View Full Version : 06/07 Season
It looks as though most team's pre-season training has kicked off and managers are scrambling for signatures.
Perkins are shaping up to be favourites (no change from last year). I assume Fletton, although i have no idea of who is staying/who is leaving.
What about Moulton? Mr Treacher had suggested he would not be with the Lincs side this term, and a few other talented youngsters. Any truth in that?
PSL to have a strong side maybe? And i'm sure Whittlesey will be up there this year.
Not sure how we'll get on this year but looking forward to another season

im sure perkins can do better then last season, would be harder for them to finish lower!
hear the fletton (hotpoint) players from last season still dnt know whats happening? none have signed or have been ask to sign yet. well so the rumours are going?
heard that fletton reserves have started training.
never write moulton off they will always be there abouts!.
dnt think whittlesey will be as good as when under lee, think that garry butterworth will quit by xmas.
crowland not as strong i feel and hamish curtis in charge!! another to quit by xmas.
oundle no better then last season.
leverington weaker by all accounts
hampton i feel will be fine and better then most of last seasons teams
psl ??well seems to have a made good few new signings and now have a top keeper lined up, like perkins would be hard to finish below seasons effort.
others just mid to bottom half of the table.

Parson Drove could also now struggle with Alan Russell going to March, and the landlord of their pub / base also leaving for pastures new I understand.
I thought Crowland would be one of the main contenders this year under Dave, but can't see that now, so along with the end of Ortonians (remember them?!) 3 out of last years top 5 are out of the running this season.
Perkins and PSL are always fancied at this time of year and if 1 of them is going to produce then it has got to be this year when it would appear that the league is going to be slightly easier to win.
Any price you want for Stamford Bells (who to be fair always give you a game), Wimblington, Pinchbeck, Uppingham, Long Sutton and don,t know about Leverington
Won't discount Fletton, Whittlesey or Moulton who all know how to be challengers. Oundle have a bit of ground to make up and Woodlands will do ok - have no idea (or interest!) in movement of players, but if Roger has kept Alconbury together and managed to add 1 or 2 then I will burden him with my selection
Good luck to you all - PS: does anyone know where the League Trophy is please?

Hey Tommy think you left it at Moulton. Thats the only way we'll get our hands on it until May
You asked any of the Pinchbeck boys???? Not that any of them knows what it looks like!!!!! Apart from the photos in the clubroom.
Then again it could be there in May the way they keep talking :blh: :blh:

carefree at it again talking the same old rubbish,to say that butterworth will quit by xmas, started training already at whittlesey and the turn out of over 30 for first session last sat with england on later that day shows the commitment those lads have. also a couple of new faces at training weather they sing or not will be ntresting but feel a good season instore for them this year
Isn't that rumour tree a wonderful thing, always puts a smile on my face !!

spot on Blue Boys mate - Carefree you should be on the stage!! - if I have read your post right and followed your in depth analysis to its final conclusion the Premier league this year will have a two tier look to it, with two or three teams in the 1st echelon and the remainder fighting to stay off the bottom :blh:
Butts will be here for the duration -so I would take a look at the crystal ball you use to make your predictions, its obviously flawed - don't take my word for it though, pop along to a training session and see for yourself - oh and Lee hasn't left the club, and is still actively involved in training etc
And yes we have made two or three excellent signings which will more than make up for those that have moved on.
cant wait for the season to start -

hit a nerve there then blue nose?
i stick 2 what i've said and thats my opinion!
lee back in charge by xmas?
Carefree disagree entirely with your comments, their unfounded and obviously tie down to and underlying dislike of Wsey.
Whittlesey will be up there or thereabouts come May, no problemo. Butts is looking forward to the forthcoming season and challenge that lays ahead.
Whittlesey have kept the main nucleus of their squad as well as adding some tremendous players who are undoubtedly top drawer (as some would have seen yesterday). The forthcoming season for the 1st team and reserves looks good, and everyone involved with the club cannot wait for the season to start!!!
COME ON!!! :dsc:

