Good morning, Sean

Interesting Divisional line ups!!

Only 9 teams in Prem and Div 1????!!!

What will Mr Seddon and even yourself have to say about this!!!

I also notice the PSMFL has dropped to only 38 teams as well!!

Maybe now, you and your chums might realise that it is impossible to create a Prem that is both competitive, and has volume, and also the Sunday Football mens 11 a side game, nationally, is contracting due to people working Sundays/getting older with family responsibilities/dismal lack of volunteers to administer, develop, and run teams.

Best wishes to you and all for the 08/09 season

morning Nik, I think the Prem will be very competitive this coming season and it's never had more than 10 teams since I starting playing sundays as far as I can recall so nothing new there?
A few good teams did drop out though with LB, JNE, Woodston etc so thats a big blow, but 4 or 5 new teams came in and looking at each div there should be cracking games for everyone all season?

RE: Mr Seddon, he wasn't there Sunday from what I saw so dont think he's much involved Sundays anymore? I hope he is though personally.
Me and my chums? not sure were you're going with that mate, I'm no longer on committee, just running my side trying to win games and have a laugh, committee looks very strong going forward and I heard Paul Clarke was voted Life Member which was really nice to see after his long service and hard work etc - good times ahead we all hope.
any other thoughts on each league, favourites to win, go up, go down etc?
racing 252 gotta be up there with Netherton as 252 is now jointly run by Scott from old JNE, that could be a VERY strong team?

Prem looks like it could be very competitive...

Good to see Paul Clarke get life time award as he really has put some effort in over the years, is well respected by all and fully deserves recognition...

Thanks Sean for your response.

I am delighted Paul C has been made a life member for no one has done more for the League than he.

I am looking on the net today for "fishing-how to", as the bait I laid was not taken!!!!!

Seriously I have to find a new job, as selling car horns to Italian football supporters appears to be a thing of the past (woops Raph), so maybe whilst back in Colditz from Thursday till at least Monday, albeit not at PDH this time(!), continuing treatment, I can enjoy more quality football before the dreaded Premier League starts again.

prediction - Bauer to finish bottom!

Anyone heard from Raph this morning - little concerned. Just want to make sure he's ok. Belts and shoelaces please.....!

Well, I had a good night sleep last night. Well and truely put to sleep by the Italians and there negative tactics. So glad they didn't get through, possibly one of the biggest football frauds of all time!!

GG you could be right, our league looks really tough... 252 (or should it read 252/JNE?) look like putting together a VERY good team! We'd be happy to finish outside the bottom 3 possibly 4 and go on from there if possible..

I'd go for 252 and Netherton as favourites in the Prem
Cherry Tree and Parkside/Star for the 1st
Thomas Cook to walk the 2nd (should be 1st div at least IMO)
Dont know about the 3rd, but Sporting SKS to finish below Fenland Police...

Gordon Gekko
23-06-2008, 10:45
Blue Boar will push Thomas Cooks. They will have a good side.

Worth a punt - players to revolt at Bauer (see the light) and sack their manager! Not for football reasons, but because they keep getting awful tips from the gaffa...!

Tip for the season Sean, stick to golf, fishing and MCN titles and steer clear of Horse & Hound for betting ideas!

Borocars - arn't they "Perkins"? Renamed becuase the Perkins sports club has diappeared.

Racing 252
23-06-2008, 10:51
We will have a really strong team this year and I feel we should win the league on paper with the squad we have as several class players signing notvonly from JNE, but it doesent always work like that and our main aim is the Northants Cup. At least we will have a strong team every week this year, unlike last year when we struggled to get a team out most weeks after xmas. It should be a good year, I think Westwood are going to be strong as well as a few JNE will also end up there so it has to be between Us, Neterton & Westwood.

23-06-2008, 11:02
Racing 252 - be interesting to see how you boys handle the influx of JNE and other players, surely a few aint going to be happy? it's your shout though and all the best with it, if Harbs can't find a home tell him we need a lino hahaha, just kidding mate.

whats happened to all the LB lads, will any of them seek teams in the Prem do you reckon? be a shame to lose some of that quality!

