Saw first half of Jubilee v Powerleague - 1-0 to Jube with new signing Lee Harbour notching, should have been more but other new signing Lee Ayres wasted a lot of opportunities and looks a poor signing. Powerleague spirited but limited.
Then watched 2nd half of Woodston v Westwood which ended 3-3. Westwood were VERY short of a full team, but still should have won comfortably. Needed a goal 5 minutes from time by Tractor Boy Troy to rescue a point. Woodston have 1 or 2 decent players, including the keeper who has gone into my notebook!
What notebooks that for then Tommy, you taking him out on a date !!
Tommy, you probably wont be able to find Lea Jordan (the Woodston keeper) plying his trade in Peterborough on a saturday. He plays for Soham Town in the Ridgeons League (and he was loaned to Yaxley for a couple of games)
Poor Lea has witnessed me refereeing twice and assistant referee once already this season (and its only 3 September)
Thoroughly enjoyable game to referee between Woodston and Westwood, both behaved in the true spirit of the game and competed throughout.

Thanks Paul, but I was aware who he was and who said I would be plying my trade in Peterborough?
Interesting chat with Nick Titman on the sideline this morning about life in general and he knew about the situation with Lea and a fair bit besides. Most disturbing fact he gave me was that Peterborough has the 4th worst referee retention rate in the country, which says something about the way in which they are treated overall and why there is a perceived shortage of quality ones locally.
When you add that to the lack of playing talent in this area (how many ex Peterborough lads are playing in the football league - Malcolm Christie, Dave Norris and ...) the lack of a quality 2nd club in the city (aka Cambridge with Cambridge City AND Histon) and the total disconnect between Peterborough United and the local community under Barry Fry then we are in a pretty dire state - sorry not usually this negative but what are we going to do about this sorry state of affairs?

Send them to Ipswich

Ipswich doesn't need them Tommy - a town 2/3 the size of Peterborough and the sea all up 1 side means it has no catchment area, but still has an average gate of 23,000 and has the likes of Keiron Dyer, Richard Wright and Titus Bramble all playing in the league with many others in the past including Kevin Beattie etc.
Also has the likes of Ipswich Wanderers and Whitton playing at a higher level (not sure about ref situation??) - seems to be in a better position than us?

If Ipswich is so much better Tommy maybe you should go live there mate  ..... but stick around long enough to see how The Posh get on in the Carling Cup eh   - sorry mate couldn't resist! thought this was supposed to be a string discussing Sunday morning results???
Not a discussion on how poorly we compare to the Might of Ipswich and surrounding counties? I'm totally with you on the points you raise mind you!!!
Anyway lads... I'm on hols down sarrrrfff and wondered if anyone would be good enough to post the results from Sunday?? all leagues in particular Div 3 as i have an interest there myself!!! CHEERS!
Oh and lee if you're reading this, well done Saturday mate, good result! How'd the boys get on Sunday afternoon?
right off for a stroll down on the sea-front! and maybe a
 or
Cheers BOTN, we dont start our Sunday PM campaign until Next sunday 10th but, not sure whether you was aware there was a memorial cup that took place this sunday in memory of Nick Carter...
Games 30minutes and no offsides!!! Lost semi-final 2-1 to a blantent penalty which was rightly given against us and a freekick which with no offsides was a nightmare they just crowded the keeper when it was took... a bit of joke really bit cannot complain it was played in the right spirit apart from one episode on the other pitch !!!
Enjoy your holiday mate have a  for me

Yep sorry about the rant Lee, though moving to Ipswich because they have a better football set up is a bit extreme - in terms of next season already beginning to think about looking to do something about it myself and work with a club that has the desire and capability to move higher - oops sorry this is the Sunday slot
It wasnt me, Tommy? It was BOTN...
In fact a good old rant on these forums helps us to get things off our chests!
Although if you need a challenge at a club your always welcome to join my Chelsea/West Ham style revolution at Bluebell FC/Gedney Res
Gedney might suit aye... What with Tractors n' combine harvesters!
No worries Tommy, thought you were trying to find out who the Woodston lad was.
I totally agree with the lack of Peterborough talent playing in the football league and the total alienation from the so called "professional" club. It does seem strange that Cambridge has one Conference club and two Conference south clubs in a rather small area when you compare it to Peterborough.
Tommy, are you applying for the Boston job when Steve Evans departs???
Anyway, glad the season has returned and looking forward to some decent games in the next eight months.
Didn't know Budget had an office in Boston now :soo:
there are plenty of peterborough lads playing pro football. the thing is they've been snapped up as youngsters so no one really gets to hear about them as their local football is played in the junior leagues. darren kenton, julian joachim and david bentley are a few well known footballers that are born and bred "peterborough boys". darren bent lives in the ramsey area although i'm not sure whether he's from that area(not sure why you'd wanna live there if you came from somewhere else and had all that money!!)
sunday leagues are definately in need of some re-organisation. the leagues are far too small and just 1 bad result can seriously dent any hopes you have of winning the league as you dont have as many games to turn things around and if you have a couple of bad results your league season is practically over. this also has the same effect at the bottom which would explain why so many of the teams near the bottom struggle to get teams out even in the prem.
