Getting to that point of the season lads when the new leagues have to be put together. Who's gonna end up where ? With Jubilee and Woodston finishing and Parkside looking at going down who'll fill the spots ?

Royal Mail ? (team getting on now)
Limetree ? (great potential if everyone turns out)
EMAP? (have done well against prem opposition)
Deeping ? (definite shout. would have to get the stars out)
Parkway ? (romped league AND cup win. Got to go up this time ?)

Personal opinion, Limetree could hold their own providing they get their best team out plus I think they would wind up quite a few teams, Deeping I don't think take it seriously, Emap are three or four players and half a season away from being ready, not sure about Mail. Parkway I haven't seen but they do have some very very good players, Ash to name but one.

Simple answer is depending on how many teams will compete in the league next year either the top two or three finishing in the league..... None of this not ready to go up bolx or loosing a few players next year can we go down a division. Simple, if you finish in top two/three then you are promoted!

Back of the Net
24-04-2008, 11:57
It's gotta be whoever finishes highest goes up, so it's top 2 or 3.
In our league that means Limetree and Royal Mail and if needed 1 other from Bauer, Scarletts, Deeping and New Shoes and each of them teams would do ok in the prem I'm sure, very tight for 3rd in our league.....
Saying that it seems Royal Mail might have thrown in the towel for the race to win the title? and if so they could lose their remaining 3 or 4 games to try and avoid going up? If they do then the league should position them 2nd in the league I'd say?

Parkway would do ok in the Prem I think, but they should be given a season in the 1st div to prepare them and keep them all together to consolidate their club, 2nd too Prem in one season a big leap - the league could ask them I suppose and if they wanted too then no harm there?

24-04-2008, 13:34
Parkway should go up one division.

Simple 2/3 up 2/3 down scenario. No more of this teams dropping down a division or two cos they feel they may finish in the bottom 2/3 in there league lost players etc.... Someone has to finish there!

24-04-2008, 15:02
parkway still have sawtry and cherry tree to play twice nothing is decided in div 2 the ref failed to show last night at parkway vs cherry tree so alot of games still to be played. i dont think it would be fair on division one sides if anyone was promoted two divisions every team should earn there place in a higher division

JNE
24-04-2008, 15:27
Parkway to good for 2! simple as!

As for the prem and Div 1 - think they should be merged as 3/4 teams dropping from the Prem to make a Prem league with a little more competition - or so I am led to believe. Still think 3/ will dominate as always!

Oh and we've acually only lost 4 in the league and have a better goal diff - you guys lost 3 - so far!!!!

I just said you may may have thrown in the towel, personally I really hope you have not.

I think BOTN you have a slight advantage over us, you see to know whats going on in our team.
So if you would enlighten us that would be great as we do not seem to know at the min.
What I do know is if we mess up enough not to go up I for one would happily take second and go up.
Like you we are that old now it will probably be our last chance to play in the prem. well for most of us anyway.

I hope you guys push on to maybe win it or at least a VERY close 2nd, think you'd do well in the Prem!

The reason I asked the question was when the leagues were put together last year some sides said they weren't strong enough to go up but failed to show the league exactly who they were signing. Then lo and behold we have UCL or prem players turning out all season for those sides in the lower leagues. Curious

Back of the Net
29-04-2008, 10:33
you'll never stop players signing for teams that their mates run etc..
The only way to do it is simply move the top 2 or 3 up a division and the bottom 2 or 3 down - it's simple!
Perhaps Thomas Cook up to the 1st division as they certainly look good enough for that level, then just swap the top 2 or 3 for bottom 2 or 3?
For the Prem just 1 down (Parkside?) and move 2 or 3 up as JNE folding? and they need new teams up there!!!

ResMan
29-04-2008, 10:47
Take on board what you're saying BOTN, the bit that sticks a little is when a team say they are'nt strong enough probably knowing who will sign, then go on and win the league (probably) and a cup !

Back of the Net
29-04-2008, 11:12
You mean Parkway/Thomas Cook etc?
Thats what happens when you listen to teams bleating on about how they should be moved down 2 levels because they're losing players or can't sign anyone good enough etc - The only solution is not to listen, you stick to moving the top 2 or 3 up and the bottom 2 or 3 down and then nobody can argue with it?

If a team wants to move down 2 levels then they should spend 2 seasons doing it via demotion, I'm sure they'd soon improve once they realise they're not getting away with it?

jingle bells
29-04-2008, 12:55
Spot on BOTN. There are teams each year that spiel the bull and say they need to go down as they are loosing players. The simple answer is to move two up two down and not listen to these teams. I don't think moving Cooks up 2 would be the answer. One division at a time.

