you?
fines are another matter and can't be linked to getting a 2nd bite at the cherry....
Other teams near the top will surely be wondering how on earth you pulled it off
Langtoft_United
06-12-2006, 16:02
A replay midweek in the summer all the way to Kings Cliff which we have to pay for along with the massive fine, any club at this level is gonna be hurt by that.
Kings Cliff are a better side then last season and how many people will want to travel.
you'll also have your pick of your first team as the chances are they wont be playing the same night if its midweek. at the end of the season all players want to get as much footy in before the summer break provided they're fit so i'm sure you'll get planty of 1st teamers up for a game-especially if it could win you the league.

06-12-2006, 16:19

06-12-2006, 16:20
If thats the case why dont you lot take the loss then????
A letter to the PDFL accepting the loss would do it!
However you look at it it's wrong!
You got caught with incorrect paperwork in a game you lost - being fined proved the guilt however innocent the mistake yeah?
getting a replay and 2nd bite at 3 points is a joke whichever league you're in
What happens if you win that replay and you win the league by 2 points???? the team in 2nd would rightly be feeling well hard done by wouldn't they???
I can't believe we're discussing this - it's plain for ALL to see that a replay is a joke.. you lost the game so the result has to stand or others are gonna look at it and know something underhand has happened :soo:
Langtoft_United

:blh:
lets hope you don't win the league due to points you may gain from that match or cost someone promotion as there will definitely be appeals from all clubs affected
just had an interesting chat about this with someone from netherton. apparently our A team were in the same boat as kings cliffe find themselves in and our A team refused to replay the game as they had won it fair and square regardless of what issues there may have been with the opposition. instead they decided a points deduction and fine was more appropriate. a precedent has been set by the league so watch this space as we will be airing our grievances with the league as i'm sure will kings cliffe and other teams possibly affected.
The league did make an error when they said Netherton A had to reply a game which they had won, the langtoft Res v Kings cliffe game was also on the same set off minutes.
After speaking to someone from the PDFL about the A team game, they said the game would not be replied, it was just a print error - as easy as that!
I can see no way that the game will be replied!
Just think about it, a team is losing so the manager decides to make a sub and put some random spectator on who is not registered, according to what is being said the game would be replied - NO CHANCE!
We will c what happens but i know what i would bank on.

i find it very alarming when we suddenly find out somthing as BIG as this yet no one really got to hear about it ...
I hold my hands up and :surr: and admit that im the worst culpret in obtaining fine's to the league in 1 form or another , but i soon get fined ...
However.... *roolz* are *roolz* and to me that it very unfair for other teams chasing the leaders that the game gets a "replay" verdict.fines can be dished out willy nilly to anyone .. but that is wrong, why should kings cliffe have to replay a game in which they won , and they are being penilised by the league for no error of thier own ?? :conf: :conf:
i have no sour grapes this season, we have been poor, and we are currently out of contention for the league , but to be bragging that the season will be over by the time u need to replay is is astonishing :wow: :wow: and a compleate :joke: !!
you are so right JB , that a season can fall apart so easily it is untrue !!
Last season i had not lost a game at all up untill the 17th dec and then then it all went PETE TONG !!!!!!!!!

I have for months read and listened to all the fun of combination corner around Div 2 res league and have been amused and chuckled by it all so thought it was time i logged in and joined the fun....
I agree with alot of today's topic, Langtoft Res should never be aloud to replay the game in question and the PFA should question there own rules if they do allow it but after all rules are rules (stated by all those responding to this topic) and Langtoft Res will only do as the league says even if that means replaying the game and wining it and taking the 3 points and potentially winning the league by 2......
Should Langtoft feel bad about that, no, they breached the rules and have paid the penalty imposed on them by PFA, if you go into a shop and buy something for £2 ande give a £5 note and get £8 back you don't complain do you, same in this instance abide by the imposaed rule.

