View Full Version : A Change Of Identity

Following certain postings made on this site by myself and a.n.other (whose identity I know but will not reveal as that is his priority) it seems that the moderators of this site and the sites landlord ? (don't know what you really call them, host perhaps) have got themselves into a bit of bother.
I would publicly like to state that it was my opinion expressed, as it always is on this site, and nobody else whatsoever was involved in the make up or application of my opinion being posted on here.
I am sincerely sorry if I have gotten a few honest people into hot water because of my comments and would say that this is the case because they are an easier target to go for than myself.
The whole point of this site is to express an opinion and that is what I did, that is also what I will continue to do and again I will reiterate what I said in a previous quote that I will not be bullied into keeping quiet on a subject that I have a sincere interest in.
Should this league official wish to pursue with any further action may I suggest that he takes it up with me personally and leave the innocent moderators and other innocent users of this site alone.

As we appear to be under a Communist regime now how about a few suggestions as to a new identity for myself, perhaps something with a Russian or Chinese theme, a few beers in it for the winner !!!!

totally agree with you spec-its easy to complain about the innocent people giving us this service when someone has a go at you when you should have the balls to confront the person who passes any comment about you directly.

i think you should change your identity with a russian theme-maybe specski and get one of your wealthy russian friends to buy posh and they can bank roll us to the premiership with you at the helm!
sure nobody would like us at all and we'd be really boring and make a mockery of players and fans ambitions, passion and commitment but at least we'd win something!!!

now that really does remind me of another team i just cant think who? :soo:

Bit of a ramble here lads - sorry... but it does need addressing!!!

Well said Spec, it does seem as if there's been "come-back" on comments made about a certain individual, I too had expressed my own opion and it was just exactly that - MY OWN OPINION....
Apologies to those that run the site if it's got you into hot water, I am sure each and every user that reads and posts messages on here would not want to drop anyone in the sh*t by voicing their opinions...

I really dont want to go into details of whoever this may be but in MY OWN OPINION whoever it is thats took offence and have come after the site hosts when it's very clear who it is that have posted the messages is out of order!!!
Spec has just posted saying he's more than happy to have this (alledged) person come to him direct... there's a picture of the guy next to his name if you're reading this and for some biazzare reason dont know who Spec is!!! I would hazard a guess though that the person invovled has no interest in speaking to Spec as he knows Spec wont be harrassed into changing his views and he cant do anything about it seeing as Spec has clearly said he'd sit in front of anyone and say the same (with evidence I'm sure he posted?)....!
I did myself post messages in the same thread which i think (my own opinion again!!!) has caused the problem and I'd hazard a guess that it's my own identity and maybe anothers that this alledged person is seeking, as I'm involved with a club thats ruled over by the committee he's on...

I'll not be changing my views either though, I stand by what I said as my own opinion.. it could land our club, and/or myself in trouble I guess but if it brings to light how vindictive certain (alledged) individuals can be then I'd take that as it'd maybe prove our opinions have substance after all...

I'd also like to add that any further come-back on this to the site hosts should not be tolerated in my view, they provide an excellent service and to come after them for our our messages and opinions is very poor form, I'm sure you're reading this along with everyone else, so why not stand up and approach Spec 1st???
If this alledged person still had a problem after sorting things with Spec (let us know if they do contact you mate??) I'd be more than happy to publicy meet them and sort any problem they had with my own views being aired on here

Nobody has to change their opinions or be any less honest, just need to be a little smarter in how they word those opinions. I can promise you that if the site has to run in an unreasonably constrained manner then I will pull the plug instantly ......... that's not what this is about.

I run several sites of this nature and have done for over seven years. During that time, I've had six or seven legal threats and I've faced them all down successfully and I certainly won't be bullied by anybody who has an issue with their own lack of popularity.

However, legally, the site (and that is deemed as me because I own the webspace on which it resides) can be legally challenged if statements are made about somebody's character that are "unreasonable". The law will tend to view any opinion that is clearly expressed as an opinion ......... as reasonable because, after all, we are all entitled to our own opinions on anything.

The simple message here is, if you are going for somebody big time, make sure you state that it is your opinion that you're offering. Stating "Joe Bloggs is an arrogant slob" would not be deemed an opinion but a statement, whereas "In my opinion Joe Bloggs is an arrogant slob" is clearly an opinion ........ legally, one is safe and the other isn't !!!

Sorry if it sounds heavy but I'm trying to keep the site free, open, honest and fun but without grief .......... not easy !!!

Whod be an admin/mod eh??

Missed what happened, and dont want to go into it again, as im sure no one does. Just want to do whats best for everyone and keep this forum going, and if that means being boring and deleteing stuff, then so be it.

Keep it real people
