ortonians dont(or didn't) have the best squad in the league in terms of pure footballing ability(as oppose to the likes of hotpoint) but with their approach and belief they have dominated almost every competition they've been involved in including teams from many levels above the pboro prem. with failure the buck always stops with the manager and it is the same for success. and with the financial restrictions at posh i think they could do well at looking for a local successful manager. look at boston after they plucked steve evans from stamford the club really took off!!

they have missed out on many good local players in recent years who have gone on to much bigger and better things than posh and i'd hate them to let a good manager slip through their fingers aswell(they also had aidy boothroyd on the coaching staff!).

the club could also do with a reality check which i think tommy c would give and he'd also sign bainsy!!!!!

does anyone agree or not?

i know it sounds a real wild card, but Tommy am sure could do it. Needs a semi pro club first though?? Steve Evans has made the leap very successfully from Gedney Hill to Boston

lol! the reason i made the suggestion is that posh are quite similar to ortonians in terms of their team and stature in the league they play in-the only difference is that ortonians were much better organised! ortonians like posh didn't have the most gifted squad in their league but did have one of the best as did posh but one team had a successful season when organised properly.

posh DO have the players(a couple out and a couple in) but i fear we are just gonna get another big name rather than a proven track record(god help us if we get big ron! his impact at the club already has been disastrous) and at the end of the day football is football just at different level. its not like i'm saying take the ortonians squad to posh as as there is already a similar squad their in relation to the standard that they play in(one of the best just need organisation).

god i just read that and I thought i'd been drinking

I think both Tommy and Ron Seddon should apply for the vacant position at London Road. Neither could do as badly as the incompetent Barry Fry over the last 10 years.
