Saw Eddie play the other day, and have to admit he played exceptionally well. Has he been consistant this season? Must admit as a young lad he always showed great potential, but he finally seems to be realising it.

Anyone else?
Who are the other top defenders around at the moment? People's oppinions?

As well as my college responsibilities, I operate in the part-time position of youth development coordinator for a well-known sports representation agency. As such I see plenty of games and plenty of young talent.

I agree with the writers observations. Patten shows great quality in his play; particularly in his tackling and positioning. He needs to improve his distribution elements, but this will develop in tandem with awareness and physical fitness.

Attention should be afforded to physical condition in particular diet (reduction in greasy lunchtime foods). This would enhance his transition from defence to attack and give him more impact at set-pieces (an area he current underachieves to his apparent potential)

I look forward to monitoring his progression. Please feel free to contact me at the college or at matches if I'm available.

Eddie an ok player but not the best defender around. Cant use his left foot, distribution is poor and positional play could be imporved a lot.
Does have good pace which helps him out and great determination to win
Surprise though that Ortonians let Ian Hair go and kept Eddie
