well known and respected local footballer Jamie Cole was found dead at home today and it seems that he had an accident in his garage which resulted in a fatal blow to the head. Jamie was well known in the local football community having spent many years at ortonians and stamford and more recently has been a major figure at netherton for several years. The boathouse was a very sombre place this evening as a lot of his friends turned up to toast his life which he lived to the full.

You are a top man jamie and we're all devasated at this news, you're well loved and will never be forgotten!!!!!

RIP mate and i'll see you again some day.

Watched him in the cup final last season vs Parkway. An absolute gentleman. Hard in his tackles but always fair. Loved success but gracious in defeat. We could all learn a lesson from him. Heaven is a better place with you there Jamie. RIP

In the short time I was with Jamie at Netherton I found him to be such an inspirational character within the dressing room. As team captain he always had time for everybody with his motivational words of guidance and special homemade ointment jelly! He was such a down to earth and fun-loving guy, it was a real joy to be in his presence if only for a short moment in time.

Rest in peace JC,

Ces

I had the pleasure of watching and voting for him as man of the match in the McCains Cup Final v Parkway. It was a pleasure to know we had selected the right man when both teams and most of the crowd joined in the applause whe his name was announced. The lad hardly missed a tackle all game, and didn't misplace a pass. His attitude was exemplary when winning and finally when losing. The local leagues will miss his outlook on the game. let's hope many others will pick up his banner and carry it on.My condolences go to his family and the the players, staff and supporters of Netherton Utd.R.I.P Jamie there are some great teams and players up there waiting for you to join in

dont want to say to much as i as well as everyone at netherton are still abit numb and in shock . but just thought id share a legendry netherton tale which we all at netherton know about but maybe a few others who either didnt know him or people who did know him, would like to hear which sums up his character ,

at netherton we continued what people used to do at ortonians , called the stamford run . we all get on a train get drunk in many bars in stamford and then come home when we cant drink no more .
jamie cole unfortunatly couldnt get a taxi home as no one would take him , so he took the decision at 3 am to walk to the train station and start walking down the line in the direction of peterborough .

5 hours later after walking 14 miles he arrived at peterborough , had a cup of tea had a hot bath , did some loose stretchin , got to the grange for the 10 am sunday morning kick off . we won 5-0. jamie scored all 5 . thats the sort of attitude he had to us at netherton . not once lettin anyone down . your a top man and we will all miss you loads ..

I have to second that, I worked with Jamie at standardlife we were partners in the east anglia area. I'm in florida right now and got told this morning.
Jamie was always there for anyone, there was nothing he would not do for anyone. Without doubt he was the most honest true friend you could ever have hoped to have. He will be missed more and more each day. RIP JC