Back of the Net
29-04-2008, 13:00
To be fair we moved up 2 last season and have done ok so Cooks may well warrant the same treatment? but it'd be a case of the league talking to them and agreeing it like they did with us last term...

richie
29-04-2008, 15:19
as much as it hurts me to say it sean emap have done more than ok, surely you didnt think you would do as well as you have done. compliment over so i still think your crap, haha just messing

Thanks mate, I didn't think we'd do as well as we have done to be honest, I was hoping for mid-table and see how it goes from there, but we've kept the same core of the squad then added 3 or 4 to it, plus I brought Micky B in who's been superb, We're all really enjoying it at the minute and that looks like continuing into next season and beyond...

I've got to be well chuffed with 3rd (if we win Sunday)... already looking too next season hahaha...

what about Scarletts, under achieved?? looks like 4th or even 5th place, with the likes of Shaq, Lee, Dalts, yourself (maybe haha) I'd assume you were hoping for top 3 at least?

richie
29-04-2008, 16:02
yeah we did and the way we started off it looked possible but it has always been the same with us and having players not turning up one weekend but do the next, cant really expect to go up when its like that

Back of the Net
29-04-2008, 16:09
I agree, we simply don't sign or play players that dont turn up every week!! got 1 lad who's been with us 4 years (Hanny) that can only make fortnightly now due to childcare but he's very loyal so we make an expection, outside of that we dont put up with it, as it just annoys others in the team and results are effected as you have found out!

I'm fairly sure you had a full strength team when playing us at your place though? haha

richie
29-04-2008, 16:12
we did except i was playing!ha.to be honest it hasnt happened as much this year but it has happened. i play football on a monday with hanny so know about him having his lad some weekends but at least you know where you stand beforehand in situations like that

Back of the Net
29-04-2008, 16:16
exactly...
From the 20 odd games we'll play this season - I think only once have we had less than 3 subs, which says a lot for the lads in squad and that's one of the main reasons we're finishing 3rd (I hope) this season.

richie
29-04-2008, 16:19
tell you what mate if you lads lose your next game and we win our 2 it upsets emap as we will be 3rd and upsets mail as it means they cant win the league.interesting!

Back of the Net
29-04-2008, 16:26
mate we want 3rd but not desperate for it, 3rd or 4th is much the same I guess?
But yeah if you beat Mail it will certainly **** Moe and co off!!! to be fair I think New Shoes will beat you in the last game, they're much improved and a team not to take lightly.
loving the close finish to the season...

richie
29-04-2008, 16:30
why do you think that?we played them a couple of weeks ago and beat them by a few goals as well as missing a pen.3rd and 4th are pretty much the same but we need to beat you lot at something!ha

moe
29-04-2008, 16:50
It won't upset me Sean, I do not worry about things like that. as you should know sean at our age we are happy just still playing.
In all honesty division 1 has had some really good sides in it this year and most games have been close, up until recently there were four or five teams still able to win the league, that alone tells how good the standard has been.
Scarletts are a very good side on their day but as it has always been even when they were the Nags when Ritchie used to come and watch as a nipper we could beat anyone on our day and I do not think things have changed much in that respect, If scarletts turn up they are more than capable of beating anyone in our division same for Emap, Prem Decs and the shoes.

ResMan
30-04-2008, 10:51
Agree with Richie, Emap have suprised a few people this year (you included Sean). You certainly put a good side together for the Jube 5's. Seems so long ago now !!!

Back of the Net
30-04-2008, 11:11
I think a lot of our players are improving season on season as they tend to stay with us for ages, I have been pleasantly surprised this term but looking back on things a little dissapointed we chucked points away in games we should have won!!
The Jube 5's was a good laugh, to be honest our side in that was not as good as it should have been as we missed a couple of decent lads who said they couldn't make it last minute...

I think that's slanderous Richie, Moe and the lads never did things by halves.

Raph
01-05-2008, 11:04
Haha! Moe is the only person who has genuinely frightened me with his on-the-pitch reactions to a refereeing decision. The worst behaved are always those who officiate too . . . look at Tommy Mudd from RWT and Vinny who ref's Powerleague; silent and friendly as ref's and mental as players!

Back of the Net
01-05-2008, 12:32
Richie - Moe.... what about this then?
Just been looking at the our league table and fixtures etc, it seems Mail have Scarletts and Prem Dec - BUT the Prem Dec game is the one that R Mail cancelled when only half their team showed and no kit arrived etc (so I hear), and IF? this is the case then the league MAY well follow precident and award the game to Prem Dec but also dock Mail 3 points for it... same thing happened to Protelo this season and a few others before that so the precident has been set?