GG, I'm at the Golf Open in a few weeks, got a round scheduled, watch out for huge divots on the course hahaha, will text you any gossip/tips I hear.. I'm off tipping for now as it jinxs my bets, got a nice 8/1 shot Sat and told nobody but my old man, it romped it.

Tell us something we did'nt already know 252. Everyone has been saying it will between you 3 for weeks and that's no disrespect to any other team in that league. To be fair though you sound a little like a cracked record. Didn't we hear all this last year and it blew up in your face and the Northants bit sounds like Scott speaking !!!

23-06-2008, 11:26
I would like to think we can get a bit closer to JNE (Racing 252) this season! i know there has been a few good names being mentioned who want to come so hopefully we can get them on board and have a successful season!

Raph
23-06-2008, 11:32
I am alive and well! If you can win with a smile on your face, you have to lose the same way. Spain were better than us and I hope they go on to win the Euros - it's about time they won something and if they can't with their current squad, then they should give up international football!

As for PSMFL next year - looking a lot stronger. Great gag Nik; just as funny as when you gave me those three red cards and hefty record fine all rolled into one at RWT a few years back!

You are a gentleman!!

Your comments re Italy are honest, positive, and realistic.

JNE
23-06-2008, 12:42
Looks interesting although gotta say that competition is still poor in prem with only 3/4 teams with any real chance of winning it as like years before and the rest making up the numbers! sorry Sean, just my opinion!!

Heres my prediction on the top 4 -

Racing will be strong but lack depth as people who are currently their will get upset if Scott takes the JNE lads with him - Not me as retired ! And Scott aim is to win the Northants!!
Westwood will be strong but again lack in depth will prob cost them!
Netherton will be determined to break their league duck and are my tips this year - First time ever tipped them
Limetree will be the surprise package with some good players!!

1. Netherton - champions
2. Racing
3. Westwood
4. Limetree

Know little about the rest of the leagues so hard to give an opinion although I think the mail might fold as they will not want to get thumped in the prem every week - Eh Daddy Hempo!!

Gordon Gekko
23-06-2008, 12:54
You get to see peoples true colours when they get whipped week in week out. You just have to look at Parkside, Farcet and better still Fenland Police. They epitomise what Sunday football is all about. Fenland Police have been battered for years and always finish down the bottom. But they turn up week in week and are keen to play football. Lets hope Mail do compete this season. They're good enough to hold there own against some of the other teams in the prem. Someone has to finish bottom anyway!!

Although a bit early as you never know who is going to sign for who until season starts, with all the players promising to sign and then go elsewhere ect....
Raph how many Bauer lads you signed for your sat side?

Racing 252
23-06-2008, 13:19
JNE I heard you were signing for Westwood not retiring?? We will not lack depth at all we will have a strong squad as Scott has brought his 5-6 main players who will be avalible week in and week out and in areas we need players & we will have our main core of players who were there last year every week as that was our problem getting a team out every week and lacking a goalscorer who was avalible weekly which has now been sorted. Res Man Tyler wants to win the Northants as much as Scott as its the only thing he has not won on Sunday's!!

JNE
23-06-2008, 14:05
Core?? No, Me, Randall, mickey or Marcin to name but four who were regulars last year and from chatting to Scott he would only keep 3 from the Racing team last year so I am struggling to see where your strength in depth is!! :wow:

And actually Tyler has not won the Northants or PFA Cup!! I am not signing for anyone as spending time with the little one but if I change my mind it will be westwood! Good luck for next year!

c,mon the hoops
23-06-2008, 14:42
foggs, youre more than welcome to cross the divide mate, bring randell with ya an all!

Racing 252
23-06-2008, 15:20
JNE Scott is only bringing 5-6 of the JNE lads from last year to add to our players that are staying so we will have strengh in depth, so not sure where you got only 3 staying from last year there will be many more than that!! Oh and Tyler did win the PFA in his last season with JNE against McCains so I was correct!!

