With the prem starting in a weeks time we have squeezed another game against a prem opponent in tonight.
our last prem game will be against Oundle on Saturday.
Tonight was a test of character for us, we had ten players we could possibly choose from missing today and had to make do with a midfielder up front.
Starting off well it looked like it was going to be a good game between the two of us... after about ten mins the prem side took control and over ran us in the middle.
We went one nil down to a penalty well put away by the Pinchbeck player, this was ten followed up with a foul on Weston who took the pen at a nice hight for the keeper who got a good palm on the ball and sent it out for a throw in!
Half time and 3 changes were made.
we now have two strikers up front and this definately made a difference.
Pinchbeck started the half well and after 5 minutes of pressure forced a mistake at the back and our keeper Billy felt generous and gave the ball to the opp striker "there you go mate, tap it in" is probably what he said as he rolled him the ball!
Im glad to say that we managed to step up our game and started to play the football we have been working on in training, a corner came in cleared to the edge where Coxy hit a sweet left foot shot down the middle but too hard for the keeper to save.
shortly after we should have had a penalty but the ref gave a corner instead... it happens.
twenty minutes to go and i feel we were getting the better of the prem side, a lovely splitting ball down the middle from...... Billy - route one!
Luke broke free of his marker and sent a half volley sailing passed the keeper.
Pinchbeck had their chances but could do nothing to stop a good passing move that saw Spencer chip the ball thru to Ryan and a nice neat volley flew over the keepers head and either cleared off the line or over the line but the Pinchbeck lino gave it so the ref went with the flag (fair play)
All in all a great come back from two nil down and another good result in the build up to a tough season.