I dont know what'll happen so dont ask me, but I do know that if Mail suffered a minus 3 and then only have 1 game left the table looks like this:
Limetree - winners
Mail on 34 with 1 to play v Scarletts
EMAP on 33 with 1 to play v Deeping
New Shoes on 31 with Scarletts to play
Scarletts on 29 with 2 games to play - Mail and Shoes...

That would mean any of those could finish anywhere between 2nd and 5th... ?
Would make an interesting ending I guess!

Raph
01-05-2008, 12:39
If the precedent has been set, then that's the way the cookie crumbles! Need Scarletts to do us a couple of favours then we hit the Prem. Best get into that transfer market Mr Hamill!

Back of the Net
01-05-2008, 12:46
hahaha think we'll wait and see what happens Raph, we have a tricky tie v Deeping to overcome 1st and then see what goes on around us.
If we win then Scarletts or Shoes can't catch us, so we would just need Scarletts to overturn Mail.... as I say, It makes it interesting to consider if nothing else!

Scouse Mouse
01-05-2008, 12:55
If other teams have been punished then it looks a bit ominous for the posties. Saying that, they are still in the driving seat with regard to second place and its theirs to throw away. By the way Raph, no need for the transfer market just yet. We have mixed it with the leagues finest in high profile games against Lord Burghley and Jubilee in the last two seasons and did not disgrace ourselves. Some of the older lads who have helped get us in this position may just fancy a crack at that division if we get there and not for someone to come in and steal the shirts off our backs!

Raph
01-05-2008, 13:01
We still lost though! It's about building a squad capable of making a sustained challenge. Anyone who is good enough, will play irrespective of age surely anyhow.

Scouse Mouse
01-05-2008, 13:18
Who would have imagined that of the 11 players that got us out of Division 4 could get us very close to promotion to the Prem? But they have. Its only fair they are given a crack at it if the opportunity arises, as long as they are fit enough etc. I don't want to enter into the debate of how you build a club etc, but reliability goes a long way and as we have seen first hand sometimes the best players are not the ones you can always rely on. Its okay signing the superstars at the start of the season but when Jan and Feb come, you are mid table and out of the cups can you guarantee they will be there? A few clubs have gone this season on that reason alone.

Back of the Net
01-05-2008, 13:24
chill out lads, lets enjoy this season 1st eh?
let me and Mick worry about building on this season, I've already said we are only ever interested in bringing in sound lads that want to stick around for the social element as well as the footy and that's how it'll continue within FC Bauer (group hug?)

01-05-2008, 14:58
Raph, Scouse lets not jump to any conclusions, as Sean has said we could finish 5th, we have still got to win our remaining game lads, lets make that a priority not what may or not happen to other teams, it's what we do that counts lads so keep focussed, by the way in my humble opinion Chelsea have more of a chance of beating Man U so maybe last nights result was for the best.(sorry Richie)

moe
01-05-2008, 19:36
Look at all the little baur boys getting excited about trying to get in the prem by the back door, what happened to were not good enough yet, blah blah blah.
yes it was a pen he was caught but it probably did not help his cause with the drogba styled dive, but on the other hand essiens goal should have also stood so what goes around comes around and all that, was the better of the two semi's and both went for it. glad we won of course but still a very exciting game.
As for the points thing I do not know anything about losing 3 points so you will have to tell me all about it as yet again you seem to know more that most sean you little s*** stirrer you.
Raph the reason we are mild mannered as referees is we know how passionate the games can be and why we lose the plot sometimes when we play and how some that have never played do not understand this and take it all as a personal attack on themselves when players get fustrated. That may be the difference, as for being scary you should ask Mr B about some of my tackles when I was younger you would have s*** yourself, but I am old and mellow now....lol

Mick B
01-05-2008, 20:20

Moe come on mate... your lot failed to play against Prem Dec on a Sunday morning ages ago, no team and no kit turned up for your lot so the game was not played (Prem Dec waiting to play), are you honestly saying your lot have no idea that you may be expecting a points deduction for that?
Every single team (and there's been a lot recently) that doesn't fufil a fixture with less than 7 days notice has been docked 3 points and the game awarded to the opposition in recent PSMFL history.
Protelo, B Tap and Fenland Police have all had the same happen to them this season, good luck with the old Head in the Sand approach though!!!
As for the Prem, we're not ready but it don't mean we wouldnt like a runners up medal to show for our efforts lol.

Personally if we finish third It's far better than most of the lads expected so I will be pleased. For those of you old enough to remember(not many of you) In my first season in Sunday football management we finished third and improved thereafter so who knows? Might come down Sunday to see some people who I consider as good mates (on both teams), who wins really doesn't bother me.Just wish Mail had won the league.Hope it's a good game played in the right spirit.