JNE
23-06-2008, 15:36
You maybe right wombat but either way he has not won one of the trophies as he only had one cup win with JNE before leaving and if it was the PFA we won in beating Mccains then he has not won the Hereward Cup. As for the 3 players, heard straight from the Horses mouth and to be honest only 3/4 are good enough comparing to what he can get from old JNE team and that includes Tyler!! I also believe he has not committed yet to definitely helping Tyler out due to possible commitments elsewhere although I believe he will!!

Either way, let your feet do the talking this year and not your mouth like like year!! The proof will be in the pudding!

Joe, need to clear with the missus about signing and that will not be easy and to be fair after JNE it will not be the same but would like to try and play - still not decided what doing Sats yet! I understand Marcin is signing and bainsey (possibly) although randall going to a div 2 side to get rapped!!

Back of the Net
23-06-2008, 15:44
I agree there's 3 or 4 that can win it but that makes it a very competitive league?
I'd say anyone on their day could take points from anyone else, teams like Fratelli, Mail, us, Limetree etc will take points from the top 2 or 3 for sure and that should ensure a tight finish and competition through to the finish? can't ask for more than that?
We've signed one lad who'll bring extra strength and quality already and hope for just 1 or 2 more and keep the core of the team that ran JNE and 252 very close last season in cup games and I'm sure Limtree etc will be doing the same, I'm looking forward to some tasty games for sure!!!

Racing 252
23-06-2008, 16:02
Foggy he has committed as was at AGM yesterday with us and has taken half the signing on forms to get the lads signed on this week. I have not said anymore than that it should be Us, Netherton & Westwood fighting for the title which is what you said as well Im sure we cant do as bad as last year!!

ResMan
23-06-2008, 16:34
Think the truth has already been spoken. The proof will be in the pudding. Glad to see your confident as ever young Colin but again we'll have to see what happen around Christmas. That was the problem last year and of course an under educated secretary that didn't understand the rules and ended up getting you kicked out of the cup !!!

Raph
23-06-2008, 16:47
Either way, will be a good season with a few teams that haven't played each other before. As for a response to Moe's question about FC Bauer/EMAP lads moving to SSPIO - there will be only be about two or three who will play regularly for SSPIO or SSPIO Res, with a couple signing on for as and when they're needed. Majority of Bauer lads work on Saturdays or have to do missus duty, so they save their energy for Sundays!

You can say whatever you like about starting training and pre-season friendlies early; but the character of player we're bringing in ,is the player who wants to play, wants to train and wants to feel part of something.

are deeping still playing on that dodgy pitch at baston or are they now playing somewhere else? that pitch is a serious accident waiting to happen.

will/do/have all the venues for sat and sunday been inspected by competant F.A. officials?(and dont say the refs do it as they're not exactly competant on the pitch let alone inspect a pitch thoroughly!). if the answer is "no" then why the hell not? and if not when were they last inspected?

Raph, pre season training the earlier the better I think, being fitter than anyone else for the first 4-6 games is a big advantage and probably well worth a few points not that I would know. Was just wondering how many were crossing over sun/sat.

Foggy, it means a lot to SSPIO players who have a had a few hard training sessions already and deserve the opportunity to have a match against some good opposition.

It means a lot to SSPIO management who have the chance to see players in a game situation before they sign for the club - a few players look like world beaters in training, but could be more like egg beaters in a match.

It also means a lot to FC Bauer who are mostly mates and haven't seen each other for a while - as well as for Lee Britton who will take his first game in charge of PSL (albeit without a few of his quality new signings).

It also means a lot to the advertisers on PST - as without people getting excited this early, they'd have nobody checking out their ads during the close season, hahaha!

I agree raph these friendlies and training sessions (even though we aint started yet) all play their part mate, even more so when you are starting from scratch. I have made what I think are 9 good signings so far (ALL away on a stag do this weekend) and I am holding back on making any others until I know they are right for the club. I have 15/16 unsigned players to look at in Saturdays game some I havent even met myself let alone seen play before but, they seem eager to show me what they can do (if anything) so it will be an interesting and a very worthwhile game for me.

