Due to family commitments Lee has had to stand down as the manager of the 1st team, he took us to our first championship and all of the club thank him for the tremendous work he has done -

Now with great pleasure Whittlesey United F.C. can formally announce that the new manager of Whittlesey United for the 2006/07 season will be Gary Butterworth.
Iits absolutley brilliant news - as Gary will bring a wealth of experience to the club gainded from his time as a professional player, and we look forward to using this knowledge to take the club forwards.

I know all of the Whittlesey lads are delighted that Gary has agreed to take on the role, and we look forward to welcoming both old and new players at the pre season get together that Gary plans to call, details of dates etc to be announced.

With this appointment Whittlesey have put the stake in the ground for the 2006/2007 season, bring it on !!!!

Great shame Lee has had to pack in at whittlesey he has done a fanstatic job since taking charge there.
League looks a little shaky at moment I reckon easily the three best managers in the Prem Tommy C, Lee Minett and Dave Willis have now quit and a fourth could be on his way by the weekend!

Well said Chris, fortunately although Lee's circumstances mean he isnt going to be available on Saturdays he is still remaining with the club and will retain his place on the committee so be able to offer advice to Gary as he takes his first step into management -

Whittlesey are fortunate in that losing Lee we have been able to appoint someone of Gary's ability, not only has he been a professional footballer, he has also played for and captained his country. Great cudos for our club and a tremendous example for our youngsters to follow.

whatever moves and changes happen during the close season this has got to be the best signing a local club has made for many years.....

Mick, Agreed this is fantastic news for Whittlesey Utd and as was rightly described by yourself in the AGM as a 'major coup by WUFC'.

Gary will bring a wealth of knowledge to the club and is a massive asset to the football club as a whole.

I'm extremely confident that the club is moving in a very positive direction, with some good people striving to make the club successful on and off the pitch.

I also take this opportunity to thank Lee for his great work over the past few years and wish him all the best.

P.S. Please let me know details re next weeks mtg.

Cheers, Barrel
