Alconbury 2 Deeping 1 (See bury edging it but should be a close game?)

Stamford 2 Perkins 3 (Perkins to take a step closer to title)
Uppingham 1 Pinchbeck 2
Whittlesey 3 Psl 2 (Well got to be honest we've a couple out and like Jimmy I want the season over been difficult period not being able to bring the players we want in cus of one rule or another)
Fletton 2 Parsons Drove 2 (aet etc... maybe fancy Fletton?)

2 out of 3 Spec. My Perkins prediction was hopeful more than anything.

Great win for Oundle

As Meat Loaf said Foxy! Can't hide the fact that I would rather have just got 1 right and Fletton were in the cup final.
Very poor game really, could have finished 4-4 with both sides missing good chances but Parson Drove do battle well and it would be a nice touch if they went on to win it after all they have been through this season.

what a result for whittlesey no one predicted a 6-0 romping!!!

Like Lee & Bratts said - we had players missing. I was in Dubai & a few others away too.

bratts

Rapha - i never use players absence as an excuse for losing!! We were gud for 60mins despite being 1-0 down n had enough chances to be level with them. They then get a 2nd goal and flood gates open, only about 3 lads could of walked off that pitch saying they had played well for us!!

I have never see such a shambles on a football pitch as we were saturday. fair play to the whittlesey lads they played a good game and gave us a good lesson, and unlike some teams, even though they were romping they didnt try n take the p1ss.

I am away from this thursday for a weeks holiday n then go in for my operation so lee will be in charge...MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU BUDDY...........

I was looking for an angle to defend ourselves! Roll on Saturday and Pinchbeck to put it right again then. Good luck with your operation.

Cannot defend that last 45min Raph but lets be honest though its been coming for a while... anyway guna be some changes this week whether it will be enough or not I dont know? We just got to keep prodding along and enjoy whats left of the season.

Saw the last 30 minutes on Saturday and Sports looked a very poor side- obviously having difficult time with so many players gone awol. Fotunately no relegation worrries and can start looking to next season but lot of new personnel needed

You may be right; or even a good pre-season can often change things around. It will cut out the wheat from the chaff and show who is actually hungry enough to play for the club.

Went and watched the whittlesey v P/boro Sports game saturday. I understand Sports had a few missing but was that the 1st choice Whittlesey side? First time ive seen a prem game, and no offence to anyone involved but I was expecting a higher standard? Ive played against a few good sides from lower divisions this season (Eye/Warboys/Ramsey) and im sure they would all hold there own in the prem???

Or did I just choose a bad game to go and see??!!

bratts
18-03-2008, 11:46
March lad - who did whittlesey have missing then? The only one i na to be missing from whittlesey was speechley!! If i am wrong then i stand corrected. We had some out ourselves, but thats no excuse i have feilded a weaker side against teams just as good as whittlesey n come away with a result.

I think you chose the wrong game mate to go and watch!!

Lee
18-03-2008, 11:58
March Lad (Eye, Warboys, Ramsey, Stilton etc) they would hold their own no questions but they are where they are and no doubt wont be long before they are in the Prem. You chose a bad game to watch for your first Prem game mate was a bad advert! Go watch some others they not bad!

Dont believe Prem format is as strong as it could be if there was an immediate shake up of the teams in Peterborough i.e

Prem made up of:

Fletton, Alconbury, Deeping, Rutland, Whittlesey, (Perkins but folding), Netherton, Ramsey, Eye, Stilton, Moulton, Parson Drove, Warboys?, PSL (If get butts in gear!), Leverington, and...

That's only if they keep same sides which again from one season to next they seem to change. So what might look good now could be poor next season.

But its something for debate...

(Teams above just off the top of my head sorry if forgot an obvious choice!)

Not sure about rushing teams from Division Two after just one season of suuccess
Coates won Div Two last season but unlikely to finisih in top three of Division One this season
Eye look as though they make the step up to the prem in another season but Stiton success based on certain M Baines and who knows if he will be there next season or back with Tommy C
Anyway Rutland and Ramsey surely deserve their place in front of any Div Two team
Or Whittlesey Res could go up as Blue Star and that would please some anyway

Lee
18-03-2008, 12:55
I agree its unfair to rush teams was merely saying they would enhance the Prem given its current position n just thought it would open a good debate something to talk about on here... Wayne has put together a good side at Stilton yes built around Mark but most teams would be. We say it time and again any team needs more than 1 man.. Gino has good side/setup to that would compliment the higher league but working up to the prem is a big part of the fun!