u got that 1 wrong barrel of laughs
its my opinion! :mnn:
aint got a dislike 4 whittlesey at all :soo:
hope captain marvel does see out the season, but cant see it.
maybe if he goes on here it might inspirer him 2 stay?
good luck 2 u blue noses.
5 a side dnt mean that u wil b great as an 11 a side team
didn't perkins reserves win it on sunday????
At the end of the day Perkins fielded 5 capable players it sounds like people are trying to undermine all the other teams by saying it was their reserves that won.
The group played well together and anybody who has seen Johno (and their number 14) on a five aside pitch know they are more than capable at competing at that level.
Any team having got to the final could use that as an excuse with it only being 5aside after entering 2/3 teams made up of their squad.
It was a very well run day all credit to Gino and assistants.

It was a Perkins Reserves side that won the competition (i'm the manager, and i still don't know how, but we did). i like to think that whenever i put a team out that the players are 'capable' and our performances last season showed that to be the case. i have what can only be described as an 'experienced side' and with that in mind i am glad to announce the signings of the youthful trio of Paul Johnson, Des Bonney and Colin Strickle.
i would like to thank Gino and Alec for all their hard work, to produce what was a great day of football.

Good to see Perkins following the Ortonians path to success, and I am not talking about the players or the system.
A pre-season friendly with Skegness Town is a great idea, and you guys should have a great time in "Skeggy" doing the team bonding bit.
We enjoyed our trip there last year - it is a decent ground and the nightlife is just what the boys wanted to get to know each other better ahead of the serious business.
Who was the guy at the back (middle aged one) played in the final.
For shall we say an 'experienced' player he look very composed on and off the ball and handled the Whittlesey guys pretty damn well - fair play to him!
Anyway well done look forward to the next one.

micky graham lee, jonno still has a gud touch agreed there, but looked fat and unable to move quickly
fair play 2 them 4 winning it, but as i stated 5 a side is totally diferent mate, do u believe that blue bell cld bet whittlesey perkins oundle alconbury or any of the other sides in an 11 a side match?
i m not knocking your team and i know that u play sundays.
watched perkins 2nds get beat by a few teams in the league round on sunday but they got the luck after that and won and from what i ve heard deserved it.
remember they were the most successful team local on sat last season, a league title, cup and runners up.
i hear that u have been busy lee and cld spring a few shocks yourself, a few stars already signed eh?
Carefree yeah Ive certainly been busy on the signing front mate.
And to be honest dont see why we should not be able to give any of the sides a run for their money seen as most of our players either play Saturdays or have been head hunted by such sides (although i dont ever remember saying we would)... we would most likely get beat but our attitude going into any game is to win.
We play sundays yes, I think we were the only Sunday afternoon side down there? After we missed the deadline for Saturday league entry it was a case of Sunday mornings or Afternoons... you try getting our lads up on a Sunday morning after a Saturday nite (myself inc)!!! so that made our minds up.
But to be fair mate Im flattered that a club I founded only 2 seasons ago is being talked about in so many positive ways.
In respect of Johnno if he strikes the ball that often as cleanly as he did in the Final who gives a S**t if the lad carnt move!

poor carefree, no mates and has to come on here to try and wind people up. fair enough perkins one the day on penalties but the biggest let down in my book on the day was lord westwood entering two teams and not turning up.
lee your set up and commitment is totally wasted on a hardly competetive sunday afternoon league. you should bust your balls and get your team in the sat league as thats where clubs that are organised like yours deserve to be!
mind you you'll have to change your name as pub teams are no longer welcome to join the sat league!
Bit late now, seeing as the season is nearly upon us

p.s did i mention that lord westwood didn't lose a game sunday?
Jb, we did try to see if we could get a team in the sat league we enquired in MAY this year and we was told by the secretary of the league we were to late!! :soo: (we also wrote without reply!!)
Our club name is officially Bluebell FC (this is also an estate in Dogsthorpe so we could soon blag that one.)
I wouldnt mind getting involved with a Saturday club sooner or later.