Arfur.... like it mate... going into a shop and paying with a fiver etc...
it's hardly the same though is it mate.. think about it
This team got caught doing something wrong... the were fined to prove it.. they then get rewarded by getting a chance to reverse the loss they suffered in the game they were caught out in...
It's more like..........
Ok you're bangin you're best mates bird behind his back - he knows nothing about it until a snidey mate tells him over a beer...
Sh*t, you've been rumbled......
You're mate confronts you and beats you heavily because you both know you're in the wrong on this one!!!...
After 4 weeks in hospital you get home only to find your mate waiting for you at the door - oh dear round 2....
BUT no whats this, he shakes your hand and says no hard feelings mate, she's upstairs waiting for you, go right ahead and have another go yeah

Lads rules are rules we will go by whatever punishment we have been given which is a heavier fine then normal.
If your looking for a similar situation I would suggest a man commits a crime get 5 yrs when everyone else (who doesnt make the rules) says he should get life.
"Um Judge!! Can I have life please?"
I must say that is the best quote i have ever heard and congratualations on that inlighten look into your minds eye...I do trust this story is fictional.........
As i said i agree Langtoft have been punished in one hand and then given a better incentive in another, but the law of the PDFL is final and you cannot hold Langtoft responsible for that but merely the league..
Would you therefore expect Langtoft to write to the League and turn down such a gift horse.
Would you ? Not sure if you play for a club or manage in this league (be interested to know that) but given the scenario the Langtoft manager has been given would you complain ????
Back of the Net

I manage a team outside of the P'boro Sat league mate...
I, like yourself was just reading this and thought I'd make a comment as I think it's a joke what the league have done (If indeed that is what happened!!)
At no stage have I said Langtoft are wrong to accept the PFA ruling.. of course they have to go by whats laid out - rules is rules n all that!
My entire point is that the rules seem to be wrong in this case and surely others in that league will be wondering why the league have done Langtoft a favour??? of course Langtoft will take it but does that make it right?
As JB said - wait till the end of the season and IF they win by 2 points and have won that replay, then there will be uproar from the teams below them...
ohhh and no it wasn't from experience, just thought I'd lighten the tone a little with a comical theory!!!
Yeah i agree with you it is a joke. Lets hope they win the league by a country mile.....
So your side having a good season outside the Peterborough league..i didn't realise there was leagues out in the countryside.....
Having been a manager for past 3 seasons but given up at end last year i think all managers need a pat on the back as players do not realise how much hard work goes in to it...So hope your team is doing well..
Back of the Net
07-12-2006, 15:25
Arfur.... I manage a team in P'boro just not a Saturday side mate..
Sunday mornings all the way for me.. and yeah we're doing ok I guess...
I get a lot of help at our club and our sponsors would be one of the best in the city in my opinion so that helps no end, but yeah managers do have their work cut out and should get more support within the local game I reckon
Well pleased it is going well and maybe that is a whole new topic area internal club and sponsors support for managers and the job they do.
Havinv been both i can understand the hard work people put in but players sometimes do not realise that, just turn up with boots on sat and play.....
Anyway from all your conversations and discussions on here who is your tip then ??Langtoft to win by a point and the rest to complain...or shall we all find a good mate with a fit bird and take a chance.,......he he
i dont think anyone is directing their criticism at langtoft as they dont make the rules. just raising the point of it being wrong

who cares anyway . u would lose the replay , so bothered
langtoft will not be replaying their game against kings cliffe the league have confirmed to us via email. prob points reduction who knows but deffo no replay :flip:
It's good to see the League's communication network is wroking well again and a sports talk site has information before a club does......
Shocking...
But i do agree Langtift should not be replaying it and the game is lost and fine emposed end of story, certainly the league cannot now impose points deductions as the matter is closed and dealt with at the disciplanary meeting (even if they have now changed there minds and not informed the club)
The merry go round fun of the PDFL.......