[quote=bratts;15146]March lad - who did whittlesey have missing then?

Ive no idea, just going from what ive read on here. I agree though I think I was just unlucky with my choice of match!!

Il be interested to see how Ramsey do in the prem. Played them in a cup and lost 5-0. Was very impressed. Ive never worked so hard in a game and got no reward at all!!!

I am sure Ramsey will be able to hold their own in the Prem, they will be a top half team but not much better than that.

I think Netherton are the next hardest opponents we have faced in the league with Rutland not far behind either.

As for the Eye and Stilton debate, i agree that could probably hold their own, but like it has been said before they have had one good season each and so I am sure they will prefer to have a crack at Div 1 next year!

Prior to the last 6 weeks i would of said they we would be able to hold our own, but think the last 6 weeks has proved to us that there is plenty of work to be done before we can!!!

BLUE BOYS
18-03-2008, 17:03
im sure that pinchbeck, uppingham bells and oundle may disagree, number 90 im sure that some of the whittlesey 2nd string will be representing the first team nxt season so best leave the resies were they are.people see things so different fair enough eye n stilton have had good seasons and i no a few of the lads but to say that they are ready for the prem would be a step to soon. both sides will need to strenthen before taking the next step. think it was coates an guyhirn last season and both of them will be looking to build there sides to establish themselves in div 1 its not that easy to jump divisions. just my opinion

Harbs
18-03-2008, 17:42
i totally agree that you can look at the teams in div 2 and make the assumption they would hold their own and they probably would however i dont think with the squads we have we would be a succesful as Hampton were for example, i remember when they played their first season in the Prem now that was a team that held their own in the prem.
Division one for me Gino and the boys and we will be approaching the new season just like we did the last season... however we took 6 weeks to figure out what side was able to get the results we were after, im not so sure we will have that grace in division one so pre season will be more important and we need to try and get it right first time.
Stilton isnt so much moulded around Mark but you cant help but notice what a difference he makes i mean he scored 8 goals in one game which made that team fold. i feel Stilton too have at least 7-8 players that will have their places firmly cemented for next year regardless what division they are in and regardless if Mr Baines plays for them.
With the site being so hot with gossip at the moment i just hope it wont be a foot in mouth job and we end up getting spanked every game ;)
Nice to hear some good compliments about the set up though guys thank you people at the club really have put a lot into it and as many of you know they dont always get the credit they deserve in comparison to the praise the players get.

Prior to this season I worked in the Prem for 8 years or so and I can tell everyone we are no way ready for the Prem. Yes we have had a good season along with Warboys and Stilton but we still have a long way to go.
Looking forward to Division 1 and like many others will be looking to bring a few players on board.

18-03-2008, 18:54
On the face of it, it would be great to have the top 16 teams in the Prem, but I don't see it ever happening.

a) How would you decide the 16? - everyone will have a different opinion on the 16 teams

b) just because a team has a good team one year, it doesn't mean they will the following season. Remember, every season each team starts with a clean slate, no players are contracted to a club and everyone has to sign on for the new season

c) do the teams meet the Prem criteria? (facilities etc)

d) it would never be fair to promote a Division 2 team to the Prem over a Division 1 team. Each team should work their way through the leagues and when they get there, it's completely on their own merit

i think the leauge reformat was obdvisuly wrong but it will sort its self out talk of teams who want to jump 1 or 2 leauges are getting a bit carried away if they are good enough they will be in the prem in no time

Raph you can join in mate its ok, i think he just got their first with similar comments you wanted to make?? :D
Hyypia nice of you to say mate but unfortunately the standard in division 2 is way off par compared to 1 and prem but thats obviously why the break down is how it is.
i'd say 6 teams in div 2 are good sides the rest are teams that turn up for something to enjoy on a saturday??