Notice none of the so called better clubs have started training YET - maybe you have to because the lack of ability in your squads means you have to be fitter to compensate for this!!

Back of the Net
27-06-2008, 08:46
doubt anyone's training to finish mid table JNE - SSPIO have realistic hopes of a higher finish for thier 1st and Ressies, FC Bauer do indeed need to train harder as it's our 1st season in the prem so we want to be ready plus enjoy the banter pre-season, it's nice when the Mrs allows you out mate - shame you're not allowed!

Loads of clubs have started training already also, the lads that have not are usually the so called super stars who dont believe they need too as their ability will see them through, as you get older you'll get caught out more and more by the younger lads who've got the edge on you with fitness - are you playing any Prem sunday footy JNE?

beat SSPIO 4-2 at bushfields today, blazing hot afternoon and a good run out for all concerned... not sure of the 2nd game score SSPIO v PSL yet but we let at HT and SSPIO were wining 2 or 3 - 1 I think, looked a good game.. well played the new lads we brought in, played well.

yeah beers at the Windmill after were VERY welcome!
SSPIO beat PSL 5-3 in the 2nd game so I hear...
A good win for FC Bauer as it was our 1st run out (done to help SSPIO and give them oppo for the 1st game), couple of decent lads joined us and did really well so we're hoping they'll help us avoid a bottom 2 or 3 finish in our 1st season in the prem...

Roll on the 20th July for the Old Firm game, then week after v Oundle Res (Paul???) and then Eye 1st team, cracking few games for us!!
training starts for FC Bauer this Tues 6.30pm at Bushfields, all welcome!

FC Bauer beat an SSPIO side that were a mixture of 1st and reserve players, plus new trialists - good game all 'round.

The real test will be next week when we play King's School Year 8 girls . . . apparently they beat Netherton?

I heard Gloucester Centre reserves beat SSPIO Sundays (Richie, Starks, JB etc) the other week in a close fought game, Apparently Richie and JB were undecided who to play for, as their loyalties were split between their mates and the lads at SSPIO/Scarletts, hahahahaha...

Any one of the big three could win the Prem, 252, Westwood or Netherton, my heart would like it to be Westwood, so often the nearly men, head tells me 252, good signings and Shaky's influence to be huge plusses. Surprise contenders could well be Limetree, got some very good players.Dodgy keeper though(only joking Richie you played really well against PSL last week) hope we give a good account of ourselves, if we play to our ability we will give anyone a good hard game. Hope my old mates at Mail carry on, on their day they can be as good as anyone.Expect SSPIO to win Div 1 If what I hear about the signings is right, would love it for Steve Starkey.Don't know too much about the other Divisions so can't comment. Let's hope this season is competetive throughout all the Divisions and we have a good season so the PSMFL can progress.

Raph
02-07-2008, 11:04
Thomas Cook will walk Div 2 - should've been put up to Div 1, but let's hope that from this season forward we can have a little more stability in the PSMFL and direct up/down promotion/relegation at the end of the season.

By the way, the four or five potential new signings for Bauer look spot-on both character and ability wise, to complement the sound unit that we already have.

Sporting SKS - a big squad with a mixture of talent which, means as usual will thump a few and be thumped I would imagine at some point. It always happens.... More interested in the social/enjoying the game than taking it too seriously... An open league this season. 4/5 teams could knick it...

Goldhay, there are a few good teams in the league below who will surprise you as you saw from some of your cup matches last season... Don't be surprised if your sitting mid table come xmas...

last season was our first,we went on cold with no training or friendlys, so it took us till mid season to get used to playing together, we played those cup games to early in the season and was ripped apart buy more expeiance teams,

but this season we have got rid of the time wasters and dead wood, and added some good signnings, including a couple of strikers which we were missing last season, plus buy the end of last season we started to gell togeather, so hopfully can carry that on.
